chapter one
Lyca wong saton a bench outside blistol bliss a bakery fidgeting as this was her first time applying for a job Noone knew her father was the millionaire Reginald wong on the jinwei talent agency. Lyca preferred it that way. She wanted to be different As she stood up to try to ease the anxiousness she felt sitting there, the sounds of laughter and clinking glasses floated out from the restaurant. Lyca took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself up for the worst. "Lyca Wong?" a cheerful voice called out. Lyca smiled and walked into the restaurant. The interview flew by in a blur of friendly conversation and thoughtful questions. Lyca left feeling optimistic, praying she got the job like her life depended on it. Upon entering her family home she was greeted by the butlers and she asked where her father was, she was directed to a waiting room where she was greeted by the soft hum of hushed conversations " father just built this place" she thought. Her father, Reginald, was entertaining guests in the room. She slipped upstairs to her room, changing into comfortable clothes before joining her father. "Lyca, darling," Reginald called out, his voice warm and inviting. Lyca descended the stairs, her curiosity piqued. "Father, what's going on?" she asked, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. "Just discussing business," he replied, his lips breaking into a warm smile. "Your uncle, Jianlong, and his family are arriving tomorrow," Reginald announced, his tone light. Lyca's brow furrowed. "Dad, you know they can't stand you. Reginald chuckled. "Ah, Lyca, family is complicated. We'll present a united front for the sake of business." The following evening, Lyca's anxiety intensified as she watched her uncle's family arrive. Jianlong's wife, Meiying, was adorned in diamonds, her designer gown sparkling under the foyer lights. Their daughter, Aiyue, showcased her wealth with a high-end handbag and an air of superiority. Dinner unfolded like a carefully choreographed performance of polite conversation laced with subtle jabs. Lyca noticed the tension between her father and Jianlong, their smiles not really smiles. As the night came to an end, Lyca excused herself, feeling overwhelmed. " Aye she cannot still entertain guests like a rich person Meiying jabbed. She retreated to her room, the sounds of laughter and music wafting up from the foyer. Sleep eluded Lyca, her mind racing with thoughts about her family's tangled relationships. The next morning, she awoke to an empty room after going to greet her father. She dressed quickly and made her way downstairs. That's when she spotted them talking hushedly amongst themselves. Jianlong, Meiying, and Aiyue stood in the guests area, their faces contorted inton weird grins. "Good morning, Lyca, something bad happened we met him like this" Jianlong . Meiying's eyes gleamed with victory. "It seems your father maybhave commited suicide." Lyca's heart plummeted as she pushed past them, her eyes scanning the room. That's when she noticed him. Her father lay motionless on his best sofa holding unto a glass of wine, his eyes closed as if in a deep slumber. "Dad" her voice quivered
