Damien POV
I pick up the lightweight cardstock invitation again considering going again but the thought of going and leaving my pack defenseless doesn’t sit well with me.
“Damien, we need to find out what is causing all of these attacks. We are lucky that nobody from our pack has been seriously hurt.”
“I know Shadow, I know. I think we should talk to the other alphas at the gathering and see if anyone else is having a similar issue,” I tell my wolf.
“Alpha?” I hear my Beta ask, interrupting my internal conversation?
“What is it, John?”
“have you decided if you are going to go to the gathering tonight?” he asks, pointing to the invitation I have in my hands again. Thinking about it again I toss the silly paper onto my desk and rub my hand across my face, feeling the stubble the has grown.
“I haven’t made my decision yet,” I admit. “I know I should go, try to find my mate, but I don’t know if that is the best idea, not with the amount of rogue attacks that we have had in the last week. I don’t know why they have increased so much this week, but I am worried that if I go, we may be hit again.” Things have been so crazy around here that I haven’t even taken the time to do all the paperwork in my office, and it is overflowing.
“Alpha, may I speak freely?” my beta asks, looking into my eyes.
“John, you may always speak freely when we are alone. You’re family,” I tell him, clapping him on the shoulder.
“Damien, we need our Luna, if you have a chance to meet other female wolves you haven’t met before to help your chance at finding her you should take it. If you are that worried about any more rogue attacks why not just take the unmated wolves with you and leave the mated ones here to protect the rest of the pack? There are plenty of warriors to split between the two groups.”
“You know, John, this is the reason that I chose you as my beta. You always have good advice to give me,” I say as my office door opens.
“He really is good at giving advice,” a sweet and very pregnant female says walking into my office causing my beta to growl.
