Rebellious 13

The night is still young. I don't want to go home after dinner. I wanted to take this opportunity to stay out of our home to get some fresh air. Even though I didn't want to be with Rayver, we chose to move to a coffee shop for coffee. There are only a few people in the shop, just enough for us to enjoy our silence. I looked at the time and saw that it was only eight o'clock, but I still really didn't want to go home. I just don't know about Rayver, maybe later he will be busy or something. I mentally rolled my eyes. What do I care if he is busy or not? "I need to drive you home," he said in the middle of the silence. "Before ten, Lili. I still have work tomorrow." Sipping on my coffee, I looked at him through my lashes. I put the cup down on the table and thought of something. "Could you convince my father to lift the ban?" I asked in a very gentle way. "Well, unfortunately for me, he doesn't trust me enough even after freezing all my bank accounts. He said, I can only rely on you financially first, which I don't want. I have my own money so, why would I even do that? Besides that, my freedom is based on how frequently we'll go out. But I don't want that either. I felt like a prisoner already and if this thing goes on, I'd really run away. I don't care about everything anymore as long as I get my freedom back." He just looked straight at me and I resisted that. I fought his stares with the same ferocity and seconds later, he looked away, blowing deep breaths. "And now, you need my help." I shook my head. "No... That's how you compensate for saying yes to this agreement." "Is giving up my bachelor years not enough—" I cut him off. "Nope. It will never be enough. My freedom is at stake now that you said yes." "Well, mine is at stake, too..." "Between us, you are the one who'll benefit more from this set-up, Rayver Clemente. At least, pay a little for me? Ask Papa to free me from being grounded. I don't like the thought of using you maybe— every day just to get out of that house. I felt suffocated and no one's gonna like what I'm capable of doing when someone clips my wings. Even you... So, convince him because as everyone says, you are his most trusted ally. I'm sure my father would listen to you, huh?" "I cannot promise you that," he uttered. "I had nothing to do with your father's life decision lately so, I can't make a promise." I raised my brow at him. For some reason, I really cannot bring myself to believe in him. Well, I am having a hard time believing his words. I have convinced myself that everything he'd say is a lie. So, I guess... This is why I couldn't bring myself to believe in his words. I nodded my head. "As if." "Lili..." "Just convince him. I'm sure he will listen to you, like always." We went silent. I stared at the glass door and saw the busy street. I really didn't want to go home yet but there was nothing I could do as it was close to ten o'clock. Even the idea that I have a curfew irritates me, I'm really considered a child. I tsk-ed when the car stopped in front of our house. "Will we go out again tomorrow?" I asked. I felt him turn to me. "I am busy," he said. "But I will try to convince your father, don't worry. But I'm not making a promise here." I rolled my eyes. Well, at least now he's trying to help me. "You need to convince him," I looked at him. "Well, I'm sure my father promised you something and if I run away, you'll probably not get it, right? And as I've said, Rayver... if this thing goes on, I don't know anymore. I might run away and you wouldn't like it," my voice was serious. I smiled at him before unbuckling the seat belt. I didn't wait for him to speak, or even to invite him home, and I got out of his car. I didn't even thank him. Well, it's his responsibility to take me home safely. After all, he was the one who asked me out first. When I got inside the house, I caught up with Papa in the living room. My brow furrowed because at times like this they are already in Mama's room. "Yet..." He raised his head to look at me. It seems that he is even looking for someone who I think is Rayver. I immediately spoke there. "Rayver has left. He said he has work tomorrow so he's in a hurry," I said. He nodded and stood up. "Well, I just waited for you to come home. Now that you're safe, I will go to sleep." Papa was just like this before. He would normally wait for me but ever since I left home, he has stopped doing it. A year ago, while I was still living in this house, I was always out. To say, I always caught him waiting for me but maybe, he got tired. Besides, he's getting old, and staying up late— waiting for me isn't recommended. Well, when I reached my legal age, I started partying and I sometimes fail to make it home. My father might be so strict and with my situation— for me, he is being inconsiderate for doing these things to me but somehow, I understand why. That's why I can't just really run away. Even though I said I might, I don't have the heart to do that knowing that it might be his downfall, too. Trying to be lowkey until the election comes to an end. "Is Mama asleep?" He nodded. I sighed and let him do what he wanted. I just observed him climbing up the stairs towards their room. Meanwhile, I went straight to the kitchen to drink water before going up to my room. I look for my phone to read the messages from my siblings. I didn't reply and just laid down on my bed without even changing my clothes. I felt exhausted and sleepy. I closed my eyes and tried to dismiss the upcoming thoughts I'd have. I am really hoping for the best tomorrow. Rayver, you better be good at convincing. I guess my silent praying was effective. The next day, I wasn't even grounded. I couldn't stop the joy I felt there. But I wasn't satisfied yet and my bank account was empty. "Dad, c'mon... trust me. I won't run away. If that's what I'm going to do, I wouldn't have asked Jayden for help a long time ago. You know your son, he'd help me in anything no way he can." Yup. Jayden might be into this but when I ask him for help, he'd be there and everyone in the family knows it. They weren't able to convince our father but once I ask him to help me escape, he would be there to back me up. I saw Mama attending him. I was having tea earlier when he called me into his office. By the way, the lifting of the ban will be discussed. Shall I thank Rayver for this? Yup, but I won't verbally express it. He should think that he owes me something so he must help me with this. "I don't want to rely on Rayver for my finance, Pa. I don't want to burden him and besides, my wants are expensive. Would you rather have him spend his hard-earned money on my wants? He must have been saving up for something and being a hindrance to it would be the last thing I want to happen." "Rayver is rich," he excused. "Not super rich," I contradicted. "Maybe, he is. I am, too. I spend money beyond my means, though. He wouldn't like it." I shrugged and smiled at my father sweetly. "Let it go, Jordan... Just give her a bank account. She's right... We wouldn't want to be a burden to Rayver." I nodded my head to agree with my mother. "See, Papa? Even Mama agrees." I have a lot of things to buy. Besides, I really don't like the thought of someone spending their money on me because it might give them the idea that they can take control of me. I don't want them to think that they can dominate me just because they provided me with something. Nope... That is not like how I want to live my life. I have money so, why would I ask anyone to give me a penny? "You should start working once you are married," my father uttered. I pouted. "Yeah, right..." I should work, yup.
