The Unwanted But Inevitable Choice

Chapter 13

"Why couldn't you talk to me when Austin was here?" I say out loud on the way to my room.

"I COULD have but I needed to be alone with you. It's not anyone's business what goes on between us, not even our mates.."

"So they are both my mate? I have two mates?"

"Uh, we Lanie. We have two mates. Technically 4. We together have four mates."

"Oh right, their wolves." I feel a swirl in my head and I gasp. It doesn't hurt, it's just a feeling I've never experienced before. "Thalia what is that feeling?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm pacing, I'll calm down."

"What does that mean"

"I'm not physically walking around but my mind races and collides with yours. Also Lanie you don't have to talk to me out loud. You can talk to me in your mind."

"Really? Wait can you read my thoughts?"

"I can hear what you are thinking, yes but you can learn how to shut me out, although I hope you don't. I'm your other half Lanie." I get up and walk to my bathroom. I look in the mirror.

"You can see through my eyes right?"

"Yes, I see you"

"Well you already know my name, but this is what I look like." I hear a snicker in my head.

"Oh my Goddess Lanie, I know what you look like."

"Hey don't laugh at me, how was I supposed to know?"

"I'm sorry Lanie." By her voice I know she is being sincere.. She pauses and I hear her sigh."Would you like to see what I look like?" I tense up and walk back to my room. I climb into my bed.

"Thalia, I don't think Im- I mean..I don't think we're ready to shift."

"Oh goddess I wish, but no you're right it's not time for that… I wasn't talking about shifting."

"Oh, I just assumed.. I'm sorry. How can I see you without shifting?"

"Well, you just need to open your mind up to me. It's kinda like falling asleep."

"So I dream of you?"

"Well no, just close your eyes and focus on a wolf. It can even be Issac but focus on the wolf side of your body." I nod although I'm not sure she can see it. I close my eyes and focus.. I focus on Issac and imagine we are running in the forest together at night. I hear a purring sound and suddenly the image of me running with Issac turns black and I see a small room. It looks like my ocean themed room but instead of a bed I see a big fluffy dog bed on the floor even Eugene is here which makes me giggle. I turn around and suddenly I see a small blonde colored wolf with blue eyes that are a few shades darker than mine. It's front two paws and the tip of its tail is brown. The wolf walks slowly toward me.

"Thalia?" I see the wolf grin which looks so cute.I reach my hand out and walk toward her as well. She licks my hand and I run my hand along her head.

"Thalia, you are so beautiful" I say and I pet her.

"You are beautiful too Lanie." Her mouth doesn't move but I hear her voice.

"Thalia, how are you talking but not moving your lips?"

"It's normal for werewolves. We can't speak in wolf form."

"Then how do I hear your voice? Why are our voices different?"

"I'm not sure how to answer that Lanie because I do not know… I know I have a voice and the only time someone can hear it is when I speak through their mind." We lay on her bed and I have to admit. It's much more comfortable than mine. She lays her head on my lap as I pet between her ears.

"It must be hard to live inside someone else'' I suddenly feel guilty.. It's not fair Thalia will only be free when it's convenient for me. She deserves better than that.

"But I'm not only just living inside you Lanie," she licks my face where the tears are falling. Which comforts me. "I will have my mate just like you, it will be incredibly hard to choose between Blade and Issac but I will be right there as me make this choice together. We will all grow old together, be mated, have pups. I couldn't imagine having a better human than you Lanie."

"You are such an incredible person Thalia. I know I'm new to all of this but I know I couldn't have gotten a better wolf than you." We cuddle for a while and get to know each other. She also tells me a more in depth history of werewolves. We learn each other's favorite colors, I tell her my favorite movies and actors. She tells me how she has lived a normal life inside me. She also told me that she has been with me since the time I was eleven. Yes, she came the night Will had his accident and when I became afraid of cars. She doesn't know why we shared that moment though. She was there when I had all the drama with Adam and kept pushing to wait for s*x until marriage.

She said there have been a few times when she has suggested things to me and I've gone along with them. I can't believe this entire time I have had this incredible built in best friend and I have got to spend time with her until now.

"Wait, Thalia. Why did you tell me to stop earlier when me and Austin were kissing?"

"Issac kept trying to reach out to me but I acted like I hadn't woken up yet. I think meeting our mates gave us the Wolfe boost we needed to communicate. He knows I'm here but not that I'm awake yet..I wanted to talk to you before him.. I wanted us to get to know each other. I also know Will was feeling everything going on between you two and I didnt want to upset Blade or Will." My cheeks get hot, I totally forgot I was putting him through that. He must really think low of me. I remind myself he treated dad and Austin like crap and he doesn't own me.

"That makes sense. I'm glad it's just me and you…... Hey, do you know what my scent is? Or our scent I mean? Austin was supposed to tell me earlier but we uh.. Got carried away."

"I don't know our scent either.. What do you think it is?" I sigh, disappointed..

"Maybe something sweet."

"That would be nice! Like cherries or strawberries!" I laugh

"Wait, how do you know what those are?"

"It's not a prison in here Lanie, Although I couldn't reach out to you, I've been here the whole time. I've experienced everything you have."

"I'm sorry Thalia, I didn't mean it in a rude way I'm just curious I guess." She sighs and looks up at me.

"No Lanie, you are right. I'm new to being a werewolf too, I need to respect you as you respect me.."

"So you don't have parents?"

"Well, technically I was born with you so we share parents.."

"Do you remember our mother?"

"No, I know how much it hurts you that she is gone though Lanie.. I feel the same pain. She was my mother too." I jump up,

"So we're like sisters?" She smiles her wolfy smile which is so cute.

"Yes you could say that, Lanie you need to wake up, Dad is about to pull in."

"How do you know?"

"Well Dad is both of our dads so his wolf is also both our dads. I can sense Dad's wolf."

"Okay, how do I wake up?"

"Just open your eyes" I feel my eyes are closed so I slowly open them. I'm in my room but it's dark. I grab my phone and it's already 8pm. I smile because it was nice spending the whole day with Thalia. I feel my stomach growl and make my way to the kitchen. Before I open the fridge dad busts through the door.

"Lanie Bug! You got your wolf!" He pulls me into a hug and all the animosity I had toward him left. I could feel his aura radiating off him. Pride.
