Chapter 1: The Encounter
It was a crisp autumn evening in Paris, and the streets were alive with the sounds of laughter and music. Olivia strolled along the cobblestone paths, her scarf fluttering in the gentle breeze. Lost in thought, she almost didn't notice the man walking towards her until they collided, sending her books scattering across the ground.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" the man exclaimed, bending down to help her gather her things.
"It's okay, really," Olivia said, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
As she looked up, their eyes met, and she felt a jolt of something unfamiliar but thrilling.
"I'm Ethan," the man said with a warm smile, handing her back her books.
"Olivia," she replied, returning his smile. There was something about him that made her heart skip a beat.
"Are you headed somewhere?" Ethan asked, gesturing to the books in her arms.
"Just back to my apartment," Olivia said, shifting her weight awkwardly.
"I was just picking up some new reading material.""Mind if I walk with you?" Ethan asked, falling into step beside her.
Olivia hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Sure, why not?"
As they walked, they exchanged small talk about their lives. Olivia learned that Ethan was an artist who had recently moved to Paris to pursue his passion. She found herself captivated by his stories and the way he talked about his art with such passion.
Before they knew it, they had reached Olivia's apartment building. She turned to face Ethan, feeling a pang of disappointment that their time together was coming to an end.
"Well, this is me," she said, gesturing to the building behind her.
"It was really nice meeting you, Olivia," Ethan said, his eyes soft as he looked at her.
"You too, Ethan," Olivia replied, feeling a rush of warmth at the sound of his name.
As they said their goodbyes, Olivia couldn't shake the feeling that this chance encounter was just the beginning of something magical.
