Chapter Four

1214 Words
The house is lighter as we make our way through what seemed like a maze. I'm sure it wasn't like this last night. Rooms lined the hallways towards the stairs, although still eerily quiet. Dread filling me more with every step took. There's framed photographs lining the wall going down the stairs. I look at them, taking in the similar features on each, they must be related I thought. Then, I'm falling down. Clumsy feet, how can I not walk down stairs normally? I land with a bump at the bottom, "f**k", I hiss out. A laugh catches my attention, I look up and see Chad standing in front of me, amusement on his face and hand outstretched. "Careful there, buttercup." I swat his hand away and get myself up, dusting myself off. "Don't call me that", I grit, a scowl appearing on my face. He holds his hands up in mock surrender, trying not to laugh. He motions towards the left. I roll my eyes and continue. The foyer looks beautiful, classic black and white themed colours. Clean and sharp, like no one has ever been through it. I would not have imagined that it looked like this last night, it was so dark. The sound of voices pulls me from my awe and towards the large door we are approaching. I can't quite hear what is being said, but it seems as though there is a heated discussion going on. Maybe they're deciding my fate, maybe they will let me go as though none of this ever happened, seems unlikely but possible. "She needs to know the truth", is all I hear before Chad opens the door. That voice though, sent shivers through me. Good or bad, I dont know. "Ah, here she is" Alpha Aldrich states, as though we are long lost friends. He motions for me to come in further. "Thank you, Chad." "Of course, Alpha. See you around, buttercup." I turn around to glare at Chad, "I told you not to call me that". He just smirked and winked at me before leaving, closing the door behind him. I turn back to look around the room. We're in the kitchen, of course Chad did say breakfast. It is just as clean and sharp as the foyer, the black and white theme continuing. Its huge and grand looking, like the rest of the house, well what I've seen anyway. Alpha Aldrich clears his throat and I sit on a stool at the island. "As you know, I'm Alpha Aldrich and this is Luna Destiny", he motions to the woman on his right, "but you can address us as Alpha and Luna." I look at the woman and she is beautiful. Long blonde hair frames her delicate looking face and bright blue eyes remind me of a clear sky on a summers day. She smiles a friendly smile at me, and I can't help but return it. Being in her presence puts me at ease a little. "And this young man, is our son, the future alpha, Asher". I look at the young man, Asher, and I'm sure my heart stops. Shivers grip my body as I look into his eyes. I'm mesmerised by them, dark blue with a hint of another colour I can't see from where I'm sat. I exhale a breath I didn't know I was holding as I take in the rest of his features. His jaw just as sharp as his fathers, black messy hair gives the impression of just rolling out of bed and how I want to run my hands through it. I shake my head at this and bring myself back to reality, tearing my eyes away from the handsome creature in front of me. Destiny speaks softly, "now that introductions are out the way, how about some breakfast. What do you say Raven?" Not really listening I simply reply, "I'm not hungry, thank you". Then her words registered, as I raised my eyebrows, and eyes going wide, looking at her with both disbelief and shock, I asked "how do you know my name?" A silence fell around the room, not awkward, just a little uncomfortable. It felt like it lasted ages, but was probably only a few minutes. I was growing impatient and at this moment in time, I didn't care if they would rip to me pieces, I wanted to know. Crossing my arms over my chest, my heart pounding, I asked with anger in my voice, "Well, how do you know my name?" "That is no way to talk to your Luna!" Aldrich stated, his voice raised, mouth set in a straight line and anger showing in his eyes. "She is not my Luna." I shouted, my blood beginning to boil at the lack of answers. Before Aldrich could reply, Destiny put her hand on his shoulder in an attempt to calm him, "Asher, honey, why don't you take Raven back to her room". She sent me a small smile before Asher was by my side ushering me out. There was no emotion on his face, though I can't really blame him. We walked in silence, but I couldn't help but feel the heat coming from him. Or maybe, thats from the anger that's still boiling inside of me. I glance at his face out the corner of my eye, and he's even more beautiful up close. He stops in front of me, opens the door and holds it open as he motions for me to enter. Once in, I turn to face him, his eyes show the softness in his voice, "I can appreciate this is new and unknown", his eyes turning darker, a harshness tone in his voice as he continues, "but, don't you ever speak to my mother like that again!" And with that he shut the door, turned the key in the lock and I was alone. I spent a few moments staring at the door, taking in the events of that day. I felt bad for snapping at Destiny, she didn't deserve it. But, how do they know my name? What else do they know about me? I've never met them before. With that thought, the anger within that was slowly cooling rose to the surface. I screamed. A loud piercing scream that bounced of the walls. All the emotions I've held down came out. The anger, the sadness, the guilt all took over. I started throwing and smashing things in the room, in an attempt to make it stop, make the pain stop, make the emotions go away. But, it didn't. Tears freely falling down my face as I slumped onto the floor at the end of the bed, hugging my knees as I took in the destruction around me. A gentle hand on my shoulder caused me to flinch and look up at the owner. It was Destiny, sitting on the edge of the bed, with a soft reassuring smile on her face and a lone tear rolling down her cheek. "I-I-I'm sorry." I stammered out, looking into her hazel and golden eyes. "Shhh", she soothed as I laid my head on her lap and she stroked my hair. "It's okay sweetheart." That's the last I heard before I fell asleep.
