Chapter Forty-NineRosa pulled the duvet right up under her chin and snuggled into her mattress. Her dad had fallen asleep downstairs on the settee and, with the amount he’d drunk the previous night, she was confident he wouldn’t be up for hours. It gave her a little time to relax and to think about what was happening to her. Was she ill? She’d had an odd experience where she felt as though something was happening to her body, like she was losing control of it. Then, when it had passed, she saw that the pan on the stove was on fire, a roaring fire that would’ve engulfed the whole kitchen and then the house if she hadn’t have acted quickly to put it out.
