Little Rogue has been under my radar for the past four years. I knew when she left her pack and ran for safety. Every pack she settled in before she left and found rest in the human world was known to me. That was how much I knew her and the influence I had on her.
My men were following her everywhere and giving me constant reports about her whereabouts. I knew her like the back of my palm so all her defiance was expected. I was prepared for her stubborn attitude.
A man who wiped out her entire family is now her mate? Only a crazy being would accept that and move on. I totally understood her pain but there was nothing anyone could do about it. I love her and want her for myself.
There has never been a thing I wanted that I didn’t get. My throne commands over ten territories. I am feared far and wide, in all the werewolves’ packs. Well, except for one—the Bloodfang pack.
“The men are threatening to break down the border. I believe we need to schedule a meeting with their Alpha. There’s only a limit to what we can ignore,” Beta Orion announced as soon as he was let in
Sherlock’s pack keeps shaking things up and I didn’t want to wage war because of the relationship between our packs. My mother came from the pack and I wouldn’t want to hurt her homeland.
Since I had a lot to take care of, I told him to suspend any meeting and just strengthen the border with additional soldiers. He didn’t leave; I knew he had more to say and I could already guess what it was.
“She’s doing fine. She will adjust as the day goes by.”
I informed him before he would bring it up. His warm eyes lit up with a small smile before he nodded his head. I had known him for years, even if he doesn’t talk, I knew what he wanted to say.
“I heard about the dinner.”
News surely travels fast. I turned to look at him and said, “At this rate, you will know the color of my poo.”
We both laughed at my silly comment before I motioned for him to take a cup and join me in the wine session. I had a lot to clear off my mind since the previous night. I kept wondering the limit I could take.
“The yearly charity event is coming up. The office in charge is busy preparing everything that will be needed,” Orion informed me
The event is held for me to move closer to the wolves at the pack. It’s a day where I go out to the big square and spend time to them all. Their concerns would be brought forward and solutions would be provided either instantly or with a promise.
“I trust you to handle it well. I need to go for the next meeting.”
My goblet connected with the table as I emptied the content and stood up to leave the room. Orion and I have different schedules that fit our duties so we are rarely seen together except in special events. Even with that, we were always in sync and knew how to fill each other’s absence.
He had been my friend for years and we trained together under the guidance and friendship of our late fathers. Niamh read out the petition that was brought that caused the emergency meeting as I walked down the hallway to the hall.
We were about to turn to the hall’s route when I saw Aria waiting by the waterfall. She was sitting there like a lost child as she stared into the pool of water beside her.
“I will tell them to move her back to the room,” Niamh said and I raised my hand in objection.
“Just make sure she doesn’t cause any trouble. Let her take a look around,” I ordered and left for my meeting.
The meeting took longer than expected. Both parties were busy defending and arguing that I had to shut them up and pass my judgment when I got exhausted with their dramas. Passing by the waterfall, I saw that she was still there. This time, she was playing with the water and a little bit brighter.
I paused for a while to admire from afar. She was in the outfit she brought from the human world but something about her was different. Her beauty was still evident with the bare minimum.
Her long, wavy silver-blonde hair flowed down her back with the gentle evening wind. The left side of her face that was visible to me was carrying huge sorrow and burden that I could understand.
Slowly, my feet approached her before my brain could even process it. The cold air had taken effect on her skin; the hair was standing in attention, coupled with the fact that she was playing with the cold water.
With a stretch of hand, Niamh handed over the thick coat with her that was meant for me and I placed it over her from the back. For her not to catch my scent, she must have been deeply lost in thought.
At the touch of the coat on her body, she jolted back to life and rushed to her feet. Her gaze connected with mine and I folded my arms to the back.
“You will be of no use to me if you catch a cold and fall sick. One of your responsibilities is never to fall sick.”
My words were mean, I know but I needed her to know that she doesn’t own herself so she must take care of herself with the highest priority.
“It’s my body; I can do what I want with it,” she countered, turning her back and shoving the coat off
My hand encircled her wrist and turned her to face me. Her blue eyes were shining brightly with anger but that only infuriated me.
“Keep testing me and you will see how much I will break you.”
She only responded with a scoff. I didn’t know when I released an angry growl. My temper rose with each second. I couldn’t take her stubbornness that evening, thanks to the people who already got me riled up in the hall.
“No, it’s not your body. I own you, and I will make sure to engrave that in your heart, body, soul, and mind." my voice was harsh, dripping with authority.
I turned to Niamh, who was calmly watching the display. “The next time I see her in these clothes, I will make sure to cut everyone involved into meatballs.”
My gaze flickered back to her with my hand still holding her tightly, “Dare me, and watch me go feral until you submit.”
With that, I flung her hand away and stomped off in anger.
