“Oh father! You know I come up with the best plans because of you! You are an epitome of greatness and no one must question it. I can’t wait till we own every kingdom in the world, father! We’ll own the moon and the stars right afterwards. We’ll own the world and everything in it. How great would that be?” the prince passionately said as if his only purpose with his life is to conquer the earth. He is so excited with everything he’s imagining right now and he is also excited with his wicked plan that he knows for sure will succeed. They always does, well in the last twenty kingdoms that they have secretly conquered, at least. So, this one will never be an exception.
They spent the rest of their conversation picturing their already meant victory and celebrating over the moon covered with all the earth’s treasures.
Back to Scarlet’s POV…
“Get up, you fools! The king is going to let you out with a big warning to never speak of all this with anyone, or it will be off with both of your heads! He commanded the both of you to go back to your own kingdom, never to return here!” a royal guard laid out the king’s message to us in a harsh and aggressive way. I know he’s been demanded to, but these poor guards, being brainwashed by the king and the prince’ words and deeds of deception.
As the dungeons opened as well as the gates of the castle opened, we immediately rushed to our carriage, so we could finally go back home to safety.
“Princess, you must have been enjoying yourselves in there. You were inside longer than I thought. It’s been days and I was getting worried for awhile there. Thought you’d never go back home. ” the coachman uttered, clueless of what just happened to us.
“We just had some business to take care of inside. But please do check on us if you will not see us far past the expected time we told you we’d be at any place.”
“I did check on you, princess. That night we first spent here, I did try to go in but they won’t let me in. I thought I was just not authorized to come inside and so I just asked if you were alright. They told me that you were going to stay the night and that you were having feasts of some sort inside. So I thought, I should not disturb or anything. Few days followed and I was getting worried but they hand me the letters you wrote telling me to just go home for awhile and come back as soon as we received another letter at the castle. Yesterday, I received it, so now I’m here. And I am glad that you are both safe, princess.”
“I appreciate what you did and thank you for your concern. Just take us home quickly now, please we had long days behind us.” I replied to him. I couldn’t tell anyone yet about what happened. I have to plan first how I am to handle this incident. I know it’s not yet finish. How can they just let us go with a warning when they already threatened our lives and the kingdom horribly. I know that they are still up to something and I can’t let them get away with it.
“Mother, are you alright?” I asked my mother who’s been staring far away ever since we got to the coach. She seems overwhelmed and is still crushed with what happened to us. I mean who wouldn’t? We were just gladly paying a visit to a supposed friend who turned out the greatest enemy we’ll have to face right now. I couldn’t even explain the amount of rage that is boiling in my blood right now!
My mother is still not responding to my question and is still zoning out. I hugged her tightly and tears started to roll down my cheeks. I held her hands after hugging her and I just kept apologizing and comforting my mother who is in obvious shock. I guess she wouldn’t be able to tell father all about this.
We continued with the ride in a very tiresome state that we both fell asleep deeply the rest of the ride.
When we finally arrived at our castle, I have to pretend that everything is alright or else everyone would worry and even panic. That would be another problem and so I need to act like we really did just had a long visit to the Creagan Kingdom.
Thankfully, I received a good news upon arriving in the castle. Father would be coming home tomorrow. It is such a perfect timing. I know, for sure that he will be able to help us with this.
Mother and I then rested immediately upon reaching home.
Later that night…
“I am so glad that you’re home, father! Oh, you have no idea how long we’ve been waiting for your arrival. We need you right now, father. Please stay just for now. We have to tell you something really important.” I told father as soon as he stepped inside the castle’s front door.
“I’m so sorry, my dear. I want to listen to you, all day if you wanted to but right now is not the best time. Let’s talk about it later, alright? I just arrived and I really need to lie down.” father replied to me in a tired voice.
“I understand, father, I really do. I just hope that we could discuss it later because it is quite urgent. But please do rest for now, father.” I told him and I hugged him tightly afterwards. As I hug him, my hands are starting to feel a wet, thick substance on my hands and on my father’s back. As I take a look to see what it was, my heart went cold and I am just so shocked with what I saw.
