Chapter 49

SCARLET’S POV “Stop it…Please Dem, stop it! STOP IT!!!” I shouted and as I open my eyes I found myself inside of the small room in Varan’s store. My heart is still pounding very fast, I am sweating and out of breath as if I just ran from Draco to Tynewt. It was just a dream; a very bad dream, a nightmare that is still haunting me. Why do I have to see that horrid face again?? I just realized how he looked so much like a monster ever since. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FLASHBACK “Are you ready, darling? The coach is ready and we shall go on our way.” mother has greeted as she passed by me on her way out. “Be right there, mother. I’ll just wait for Demetrius. We’ll walk there together.” I replied. I went to go look for Demetrius wherever he might be in the castle. I arrived at the garden, our usual hangout area and found him there. He was just about to leave to go meet me so, it was a nice timing. “The coach is ready, mother said we need to go.” I said to him. “I was just about to, you know.” he said to me with a slight grin on his face. As we walk on the way out he asked, “So are you ready to meet my father again? It’s been long since you saw him.” “Oh yes, why wouldn’t I be ready? But to be honest, he is a little bit intimidating the first time I saw him. You know, unlike you who have a gentler aura than he is. I guess maybe because he’s so powerful and respected by many.” I replied to him. “You’ll be alright. I know he likes you already and I know you’re already part of the family.” He uttered. We then rode the coach when we arrived and drove off to their palace. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We finally arrived and there we saw King Darius at the front door ready to greet us. He ushered us towards their great hall. Inside the hall was a long table full of bountiful feast that is enough to feed the entire people in the castle. Whilst their hall is enough to fit the whole of Avery in it, well that is an exaggeration but it is very grand and big. We started to eat and all was going well as mother and the king hit it off with a casual and friendly conversation. I thought everything was well until the king started to say something that surprised me so much. “I am so glad that your daughter is going to be a part of the Creagan family. And I just have the best idea for the wedding.” “Wait what?? What are you talking about, king Darius?” my mother asked as she was also confused with what he said. “The wedding is set for our dear lovebird over here, which is what I am talking about. You see, it’s been over a year now and your daughter is practically my son’s possession. You have set foot in this castle and that’s just how it is and how it is going to be.” the king said. I looked over at Demetrius to see if he’s going to say something because what the king said is so wrong on so many levels. But instead I saw him smiling and agreeing to his father completely. His smile looks so happy as if he was getting a present on his birthday or something. “Dem, what the hell is your father talking about??” I asked him with a very worried and pissed look on my face. “Well, I’ve been meaning to tell you but I couldn’t find the right timing so I thought it’d be best if father told you. Think of it as a surprise.” He said in a very confident and arrogant tone. Minutes ago, he was this gentle and kind person and now he’s suddenly turning into a monstrous-like villain that I am starting to really hate. “What the hell is wrong with you, people??” I burst out. “I’m sorry, king Darius, but there must be some kind of mistake here. My daughter will not marry your son. He’s not even courting her. Isn’t ethical to ask for the maiden’s hand first before claiming her as a wife? And my daughter is definitely not your son’s possession!” mother uttered in her pissed tone. “Well, those are my rules and you gave me permission the moment you laid your feet on my grounds!” the king declared. “What?? We clearly just visited here to have a fine dinner with you as we have talked about. How nonsensical could your statement be??” my mother sarcastically said. “Dem, I thought we were friends??” I gloomily and disappointingly said to him. “How clueless of you to have never thought of us, being together?? Aren’t my gestures obvious enough to shout that out??” he said to me, as if it was my entire fault for not thinking that. “They were gestures of a thoughtful friend! That was what I thought and I also thought that you were different from them. But now, you’re the worst of them all, Dem! The worst! Even if you meant all that as a means of courting, you couldn’t just claim people to be yours as if you own the whole world and you could do whatever you want! I am most certainly not for anyone to own and I definitely wouldn’t marry you even in the afterlife!” I madly told him off. “Enough!!! You are inside my territory and I would not tolerate this madness! You must marry my son or you will get to taste the horror of the Creagan Empire. Do as we say and we’ll all live happily ever after, or resist us and you’ll have your happily die after.” King Darius wickedly declared and Demetrius sat beside him smirking widely at us.
