Chapter 3 - Elders..?

What? They are the elders? These people are not even up to 40years. How can they be elders.

"What? How can you be elders? Aren't you all are just too young. Aren't elders suppose to be old wrinkled people" I asked him

They all gave me a straight face before bursting up in laughter and Kellan spoke up "You’re right. Aside from the old wrinkled people, Everyone are older than they look"

I looked at them puzzled

Elijah explained now "Rain there are six elders. Two from the Vamipre Clan, Two from the Wolves, and the remaining Two are Alphas which you know to be Ben and Kendra. They are standing for the witches, the guardians and non-magicals, depending on the territory those ones reside at" I nodded telling him to continue

He looked at me more almost debating if he should or not "Well Kendra is the youngest of us, she’s 66 " I looked at her surprised. She looks 30s or something not 66.

He continued "Ben, in his 80s " My mouth dropped and I see Ben laughing uncontrollably "Kellan, over 200 and Ingrid, 3 Centuries correct?" he looked at ingrid seeing if really he is correct and she nodded

I was staring, lost and confused or should I say scared "Please say something" Elijah whispered enough for me to hear.

I just can't find the right word to say. "How?"

"Well Valara is different, humans like yourself, Kendra/Ben, the non magical folks or witches age slowly. Then the wolves and vamps have so sort of immortality but we all have weapons that could kill us" Elijah explained

“So we’ll grow old? Just not as fast?” I asked sad

“Yes we would” we would Ben answered

"So what are you 3" I pointed to Kellan, ingrid and Elijah

"Ingrid and I are Wolves " kellan answered

I looked at Elijah. He was looking everywhere but me "and you must be a Vampire " I said softly and he looked up to my eyes nodding like he was ashamed

"Was Jackson a Vampire too" I asked looking at him

He smiled "No he wasn't. He was born a guardian. A very skilled one"

I nod smiling about that. Happy he wasn't any bloodsucking creature "He said you and Kendra were family." I paused and looked at Kendra

“Are you my-“ I couldn’t say it, I stared down at my hands playing with them.

Kellan, ingrid and Ben stood up and Ben spoke "We'll leave you 3 to talk" and they walked out leaving Kendra Elijah and I

“Are you my Mom” I asked her hoping to be true

Kendra came closer and bent in front of me holding my hands “I wish I was” she smiled

“I’m your Aunt, your Mom’s younger sister. Oh my, you look so much like her” she answered touching my hair down to my face

“Where is she” I asked “Did something happen” I asked again

Kendra looked at Elijah and back at me. “She is alive, it is complicated and I promise you I will tell you all about it later.” I nodded cos I believe she would.

"I’ll go back to go get some rest” I told them both and they nodded

Thankfully the guard that brought me here earlier was still at the door and he escorted me back

I walked to the window taking a look outside with the curtains shifted to the side. This place isn't so different. From above here, I could see the woods, and downstairs I saw small children playing.

"He loves children too" I got startled and saw Kendra behind me. She pulled me with her to the bed and made us both seat. I know she was talking about Elijah

"Well he didn't love me for giving me up" I told her sincerely

"Rain you don't understand. He never wanted to let go of you but we had no choice. Michael was coming after you and we didn't want to lose you, so we sent you and Jackson hoping to get you back after Michael left. So many years and we haven’t defeated him.

I know it is all too much to take in but it was harder for your father. His family gone, His wife, You, Jackson? it was hell for him. Your father was broken, thankfully we had each other. He would always contact Jackson when you were little to know how you were faring " Kendra finished. She wipes her tears .

"We both have her eyes" she smiled

"Who" I asked

"Your mother" she said as her smiles dropped

"What Happened to her?"

“You know? She’s also an Alpha. She’s one of the most powerful Alphas we’ve had in years, some say." she told me smiling and I shrugged a little " What’s her power like" I asked her
