Chapter 31 Alice POV We were having an amazing day. Well… most of it was amazing. The 3D roller coaster? Absolutely not. I had made a promise to myself that I would never get on that damn thing again. Ever. I still couldn't understand why people enjoyed being thrown around, upside down, and nearly having their souls leave their bodies. “Ice, if you ever convince me to get on that thing again, just know that I will hate you forever.”oo He had laughed at me so hard that I had wanted to smack him. But everything else had been incredible. I loved walking around and seeing all the different attractions. The colorful fish had been my favorite. I could have stood there for hours watching them swim together in huge groups, darting around the rocks and hiding whenever someone came too close. It was peaceful. Beautiful. And somehow, being there with Ice made everything feel even better. We were talking when suddenly my stomach growled loudly. I froze. Ice looked down at me. I looked up at him. Neither of us said anything for a second. Then he smiled. “Hungry?” I rolled my eyes. “Maybe a little.” “Okay… maybe more than a little. I hadn't eaten anything since this morning, when I'd cooked myself some eggs. I wasn't really someone who ate a lot. I wasn't skinny, but I wasn't big either. I liked the way I looked, and honestly, I didn't want to change myself for anyone. And judging by the way Ice looked at me sometimes, he seemed to like me exactly the way I was. We headed toward his motorcycle, and I climbed on behind him. The second his engine came to life, I wrapped my arms around his waist. I couldn't help myself. I loved being on the back of his bike. There was something about being pressed against him, feeling the warmth of his body beneath my hands, that made my heart beat faster. I wanted to run my hands up and down his chest, but I stopped myself. Mostly. Every time I touched him, I felt those strange little sparks again. At first, they had shocked me. Now? I looked forward to them. They would shoot through my fingers and travel up my arms, leaving this warm, tingling sensation behind. So naturally, I kept finding excuses to touch him. I had never felt anything like this before. Was this what it felt like when you were really into someone? Because if it was…I loved it. The ride to the restaurant seemed way too short. When Ice pulled into the parking lot, I almost wished we could keep riding.,We climbed off the bike and walked inside. The moment we entered, a hostess came toward us with a huge smile on her face. But the second she looked at Ice, I didn't like the way that smile changed. She barely even acknowledged me. Her eyes were completely focused on him. My irritation started building immediately. She walked right up to him. “Sir, we have your usual table ready. Do you have company this afternoon, or are you waiting for someone?” I swear I saw Ice's eyes change. For just a second, they looked almost black. Then they were green again. He actually snarled at her. I blinked. What the hell was that? I didn't say anything, though. The more time I spent around Ice, the more strange things I noticed. And the more strange things I noticed, the more questions I had. It was like he was constantly trying to hide something from me. And the problem was… I was starting to see through him. “Yeah, Cheryl,” Ice said coldly. “I have my girlfriend here with me. And with all due respect, I don't appreciate you disrespecting her by ignoring her.” He reached for me and pulled me against his side. Girlfriend. Wait. Did he just call me his girlfriend? My heart skipped. I looked up at him, but he was already looking down at me. For some reason, hearing him call me that sent this strange warmth through my entire body. I liked it. A lot more than I probably should have. “Oh… your girlfriend,” Cheryl said quickly. She finally looked at me. “Excuse me, ma'am. I'm so sorry. Let me show you to your table.” We followed her through the restaurant. She led us toward the back, where there was a booth tucked away in a quiet corner. There wasn't much light, and we weren't close to any of the other customers. It almost felt hidden. Honestly, I didn't care. I just wanted to sit down, eat, and enjoy the rest of our day. Ice pulled my chair out for me before taking the seat across from me. I smiled slightly. “Thank you.” He nodded. But before I could say anything else, I felt it. That strange sensation. Like someone was watching us. I glanced around the restaurant. Nothing. Nobody was staring. At least, nobody I could see. Still, the feeling wouldn't go away. I didn't like it. Not one bit. Ice seemed to notice my discomfort. “I'm sorry about Cheryl.” I looked at him. “We went out on one date a few years ago. She's still mad because that was all it ever was. I took her home, and that was it.” I almost laughed. “Ice, you don't have to explain that to me.” He looked surprised. “That happened years ago. If I'm going to be your girlfriend…which is what you called me, right?” A small smile tugged at his lips. I took a breath. “All I want is honesty. I want someone who's faithful and loyal. Faithful. That's all I've ever wanted.”,I looked down at the table for a moment. “Randy never gave me that.” I hadn't realized how little I thought about Randy anymore until I said it out loud. “Honestly, I don't even think about him that much lately. I've been here, and I've been… happy.” Ice reached across the table, but I continued. “But I'm going to be honest with you too.” His expression changed. “I know you're hiding something from me.” He went completely still. “I can feel it.” I wasn't angry. Not yet. “Whatever it is, I know you'll tell me when you're ready. But don't wait too long.” I gave him a pointed look. “Because I might find out myself.” A small smile crossed my lips.“And when I do, I'm going to have a whole lot of questions.” Ice sighed and leaned back. “Alice…” “When the time is right, I will tell you everything,” he said quietly. “I just need to know you can handle it.,” I frowned. “There are things you might not understand. Things you've never seen before. Things that might scare you so badly that you could run from me.” His eyes locked with mine. “But I promise you one thing.” He reached across the table and took my hand. “You will always be safe with me and my people.” I nodded slowly. I had absolutely no idea what he meant. But I wasn't going to push him. Not yet. When the time came, I would listen. And then I would decide for myself whether I could handle whatever secret he was keeping. A few minutes later, the waitress came over to take our orders. And once again… Another woman was staring at Ice like he was the last man on Earth. I tried to ignore it. I really did. But eventually, I couldn't keep my mouth shut. “Excuse me.” The waitress looked at me. “You're here to take our order, correct?” “Yes, ma'am.” “Then take our order and stop acting like I'm not sitting right here beside him.” Her eyes widened. “And stop looking at my man like he's a piece of meat.” Ice coughed, clearly trying not to laugh. The waitress's face turned red. “I'm sorry, ma'am. Let me take your drink order first.” I leaned back. “Thank you.” Ice was looking at me with amusement. “What?” “Nothing.” “Good.” He smiled. I knew exactly what he was thinking. And honestly? I didn't care. I liked him. He was mine. At least… I hoped he was. Ice POV First Cheryl. And now the waitress. Every woman in this damn restaurant seemed to think they had a chance with me. They didn't. Not anymore. They all knew I'd found my mate. Yet somehow, they were still acting like Alice wasn't sitting right beside me. My wolf was already irritated. “Mate. Protect mate.” I mentally sighed. “I know.” “They stare at mate.” “I know.” “Make them stop.” “Skull, calm down.” Cheryl had taken us to my usual table in the back. Most people didn't know this section existed. It was private, quiet, and perfect for pack business and meetings. That was one of the reasons I liked it. She eventually left us alone. Then the waitress, Tally, came over. She walked straight toward me, barely acknowledging Alice. And before I could say anything, Alice handled it herself. I stared at my mate. Damn. She was tough. I liked that. A lot. My wolf practically purred inside my head. “Mate strong.” I couldn't disagree. I explained to Alice about Cheryl and the date we'd gone on years ago. But what she said afterward stayed with me. She wanted honesty. Faithfulness. Loyalty. Things I could give her. The problem was the truth. I wasn't just some biker who owned a motorcycle and had a few strange friends. I was a werewolf. An Alpha. And Alice? She was human. At least, as far as I knew. I didn't know how she would react when she learned the truth. Maybe she'd scream. Maybe she'd run. Maybe she'd look at me like I was some kind of monster. My wolf growled. “Tell mate everything.” “Not yet.” “Trust mate. Tell mate.” “Skull, calm down.” “She will not leave us.” I wished I could be as certain as he was. But for now, I wanted today to be about Alice. Not secrets. Not the pack. Not supernatural politics. Just us. After we finished eating, we climbed back onto the motorcycle. I wrapped my hands around the handlebars as Alice climbed on behind me. Her arms immediately slipped around my waist. My wolf practically howled. “Mate!” I smiled. She was becoming more comfortable around me every day. That mattered. “Maybe tomorrow before work,” I said, “I'll show you how to ride a motorcycle.” She leaned closer. “That sounds dangerous.” I laughed. “That Dodge is badass, but being on a bike feels different. More freedom.” She didn't answer right away. But I could feel her smiling against my back. When we finally reached the house, she climbed off and turned toward me. “I'd like that.” Then she smiled. “Thank you for today. I really needed it.” Before I could respond, she stepped closer and leaned up. Her lips softly touched mine. My entire body froze. “Mate kissed us.” My wolf went crazy. “MATE KISSED US!” I wrapped my arms around her. The soft kiss quickly turned deeper as I pulled her closer, losing myself in the moment. For a few seconds, nothing else existed. Just Alice. .Just me. Just the feeling of having my mate in my arms. Eventually, we pulled apart, both catching our breath. I smiled. “How about I come up later? We can watch a movie or something. Just hang out. Nothing more.” She smiled. “I'd like that.” She nodded. “Let me shower and rest for a little while. Say around seven?” “Seven it is.” “I'll have popcorn ready.” “And beer.” I laughed. “Sounds like a plan. I'm going to see what the guys are up to, and then I'll come up there.” She kissed me once more before heading upstairs. The second she disappeared inside, my wolf started howling. “Mate kissed us! She kissed us!” “I know.” “She likes us!” “I know.” ‘Mate is ours!’ I shook my head. “She agreed to be my girlfriend.” There was silence for a second. Then.. “Our girlfriend.” I smiled. “Our girlfriend.” “Happy.” “I know.” “Very happy.” “Calm down. We'll see her again in a few hours.” I headed toward the clubhouse, still smiling like an i***t. “So…” I stopped. Angelo was standing there with a huge grin on his face. Gale was beside him, wearing an even bigger smirk. “How did it go?” Angelo asked. I narrowed my eyes. “You two have been watching?” “We saw the kiss,” Gale said. I groaned. Of course they had. Angelo laughed. “Brother, the way she kissed you? That woman looked like she wanted to rip your clothes off.” “Angelo.” “What? I'm just saying.” Gale folded her arms. “Have you told her yet?” My smile disappeared. “No.” Gale's expression softened. “But you're going to?” “I will.” “When?” “Soon.” She nodded. “She deserves to know.” “I know.” ngelo slapped my shoulder. “So what's the plan tonight?” “I'm going upstairs around seven. We're watching a movie. Just hanging out.” “And?” I looked at him. “And nothing.” He laughed. “Right.” “She agreed to be my girlfriend,” I said. Angelo smiled, “That's a start.” “Yeah,” I said quietly. “It is.” Gale looked toward the stairs. “Let's just hope she doesn't run when she finds out everything.” My chest tightened. I didn't want to think about that. “She won't,” I said, though I wasn't sure if I was trying to convince them or myself. Gale smiled. “She'll be our Luna someday.” I looked toward the house where Alice was waiting upstairs. Our Luna. The thought sent warmth through me. I smiled. “I hope so.” Angelo laughed. “You're already gone, brother.” I shook my head. “Maybe.” But deep down, I already knew the truth. I wasn't falling for Alice. I had already fallen.
