Chapter 21
Randy POV
I had hired someone strange. He told me he knew exactly who I was talking about and said she had been in town for a few weeks. For the right amount of money, he would find her for me. The man was weird as hell. One second, his eyes looked completely black. The next, they almost looked golden. Maybe it was just the lighting, or maybe my mind was playing tricks on me, but there was something about him that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
He was a motorcycle rider and rode a damn nice Harley Davidson. The bike was black with a wolf skull painted on the side, surrounded by flames. It looked pretty badass, but there was something creepy about it too.
He wasn't alone, either. He hung around with about thirty other motorcycle riders, and honestly, they looked even creepier than he did. I looked at him and crossed my arms. "So, what's the price to look for her?"
He smirked and glanced around at my guys before looking back at me. "Ten grand."
I almost choked. "Ten thousand?"
"That's my final offer," he said. "There are no ifs, ands, or buts. That's what I want. If you can't afford it, then forget about it."
Ten f*****g grand. I sighed and looked at Franky. He just shook his head. "If you want to find your girl, I suggest you pay it. You already owe me a new f*****g car, dude."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Give me a few hours. I need to head to the bank."
And that's exactly what I did. I drove to the bank, walked inside, and requested ten thousand dollars in cash. The teller looked at me strangely.
"Is everything okay, sir? That's a pretty large withdrawal."
I gave her a smile.,"Yeah, everything's good, ma'am. I'm thinking about getting a new car, so I'm taking the money out. I like paying in cash."
She nodded, apparently accepting my excuse. "I'll place it in a large envelope for you."
She disappeared into the back for a few minutes. When she finally returned, she handed me a thick envelope filled with cash. I took it from her and smiled.
She smiled back. "I hope you find whatever you're looking for." Then she hesitated before adding, "And maybe we could go out sometime."
I raised an eyebrow. I couldn't help but chuckle under my breath.
Yeah, sweetheart. You have no idea what you're asking for.
That smile would look great on your knees. But I didn't say that.
Instead, I smiled. "Sure. How about tomorrow night? I'll pick you up. Here's my number. Send me your address, and I'll be there around eight."
She nodded, pulled out her phone, and entered my number.
A few seconds later, my phone buzzed with her address. "I'll be there. Don't you worry."
Later that night, I was sitting in the same restaurant, waiting.
And waiting. Two f*****g hours passed before he finally walked through the door. He was wearing his leather vest, chaps over his jeans, and that same creepy look on his face. He slid into the booth across from me and held out his hand. "Where's my money?"
I stared at him. "Before I do anything tonight, I need to see it."
I pulled the package from beside me and slid it across the table.
He opened it, looked inside, and nodded. "Give me three hours. I'll come to you and let you know where she's at."
I nodded and started to get up. But before I could leave, he grabbed my arm. "Oh, by the way..." I looked down at his hand. "Don't even think about changing your mind and wanting your money back. This deal is set in stone. You're not getting s**t back, man."
I jerked my arm away. "Yeah. Whatever." I hurried out of the restaurant. That asshole gave me the creeps. I stepped outside and looked up at the sky. Dark clouds covered everything. Not a single star was visible. It looked like rain was coming. I shook my head and headed back toward the hotel. Hopefully, I'd hear from that jackass soon. I had no idea what I had just gotten myself into.
Butch POV
I would've taken a thousand dollars if he'd offered it. But ten grand?
Hell, that was even better. Ten thousand dollars could buy a hell of a lot of tools and keep the bikes running for a long time. The funny part? I already knew exactly where the woman was. She had been working at Alpha Ice's biker bar, tthe place where the wolves gathered to fight, drink, have fun, and blow off the stress of the day.
I'd been there a few times while she was working. She knew how to handle herself. For a human, she was stronger than most people I'd met.
I walked inside. I had barely taken a few steps toward the bar when one of Ice's pack members stepped in front of me.
"Where the f**k do you think you're going?" He looked me up and down. "Why are you here? You're in our territory."
I smirked. "I know where I am." I nodded toward the bar. "I was heading over there to grab a drink and maybe talk to that hottie sitting at the bar. So get the f**k out of my way. I'm just here for a drink, then I'll be on my way."
Before he could answer, I felt a powerful presence behind me.
I turned around. Alpha Ice was standing right in my face. "Why are you here, Butch?"
I smiled. Interesting. He was already protecting the human.
Something was definitely going on. And maybe I could use that to my advantage. "Oh, I'm here to grab a drink and maybe talk to that sexy little human at the bar."
Ice growled. "You will leave right the f**k now, or you can die. Your decision."
I chuckled. "What's going on with that human, Ice? Why aren't you letting me talk to her?"
"She's under my protection." His eyes hardened. "My advice, Butch? Leave. Or I'll kick your f*****g ass."
I laughed. “Under his protection?” “Yeah, right.”
I had a feeling that human wasn't just some random woman he was protecting. She was his mate. And judging by the way he was acting, he wasn't ready to admit it yet.
I grinned. "I'll be back, Ice." Then I walked out. I had a plan.
And that plan was already in motion. I climbed onto my bike and headed toward the hotel where the human's boyfriend was staying.
If everything went according to plan, tomorrow night was going to be very interesting. I parked outside the hotel and headed upstairs.
When I reached his room, I knocked. He opened the door and let me inside.
"So?" he asked. "What did you find?"
I gave him a disappointed look. "I went to several places. I even checked the biker bar." He leaned forward. "She's not there."
"What?"
"I think she ran again. Probably because she knew you were looking for her."
He cursed under his breath. "I overheard a few bikers talking. They said the new girl quit, packed her bags, and hurried out of town."
He shook his head. "I'm not sure where she's going, but she's probably several hours ahead of you by now."
He laughed bitterly. "She's always thinks shes few hours ahead of me." Then his expression changed. "But she won't get far. Once she realizes she's running out of money, she'll have no choice but to stop.",He leaned back. "I've got a date tomorrow night anyway. I'll go looking for her after a few days. Make her think I can't find her."
I nodded. "I understand." Inside, I was already smiling. I knew about the date.
And if everything went according to plan, he wouldn't be leaving that date anytime soon. "Alright, man. I'll catch you on the flip side."
"Yeah." I walked out of the room. I didn't make the call until I was downstairs. I stepped outside, pulled out my phone, and dialed.
Someone answered almost immediately.
"So, you know what to do tomorrow, correct?"
"Yeah, Boss. I do."
I smiled. "Good."
"He's my mate. He won't get very far. Once he has me, he'll forget about her in no time. She'll be all yours for the taking."
"Good. Good." I looked around to make sure no one was nearby.
"Make sure you look real sexy tomorrow. He won't be able to keep his hands to himself."
"Plan on it."
The call ended. I slipped my phone into my pocket and climbed back onto my motorcycle. As I rode home, one thing kept running through my mind. That human. Damn. I couldn't stop thinking about her. There was something about her that pulled at me, something I couldn't explain. But I pushed the thought away. I had a job to finish.
And tomorrow night, everything was going to change. I just hoped Ice didn't figure out what I was doing before it was too late.
