Chapter one
Walking down the halls of wolfsbane Highschool is nothing new to me. The whole process is just rinse and repeat, fade into the background and draw as little attention to yourself as possible. That’s what I tell myself anyways. I’ve always been then outcast within my pack and while the rest of them blend so naturally together, I’m here sitting on the sidelines. It’s strange for me to be like this considering my parents are both in important roles within the pack my dad is our beta and my mom is our healer. I on the other hand am not in as important of a role. I’m the closest thing the pack has to a omega as I have always been behind compared to my pack mates. While most of the had their first shifts between ten or eleven I didn’t get mine until I was almost seventeen. My whole pack was devastated, they were convinced I was wolfless. They even went as far as to pull me out of wolfsbane high since the school has wolves from three packs attending letting me go without a wolf would’ve made our pack seem weak. Unfortunately it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why I was gone for my junior year of Highschool and the whole school knew it even if most didn’t let on that they knew. I was only allowed to return this year because of my approaching eighteenth birthday, which conveniently is today, for hopes I’d be able to find my mate and maybe be transferred to another pack. I have high doubts my luck will be that high. My wolf has always been quiet ever since my first shift a year ago she doesn’t communicate as frequently as others wolves do. It’s almost as if she’s afraid I’ll disappoint her as well, and thats a stinging pain I have to live with every day. Ever since my first shift I’ve only been able to shift on instinct when I feel threatened, scared, angry, or extremely hurt. Once that shift occurs I’ve never been able to shift back on my own I’ve always had to be sedated until my wolf has calmed down enough to let me come back. These thoughts plague me as I wonder down the hall toward my seventh and last class of the day “shifter history”. That’s when the smell hits me it’s the most intoxicating thing I have ever smelt and I can’t resist following where it pulls me. I lightheadedly follow the smell pretty much on cloud nine when I hit the wall. All of a sudden I’m knocked back into my senses as a large male I faintly recognize stares at me from where he has me pinned against the wall. “Mine” I hear him growl as he inhales my scent. That’s the last thing I hear as my panic sets in and a raging pain spreads throughout my body. I will the pain to stop but it doesn’t the snapping and popping starts in my fingers and toes as they contort with a white hot burn. I let out a muffled scream that is half howl as the pain spreads to my legs and arms and finally to my spine as I’m forced to double over onto all fours. When I can finally look up from the black fur on my paws I finally get a good look at the man I front of me he’s tall at least six feet tall with unnaturally white hair and piercing green eyes. I let out a snarl at him as a warning while trying to back myself further into the wall. I hear the mumbling of the other wolves around me as everyone stares at me curiously. After what seems like an eternity of snapping and snarling at my classmates I hear footsteps thundering down the hall toward me, and then just as sudden as the footsteps come my world goes black.
