Days turned to weeks and melded together into one, big blur. The weather hadn’t been favorable for the past month, and Leira found herself holed up into either her office or her room. She hadn’t called for Ezair since their tense conversation. She needed time to gather herself and really think about what she wanted and how to become happier. Her husband had left again two weeks prior to attend to the villages that weren’t holding up against the fierce weather. He had left her a note explaining that he was leaving again and apologized for the short notice. One of the villages was on the brink of starvation, and he was losing sleep over it.
