Normal Day
It was 5am when I could feel the warm sun shining through the shades in my tiny room. I pushed the covers off me and sat up. I stretched a little and looked around my room. It was the smallest omega room in the Crescent pack house but I worked out a deal with Luna Mary to where it was free. I had a single bed that was lumpy and used, one small table that wiggled and a small desk with an old wooden crate with a blanket thrown over it as a chair. Next to the desk was a small rough looking dresser that was missing the bottom drawer so I stored my only two pairs of shoes there. In the corner behind the door I had a clothes rack where I stored my nicest shirts, jacket and a winter coat. On the wall next to the clothes rack hung a tall mirror that had a corner broken off.
I slipped on my purple slippers and shuffled over to my tall mirror and looked at my just rolled out of bed look. I wasn't the tallest she-wolf, I was only 5' 7" with long caramel blonde hair knotted up in a messy bun on top of my head. My golden brown eyes sparkled in the morning sun. I grabbed my maid outfit and threw it on really fast. I let my hair down and ran a brush through it, then took it back in a high ponytail. I grabbed my bathroom caddy that was sitting on top of my dresser, opened my door and headed to the omega bathroom.
The omega quarters were located on the opposite side of that pack house. The Crescent pack is the largest pack on the west side of the United States, located in Washington state. Between pack grounds and the human town, Crescent pack has over 800 pack members so the pack house was almost the size of a castle, with 5 stories high with an attic and a basement. The high born wolves never go down to the omega quarters.
I got to the shared omega bathroom. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. Did one final look and was fine with the results. I looked at the watch on my wrist, 5:45am. I needed to be in the kitchen at 6am to start breakfast. When I was younger working my way in the pack to earn my keep, I was only a maid but now I get paid. I was able to convince Lynette, the kitchen lead, to give me some hours in the kitchen as long as I'm not late or mess anything up. I got back to my room and slipped on my flat shoes and headed to the kitchen. By the time I walked through the house and made it to the kitchen it was 6am. I grabbed my apron and started pulling out ingredients to make breakfast. We usually do a breakfast bar in the morning just because not everyone wakes up at the same time. As I started making breakfast, Lynette came out of her office.
"Good morning", I greeted her.
"Good morning Rose '' she replied.
It was quiet for a while. She usually didn't talk to me unless she had to but the regular cook just had a baby so she would be out for a few more weeks so Lynette was stuck with me.
"Don't burn the muffins this morning" she said in a snotty way. I had no idea what she was talking about. I've never burned muffins before. "Alpha Caine specifically asked for muffins this morning" she continued.
I nodded my head as I understood and set the oven to 375 to make sure I didn't burn them. As I started to mix the muffin batter, I heard the chirpiest voice in the world. "Good morning" the voice called out in a singing tone. I looked up to see my best friend, actually my only pack friend, to walk into the kitchen looking gorgeous as always. Arora was the Gamma's daughter. She is taller than me with long blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. She is training to be the next Gamma, which explains why she's up so early.
"Muffins for breakfast?" Arora asked, pointing to the muffin tins.
"Yep" I replied, "Alpha Caine requested them" I finished.
"Delicious" she said with a smile "What time do you have to be at class today?" She asked me. Arora doesn't go to college since she'll be Gamma to Shane, unless someone challenges her for Gamma, her future is basically mapped out.
"I have class at 10" I responded I looked at my watch and saw it was almost 7am. good thing these muffins done take long or breakfast would be late and I would be fired.
"Do you want to hang out before you go to class?" Arora asked curiously.
"I'm cleaning the first floor before I leave for class, since I have the day off tomorrow I probably won't come home after class."
"Oh, OK" she said understanding my busy schedule. "Later than" she added. I nodded my head.
"Staying with Nick?" she asked wiggling her eyebrows "Shhh" I shushed her.
"Oh, that reminds me." Lynette started "There's an extra room you need to clean today that Luna Mary requested to clean." She said while handing me a piece of paper. I took it and looked at it. "Is this right?" I asked, "Yes," Lynette responded. "But this is Shanes' room, he's not here!" I said in almost a shouting tone. I quickly covered my mouth and turned away realizing I just yelled at the kitchen lead, which is technically my boss.
"Yes, he will be back tomorrow. So his room needs to be cleaned."
Everything flooded back as I remembered all the torture I endured from him. I could feel panic wash over me.
