the guards kidn*pped the two girls as was required by their king and the king sold them to the white masters as they are often called. the slaves were chained with a very heavy iron that they can barely raise their hands and anyone who tries to break free from it is usually tortured and sometimes killed. when they reached to were they their ship is , they began to mark their slaves with knives using different kinds of carvings on their body, then their ship sail off, the slaves were still in chains crying, some were already tired from crying now looking forward to what will be their fate in next future, they thought about their families. some ended up going into trauma and died, while some died from malnutrition, diarrhoea and emotional trauma. Nkemdilim and the others were not left out as they lost one of their own Chimbusomma.
The bodies of the slaves were thrown into the sea. most of the slaves who sustained injuries were thrown into the sea as well in order not to spread disease to the other slaves. those who rebelled against their masters were also thrown into the sea to sound as a warning to others who are thinking of doing the same and they continued their journey, the food they were travelling with become less and they throw most of the slaves especially the girls who were already impregnated by their masters were thrown overboard Just to lessen the number of mouth to be fed and also to lighten the shop load. the white Masters were so brutal and ruthless that Nkemdilim began to wonder if they are actually created by Chukwu Okike.
when they finally arrived, the slaves were given an English name Nkemdilim was called Abigail and so were others. they waited there till the dead of the night because slave trading has become a very big crime in the world as in the early 80s. Mr. Warren and other Master's waitee till the coast was clear, they brought out all their slaves covered their eyes with a piece of cloth still in chains they inspected for signs of sickness and injury. then they were examined and evaluated for their physical strength, skills and was later sold off the highest bidder. most of slaves were lucky to sold to a place they are not wiped everyday or forced to eat soured food but they were usually over laboured. Nkemdilim was so unlucky, she was bought by a British man called Mr. Bailey a gold Smith who has a very large hectares of land where he cultivates crops, especially some illicit ones. the first day Nkemdilim arrived in Mr. Bailey's house she was shocked to find other slaves just like her there, they were so lean and hungry but yet they never stopped working and any form of discussion between them or complain will attract a wipe. the night Nkemdilim and others arrived. they were taken to the farm immediately in the. old weather although they were privileged to sleep for a while but were woken the next with a wipe, and most of them started murmuring which attracted another punishment. they poured a very hot charcoal on the ground and asked the slaves to walk on it, they refused but were forced to do so, the slaves walked on the hot coal which made them to start limping and they were sent to the farm . one of the slaves refused and was shot dead by one of the guards.
Nkemdilim endured all the sufferings for three months till she couldn't bear it again and decided to run away before getting hit down by Mr. Robin car
