He couldn't believe it.
It was Dexcorp. He was imprisoned in a facility hidden within his work place. He had to get to the bottom of it:
"Jack before you do anything , put a C4 in these rooms: David's office, your office, the lab then leave. When you get out of the building activate them. Don't question the purpose of it."
"Okay. I just have one question did you know about this?"
"Yes"
"And were you planning on telling me?"
"Yes"
"Okay.... What now?"
"Like I told you. Plant those bombs and leave. Every revolution starts somewhere"
"Just let me do something first."
Still armed with his gun, he makes his way to his office, undetected. He shut the door behind him, and took out his gun and pills. He sat at his desk, thinking if he was about to do the right thing. He reached inside his drawers, took out a silencer and attached it to his gun.
"Jack before you do anything we need to link us to your server. We will try to steal as much informations as we can. Just connect yourself to the mainframe and we'll do the rest."
"Just let me get some friends out. There are good people here."
He leaves his office and bypasses every security, scientist until he reached IT room :
"Zack? You here?"
"Jack??!!"
He rushed into the room, holding a teaser. He stopped in his place as he felt a gun pointed to his head:
"Don't. Give me the taser,and I need your help."
After a five minutes talk, he explains to him what he was about to do and the truth of Dexcorp:
"Wow! I can't believe what you're saying. What do you want from me?"
" I need access to the system's mainframe. Could you give me access to it?
" Sure man anything you want"
"Thanks. You're a good man Zack. You should probably leave this building when you hear the alarm"
"what is he planning on doing?"
Jack then makes his way to David's office, to "Question him".
When he entered the office, he waited for him, in his chair.
Finally the wait is over. He could hear David's footsteps:
"You should not be here. Want a drink?"
"No thanks. I just have a few questions"
He turned to face him:
"I had to capture you. You betrayed us..."
"Us?? Who is us?"
"It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our..."
Without thinking twice, he shoots him in the head. David fell behind the desk:
"Jack?? Why did you kill him?"
"He deserves it. Imprisoned me, tortured me. Experimented on innocent people. He had it coming...."
He got up and walked to the desk. The lifeless body was staring at him. Then the unexpected happened.
His body, right infront of his eyes, vanished. There was no sign of blood whatsoever:
"Jhon you're seeing this?"
" Yeah... What happened?"
" I don't understand how he disappeared..."
"Jack we're picking up strong energy signal in the room. Looks like the room itself is like a power source."
Everything inside the room vanished as well. Desk,chair, everything was gone. Only the telephone remained in the empty room:
"Zack did you get out of the building?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Something is not right, I have to...."
The phone rang. He picked it up:
" Did you really think I would be in the office knowing you escaped the facility? You think you can stop us?"
He hangs up the phone. Suddenly an explosion happens outside of the building. He looks outside the window and sees a familiar face. David, smiling at him drives away in his car.
He hears a ticking sound in the room, coming from the phone:
" s**t! "
He throws it away from him, just in time before it explodes. The roof collapses on Jack knocking him down. Fire was spreading everywhere. He couldn't move his arms, legs, anything.
"No! Not this again. Where are the pills??"
He remembers what he did in his office.
"f**k!!!"
He couldn't breath anymore, he was about to pass out. Just as he was blacking out, he heard a scream, a familiar voice:
"Jack!! It's okay buddy we got you"
It was Zack and Alex!!
They held him and jumped out of the window into the river. And everything went black.
"Jack? See what they did to us? They won. LOOK!!"
He looked across the bay and there it was, the city, his city destroyed, in ruins.
"The nukes. Destroy the nukes Jack."
"No i promised to protect you..."
Suddenly, the sky cracked open. He heard Alex's voice:
"Jack wake up. WAKE UP!!"
Then he woke up. He was laying on a bed. Everyone was sitting around him:
"You're okay. We are safe, for now"
"What happened? My head hurts"
"Dr. Garry please explain what happened to him..."
"Basically Jack you were dying. When they brought you back they implanted in your brain a kill switch and activated it when you betrayed them.
It destroyed both your lungs and part of your brain. Luckily Alex found you..."
"Jack, they were slowly killing you. If it wasn't for those pills you'd be dead. When we got you, you were minutes away from dying, again, so we did a procedure on you.
" For how long? "
" Two days"
He turned to Dr. Garry and Dr. Palmer:
"Thank you. But how did you find me?" he asked as he turned to Alex:
"Hey if it wasn't for Zack, we wouldn't even know your location . Luckily he saw you getting in the elevator."
"And what did I kill In the office? That was not David he vanished infront of my...."
"It was an AI. Some sort of 3D hologram."
"Oh. This explains a few things."
"Two more things. First of all, we stole all the data from the server, which is good. We got every piece of information they have. And the building is completely destroyed....
Umm, Alex ,care to tell him the second thing?"
Alex walks closer. He looked at the ground:
"We were ambushed. Some escaped, others sacrificed themselves. I'm sorry i couldn't save him."
He didn't notice at first:
"Viktor?? Where is he? Don't tell me they did it....THEY KILLED VIKTOR??!!!!"
"I'm sorry Jack he was a good man."
"NO!!! THEY WILL PAY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE! THEY WILL BURN FOR TAKING HIS LIFE. He had a family John.... A wife and a kid. They were waiting for his return..."
"Jack I promise we will avenge him. Here, look at this....."
