Chapter Two: Interview Day

What? Where did that jackass head off to?Seeing his reaction, she smiles reassuringly. “Don’t be afraid. Those who applied for this role have been merged with those who are applying for other official positions in the departments.” “Which office will my interview be held in?” Orion asked. Considering his plans had changed, and he wouldn’t get to see the CEO, he might as well get into a good department and make a name for himself. “The main interviews of the day are being held on the 30th and 35th floors. You are going to the 35th floor. Here is your key card; it will serve as your pass through the gate and the elevator. Please use the central elevator.” Orion nods and accepts the card while listening to her. He flips the card and looks over the design and details. The company name is at the front of the card with a tiny silver chip at the left end. A signature is stamped at the other end of the card, and he flipped it back, tracing his thumb over the words written: N Corporation in logo design. “That is all, good luck.” Orion smiles at her. “Thank you,” he said, tossing the card up and catching it. He walked to the small electric gates that led to the elevators, the main part of the office, and touched his card to the gate sensor. It beeps, swinging the little door open. He walks to the central elevator and presses the floor button. The elevator arrives promptly, and he enters, pressing the 35th floor and swiping his card. The door closed. Checking his watch; it read 7:45. He is early, he notes to himself. The elevator doors opened, revealing a larger area of workspace that is different from the ground floor. Orion looks around; the office section, workspaces, and private offices were divided by halls and corridors. Flowerpots decorated the corridors of the office, and waiting chairs are placed at the side of the open hallway. Few workers moved about; everyone is busy. A sign is placed in the waiting section, directing interviewees to sit. Orion walked to the section, taking note of the people occupying the seats. They are eight people in total, Orion included. He sat the furthest from them, observing each one. There are three women; the rest are men. As he observes, he notices one of the applicants drawing everyone’s attention. The male applicant is impeccably dressed in designer wear, his black hair swept back in a parted style. “He's handsome. I’ll give him that,” Orion thought, noting the man outshining the blonde lady sitting beside him. His phone vibrates in his pants, drawing his eyes away from the duo. It is definitely the family group chat. He ignores it, sinking deeper into his thoughts. He’d barely had friends during his childhood, considering the number of times he moved in a year. The only person that stuck, or rather, the only one he desperately wanted to be with, is Nicolas. Nicolas is the only calm in his somewhat stormy life of crazy siblings, who were far more numerous and older than one would expect. They took care of him since their father brought him home as a baby, raising him and teaching him all they could. He loved them all, even though there were like sixty-nine of them. Yes, he is the seventieth kid. It’s f*****g crazy, but it happened, he reflected. And no, they didn’t have just one mother—well, technically they do. It’s just very complicated to explain. The whole godhood is another universe of explanations and one Orion hated getting into. The door to the interview room opens, and from inside, a man steps out. The aura emanating from him as he appears is domineering, swallowing, and choking the room. The man is wearing a dark, custom-branded suit, a silk black shirt. His neatly styled hair highlights his cold, dark eyes. His gaze swept over them, and the room instantly went chilly.
