Chapter One: Interview Day
Orion stands in front of N Corps and exhales, running a hand down the front of his suit. He smoothens the lapels and adjusts his shoulders, staring up at the tall buildings.
Today is a big day. Successfully landing an interview with one of the biggest companies in the advancing financial world meant he had essentially secured the moneybag of a lifetime.
N Corps has been dominating the business, health, and tech sectors for the last four years. Their annual earnings are in the net worth of billions—a success achieved by their CEO, who is barely twenty-two.
This rapid success had shocked the world. N Corps is richly diversified into three corporate companies that operate independently but report back to the head.
Three skyscraper buildings have been designed with a specific vision: the towers rose thirty, forty, and thirty floors, housing N-Tech, N-Corps, and N-Health in that order.
The buildings were architecturally constructed to form the large letter 'N.' The design is both amazing and creative, as the structures stood independently, yet their top floors curved to form the striking letter 'N' that is clearly visible from an aerial view.
After swallowing his nervousness, Orion cheers himself mentally, “Well, here goes nothing,” and walked in. Blending naturally with the flow of people, Orion enters the corporation. Taking in the large, well-designed interior, he is filled with increased nervousness.
Office workers moved about briskly with files and briefcases, swiping their keycards at the gate to head to the elevators for their respective floors.
Looking around the large ground-floor area, Orion walks toward the reception desk. Rolling his shoulders, he boosted his confidence by recalling the cheers his multiple siblings had given him when he told them about today. Promptly, he greets the women at the desk.
The sitting lady looks older; she is wearing a yellow top and dark pants; her brown hair pulled back in a high ponytail. Her brown eyes assessed him as he placed his hands on the white desk. He gave her a warm smile, and she looks away coldly.
The other, seemingly younger lady, greets him back with a smile that complements her blue eyes. She is wearing a cream full suit and a black top, and she welcomes him.
“Hello, how may I help you this morning?” she politely asks.
“I’m here for an interview,” Orion answers. N Corps is doing a massive recruitment this year; more official positions were open, including a special position.
People had rushed for it like crazy. The incredible salaries and bonuses had caused massive applications from all over the world.
N Corps is prepared for this, as their requirements hadn’t even been strict, leading people to believe they could easily obtain these spots.
The heavy recruitment had resulted in a massive cutoff: over a hundred thousand people applied, and only a few hundred were picked. None had yet been chosen for the special position.
The young lady acknowledged him with a nod and opened a large black book on her desk. “What is your name?”
“Orion Axis,” he answers. She nods and types his name into the computer. She bit her lip as she located his name.
“Alright, your name is on the list of applicants for the special advisory role.”
Orion nods. The Special Adviser role is a position second in command to the entire company; the holder could make decisions on behalf of the CEO, take on massive projects, have special privilege to advise on issues and meetings, and is entitled to a lifetime net worth of billions.
It’s an important role, it sets a person to live comfortably for life, but it is limited to just one person, and the interview is going to be conducted by the CEO himself. Lucky him, Orion thought.
“Unfortunately, the CEO is not around, and the interview for this position has been cancelled untill further notice.”
