Chapter Four

"I'm not done yet, I still have a lot to sell” “Well, if you continue, I’m sure you’re not going to survive it, you look pale like you’re going to faint any minute” “I can handle myself, I don’t need you or anyone else to look after me” “Of course you do, Elsa would never forgive me if anything happens to her best friend, that I know for sure” he reached for my hand and collected the ticket from me.

“Let’s go” I wanted to resist, to tell him that I could fend for myself but for goodness sake who I’m I deceiving, I feel like my head was going to explode at any minute now and all I wanted was just to lay down and rest. “Are you coming” and when I looked up he was already a few feet away from me.

I guess, I don’t have any more choice “Yeah, sure” I followed along while trying to hold myself upright “You don’t look fine, what’s wrong? Daniel was another person in my life that I would never lie to, he knows every bit of my life and despite being friends with Elsa he still took his time to spend quality time with me as his friend.

“Another fight,” I said keeping my face plain and emotionless “Mhmm” I heard him say but didn’t utter any other word, or did he try to pity me, the walk back to the hotel was quiet and peaceful and I somehow felt safe since he was there by my side.

And when we arrived at the club this time, there was no more silent music, the place was already blasting with loud music and filled with people, we followed through the back door since the front door was already crowded with people ready to party all night. “Look who finally showed up” Elsa was smiling cheerfully with a bottle of alcohol in her hand like I had said nothing that had upset her.

I watched both of them as they kissed for a brief second, then yelled loudly in each other ears to be able to hear each due to the noise, I have to look away from the two lovers to stare into the crowd of people dancing in the background, some were already drunk while some were still ready to rock the party till daybreak.

“Come, Elmer, I need you to help me out with something” I heard Elsa yell into my ear and when I turned, the two lovers were done talking, I stare at Daniel for confirmation, he always spend time with Elsa throughout the night, serving drinks to the customer while having fun.

And when he nodded to me that it was okay only then did I follow Elsa through the worker's door, I didn’t want to end up stealing his night away from him and also I know that she would still be angry about what I had said to her…I still need to apologize to her since I can’t bear to stare her in the eye after what I had said.

“What I’m I helping you with? I finally asked as I followed her to the girl’s dressing room, there were a lot of dresses thrown to the floor, and some were hanging lazily on the chair and the table…was stuck with different types of makeup, face powder, foundation, eyeliner…different types of lipstick and some that I can’t even place its name.

Elsa waited for the girl standing over the mirror to leave for some reason before turning to me “I want to ask for a favor” I stare speechlessly at her, she never asked for a favor and all she have to do was to ask me and I’ll get that thing done, she knows that.

“You never asked for a favor? I asked then the door slung open and another petite female walked in I can tell that she was half drunk just by watching her steps, we both waited for her to leave while Elsa roam in the closet behind her for a dress probably “I thought this was meant for workers only” I finally asked when the lady finally staggered her way out.

“You know better than to ask me, Elmer, this place has to rule even if you place a big billboard here to announce workers only…people would still trespass and by the way the rule is no more followed anymore it's just that this place provides a little bit of privacy” I nodded making my way to the seat in front of the mirror, I didn’t even bother taking the whole cloths off, there were parts of the chair now.

“About the favor? I asked watching her hold the dress in front of me “I want you to assist me in working tonight at the VIP” “What! She never asked me to help, she always take care of this by herself, and the VIP was only meant for the official members of the club, the richest and most important person in the state, it was where some of their private meetings were held.

And anyways no ordinary workers are meant to work, serve, or even entered there, it was strictly guarded and it was built above the noisy club which was meant for ordinary people like me and it was also where Elsa meets most of the men she dates because she was one of the workers there.

“I need you to assist me, Elmer, there will be a big pay afterward, I know you are feeling fine but please…I need your help” “How can that be possible, no ordinary workers are allowed in there” “I have been granted permission by the manager to take in someone that would assist me tonight, Linda couldn’t make it to work because she called in sick few hours ago so…I have to get someone to assist me urgently and you’re my only friend”

“I’m not even a real worker here, Elsa…” “Can you hear me, Elmer…he said I should call him…anyone that would be able to assist me, the one thing Mr. Sherlock wouldn’t want in his life was for any member of this prestigious customer to complain or not being attended to, he’ll do anytime to see that nothing of such happens and if you did not help me…Elmer,r he might sack me from this job.
