She stood up from her large queen-sized bed and stalked towards her vanity table. The room was spacious and fully furnished. Bianca her mom, as stylish as she was, wouldn't let her only daughter's room to be scantily furnished. Christy jostled out of her thoughts and into the bathroom to freshen up since it was her first day at work.
Her twin younger brothers burst into her room when she was done dressing and was trying to tie the wig she had on her head into a ponytail.
"Chris, you'll spoil that wig that way" Valentine pointed out. He was the youngest of the two.
"Mom will get upset and you know what that means" Valentino, the elder chipped in.
"I don't know what else to do. I can't appear on my first day at work looking totally....what do you call it?" Christy asked with her large, dark eyes roving on her brothers' faces.
"Un-corporate" Valentine answered with a grin. ""By the way, we came to call you for breakfast" And with that the trio filed out of the room.
"How was your night, dearies?" Bianca, their mum asked.
They were already sitted at the dining. Bianca was clearly in her best mood today. Valentine got his boisterous nature from her. Valentino is more reserved like their father, Mr. George Valerian.
"Are you done with your packing, Val?" Bianca asked.
Christy had totally forgotten that her siblings would be going back to their boarding school, Mavens' college in Victoria Island. Christy dreaded this day because once the twins had gone back to school, Bianca in a bid to keep Christy from being lonely, would whisk her off to shopping sprees and every public function Bianca attends.
"Yes Mom" The twins answered
"I really want to get this over with" Valentine began '' Thank God we have less than six months to write our final exams and flee from that school"
"I'll miss you guys" Christy said with her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"Hey Sis, don't even think of crying unless you don't want us to be able to leave later" Valentine said. He is way too emotional though on the surface he acts tough and wild.
"Enough of the talking. The food might go the wrong way" Bianca chided "Anybody that will speak next will have themselves to be blamed
"That reminds me..." Valentine stopped abruptly and glanced at his Mom with pleading eyes
"Val, so you can't keep quiet for some time" Bianca asked
Valentine was called "Val" for short while Valentino was called "Tino" for short.
"No" Valentine shook his head, smiling mischievously. " Have you spoken with Dad today?" He asked, turning to Christy.
"Not yet" Christy muffled. She had a mouthful of bread and scrambled eggs.
"Do so quickly please. He sounded pretty upset that he hasn't heard from you for almost a week. You know he's fond of you" Valentine said
"Save that it was just a phone call he almost grilled us alive yesterday" Valentino added, chuckling.
Christy noted that her brothers' voices had this deep baritone similar to their Dad's.
"Thanks be to God. Thanks for the meal, Mom" Christy and her siblings greeted in their usual tradition as they got up from the dining.
"Alright, take care of yourselves. Musa, the driver will take you twins to school then Ahmed, the second driver will take Christy to work" Bianca said, placing kisses on their foreheads.
"No, Mum. Please no! She's coming with us. Musa will drop her first and then proceed to our school" Valentino protested.
"Why?" Christy blurted out
With a wide grin plastered across his face, Valentine explained "We need to know where your workplace is so we can pay you surprise visits whenever we're permitted to leave the school"
Christy smiled and they left. Bianca was left wondering the kind of son she begot. She is an extrovert quite alright but this son of hers was a super extrovert.
In the car, on the way to Christy's workplace, the twins started acting weird and after a little whispering they took out their phones from the back of the driver's seat where where they had originally hidden them.
"What! Are you out of your minds? These phones will be confiscated once you step into the school premises with them" Christy said in alarm.
"Big Sis, Chill" Valentine said.
"Tino, are you a part of this too? Dad will definitely deal with you guys if you get into trouble again"Christy asked, turning to Valentino
"Sis, how can you be acting like this? We only showed you so you can cover up for us if need be"Valentino retorted.
"Joker" Christy smirked.
Whenever the twins got into trouble, she had always been the one to placate their Dad on their behalf. Though, their mom is as adventurous as they are, she doesn't side with them and even fuels their Dad's anger.
"Chris..." Valentine said solemnly, looking directly into her eyes. They knew that was her weakness. "You know...I...We..."
Christy sighed "Val, just let me be. If you get yourselves in trouble then that's your own cup of tea".
The twins smiled inwardly knowing she has consented.
"Free moder. You'd better go and buy data" Valentino taunted his twin.
"See who's talking. Weren't you the person that played online games with my phone last night and used up my data" Valentine retorted and they both laughed boisterously.
The rest of the journey was done in silence till the car screeched to a halt in front of Christy's workplace, Martins' Manufacturing Company.
