1. Marry Me
Bang! A bedroom door in the Johnson family mansion was kicked in from the outside. A middle-aged man, followed by several members of the Johnson family, rushed in with a variety of expressions. They hurried in only to find a man and woman lying half-naked on the bed. "Iris, what are you doing?!" the middle-aged man, Christopher Johnson, shouted angrily. "Dad?!" Iris gasped in surprise. The 25-year-old girl, who had been sleeping comfortably on the bed, blinked in confusion as she saw her father and several family members burst into her room. "What are you guys..." She couldn't continue her question. Her eyes widened when she saw a man lying half-naked next to her. "Archer Brooks?!" Iris couldn't help but scream. She furrowed her brow, trying to remember what had happened, but everything was too blurry. She had been very drunk last night. "How did he get here?" She innocently asked her family. "I should be asking you that, you i***t!" snapped Mr. Johnson. His face was dark red. He was clearly furious to see his daughter cheating. Yes, she was cheating! The Johnson family had long been engaged to Iris and William, the eldest son of the respected Collins family. Everything was going well. They had even held a meeting between the two families the night before to set the date for their wedding. However, who would have thought that in the morning, they would find Iris sleeping with William's new bodyguard? Yes, Archer was William's bodyguard! "Dad, I didn't..." Iris tried to deny it, but the old man immediately glared at her and pointed his trembling index finger. "Cover yourself!" Mr. Johnson yelled. Iris looked down and realized she was only wearing a red bikini. Her face immediately turned red. She quickly pulled the blanket to cover herself. 'What is actually going on?' she wondered silently, then turned to Archer. The man just blinked and stared at the ceiling with a furrowed brow. It seemed like he also didn't understand how they ended up in that room. "Hey, did we do something bad last night?" Iris whispered, leaning toward Archer. He shrugged indifferently. "I don't know," the man replied in a low voice. "Maybe yes, maybe no." "Come on! I couldn't possibly be cheating!" Iris yelled. She immediately stood up, hugging the blanket, and looked at her father seriously. "Dad, do you think I'm crazy? If I really cheated, I would have chosen someone else who was... at least richer than William, right? This doesn't make any sense!" Iris denied, grumbling. "You still dare to deny it? Would a man and a woman who have no relationship sleep in the same room naked?" Mr. Johnson replied coldly. "But I wasn't really naked," Iris replied, looking innocent. "You!" Mr. Johnson became even more furious. "Can you be more serious? This is not a trivial matter, Iris!" "Dad is right. You'd better be honest with us, Iris! You're cheating on William, aren't you?!" accused Lily, Iris's youngest half-sister. She was only 18 years old. Iris looked down and sighed. She blew away a few strands of blonde hair that covered her face. "I really don't know how to explain," she muttered with a frown. Last night, Iris was very drunk and didn't remember how she ended up in the same room with Archer. Unfortunately, she had nothing to prove her innocence. "Honey, maybe we can hide this from the Collins family. They won't cancel the engagement as long as they don't know anything," Mrs. Johnson said softly. As always, she looked elegant and loving. "Then what about that man?!" Mr. Johnson pointed at Archer angrily. "He's William's subordinate!" "Maybe... we can give him hush money?" Iris suggested randomly. Archer smiled mockingly and stared at the girl blankly. "I don't need money." Iris shrugged. The corners of her lips curled up, but she quickly changed her expression to one of despair. "Then what should we do? Dad, I don't want my wedding to be canceled!" Archer, who heard that, furrowed his brow slightly. He stared at Iris with narrowed eyes. Was the girl not going to deny it anymore? "Dad, maybe it was just an accident. Besides, Iris couldn't possibly be cheating on William." Rachel, Iris's older half-sister, finally defended her. Iris immediately nodded in agreement. "You're the one who understands me best!" Rachel smiled and said nothing more. "The evidence is right in front of our eyes. We even saw them sleeping in the same bed ourselves. How could they not be having an affair?!" Lily insisted. "A little girl like you shouldn't meddle!" Iris glared at the girl irritably. Having so many half-siblings was really troublesome. "The match will be canceled!" Mr. Johnson declared. He said it firmly and seriously, his decision undoubtedly final. "Father, don't you trust me at all?" Iris asked. She looked at the man in his sixties without emotion. "You've embarrassed me enough, Iris! Besides being lazy and having fun, what else can you do for the family? Now you're even having an affair with... a mere bodyguard!" Mr. Johnson's emotions exploded. "Before the Collins family or anyone else finds out about your affair, I'd better cancel your engagement!" he continued. The people who heard this were shocked, including Mrs. Johnson. "My husband..." She wanted to intervene, but Mr. Johnson shook his head immediately. "I'm not joking." Christopher looked at his wife seriously. "Don't interfere with my decision." He turned to look at Iris and Archer and snorted coldly. "You'd better leave here immediately and never come back. I don't have a daughter as useless as you!" After saying that, he walked out of the room, leaving the others in shock. They didn't expect Christopher to go so far as to kick Iris out. They were father and daughter, after all. "I'll try to talk to Dad. Maybe he's just angry for the moment," said Rachel, who then ran after their father. Mrs. Johnson looked at Iris with concern. However, she said nothing and simply pulled Lily out of the room. The maids, who had been eavesdropping and peeking from outside, also left. The room fell silent. Iris looked down expressionlessly. Archer, who saw this, sighed. "I don't remember clearly what happened last night, but I never meant to do anything bad to you." Iris didn't answer. A few moments later, she burst out laughing until her face turned red, and when she looked up, tears were streaming down her cheeks. She knew exactly what had really happened. "It's not your fault." Iris looked at Archer with a flat smile. She wiped her tears and then stared coldly at her slightly damp palms. "I know someone deliberately set us up." Archer raised his eyebrows, intrigued by what he heard. "Who could have done it?" he asked. "It could be anyone. Maybe my fiancé, maybe my family, or maybe..." Iris walked closer to Archer, looked up, and whispered, "You." "Me?" Archer held back his laughter. "Isn't your accusation a bit too random, Miss?" "Yeah, it is," Iris replied indifferently. She didn't look panicked, as if she had already seen the truth and was following the flow of someone else's game. Iris was clearly not a stupid person who knew nothing. And that surprised Archer because it turned out that the girl had another side that was even more attractive than her beauty. When she was in front of her family, Iris seemed like a girl with a bad temper. She seemed stupid, immature, and unserious. However, it was different when she was behind everyone's backs. "It seems I misjudged you." Archer tilted his head. The corners of his lips lifted slightly, making his face look even more handsome. "But, Miss Johnson, it wasn't me who did it." Iris believed him from the moment she saw him confusedly waking up in bed. However, she had no clue who the culprit was. "Who could have given you sleeping pills?" she asked Archer. "I deliberately didn't drink much last night. Just toasted with William," Archer replied. "So that was him." Iris smiled cynically. "I drank and toasted with many people last night. Maybe William was working with one of them. How sneaky! What game is he playing?" Archer just stayed quiet and watched her with interest. The Iris he knew was a spoiled, dumb, lazy girl who only knew how to have fun. But the Iris in front of him now was totally different. "We're trapped. After this, people will know us as cheaters," Iris said as she picked up her dress lying on the floor. "I don't believe the Collins family won't find out about it. They'll make a big deal out of it." "Do you want to get back at them?" "Don't you want to?" Iris asked back. "I don't care about my reputation or any of this stuff. Besides, I'm not really at a disadvantage. I'm actually lucky to see your beautiful body," Archer said with a smirk. "Pervert!" Iris glared at him angrily. "Am I?" Archer stood up and walked towards Iris. He was only wearing tight boxer briefs. The bulge in his crotch was clearly visible. It was big and long. Iris immediately turned her back on him. Even though Archer was just a bodyguard, he looked very unusual. He was handsome and charming, with dark blue eyes and a muscular, well-built body. He had a strong charisma that set him apart from other men. Any woman could easily fall for him. "Can you help me?" Iris asked, her back to Archer. She didn't want to see him in such an arousing state. "Help you?" "Yes." Iris looked down. "After all, William has been using you for his own benefit. You shouldn't just stand by and do nothing." Archer smiled casually and said, "He's my boss. It's my job to help him. Why should I help you?" Iris was a little annoyed to hear that. She finally turned around. Archer was standing right behind her. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of his pectoral muscles right in front of her face. She wanted to curse, but realized that Archer was the most suitable candidate to help her. "Fine! What do you want in exchange for helping me?" The corner of the man's lips lifted. "Do you love William?" Iris snorted and rolled her eyes. "Our relationship isn't that special. We're engaged only for business purposes. But I won't allow him to cheat like this. It's not fair to make me take responsibility for something I never did." Archer's smile grew wider. "I'll consider helping you if you're willing to make a deal with me," he said. "A deal?" Archer suddenly leaned in. He brought his lips close to Iris's ear and then whispered, "Marry me."
