Adelaide I ate my plate in silence as Rowan plunged his chopsticks into his container and ate, listening intently to what his interlocutor was saying. He put the container down on the coffee table and looked at it carefully, looking for something, then reached for a piece of paper next to me, so I handed it to him, and he began to write frantically.
