THREE DAYS AGO
“On August 7th last week, a bomb went off in a museum at 3 pm, 10 minutes before an intended police raid. The political candidate, who lost to Gov. Richards Ford, Paul Stone, hinted the police about implicating documents stored in the warehouse beneath the museum. The museum went up in flames killing 74 people including Lucas Reid.” The middle-aged woman in a white strapless gown with bold red lipstick drops her glass of wine on the table. Her presence screams power, not because of the expensive clothes, the fancy way she packed her red hair or the straight face that she always maintained but by the way she carries herself.
At 29, with 2 failed marriages, abusive husbands and being walked upon by people. This woman ensures that no woman or person has to endure all the bullshit, she had endured. Bella, mostly called “Mother” has trained over 20 people and has saved 8 kids from the street; amongst them is Jaime and Lola, for over 24 years.
“W-wait, how did I not know that Lucas Reid is dead?” Lola stands up slamming her hands on the table, ignoring the pain that accompanies it. “He can’t die. I need to carry out my revenge on him.” Lola's hands are shaking in anger, this can’t be happening to her, all her life she has been dreaming about this moment.
Lola has been watching both the father and son for years now, she took a break early this month to focus on the mayor’s mission. Now she regrets it, how can she miss this? She wants to be the one to kill him, in the most painful way ever.
Jaime, who is sitting beside Lola, wants to hold her hands and try to calm her down but he can’t, at least not in front of Mother. They are to be tough, Jaime is but when it comes to Lola, he is as soft as a baby.
And that scares him.
“When you calm down, I will continue.” Mother looks at Lola balled fist, many people have been thrown out her office for less. Everyone knows Lola and Jaime are her favourites, she intends that they take over when she is retired. Lola has gotten away with a lot of things because of this and sometimes Jaime too.
Lola takes a deep breath, trying to calm down but it’s not working. The fact that the son is still alive is not any consolation to her. She plans to make the father watch his son die before he does. Lola sits down, looking at Mother to continue.
“Lucas Reid is not dead and the so-called files, I want to believe is not destroyed.” Bella opens the drawer in her table taking out a file.
“He faked his death to cover Gov. Richards’s deeds along with his.” Lola's heart beating with joy, he is alive.
Bella drops the file on the table, Lola takes it and opens. She sees pictures of Fort and his dad in a park, Lucas wearing a cap, backing his son like they don’t know each other.
Not a very smart meeting place.
“This picture was taken 2 hours after the fire by a trusted source before he finally disappeared. “ Lola passes the picture to Jaime.
“Fort knows where his dad is.” The smile that Lola rarely gives erupts on her face as she feels her day is getting better.
This is what she has been training and waiting for.
“Sick.” Jaime comments, dropping the picture on the table while capturing the smile on Lola’s face.
“This is where your history with Fort comes in play. You can get back into his life easily, just as we talked about.” The two women look at each other, a smirk on their faces, looking like they won a lottery. Jaime looks at the both of them awkwardly, already knowing he isn’t going to like what they are planning.
“What did you guys talk about?” He sits upright, looking at Lola. No one answers him like they have this unspoken means of communication.
It pisses him off.
“I won’t let you down, Mother.” Lola nods. Failure is not in her dictionary, this is for her parents.
“I know.” If there’s anybody she is sure of, it’s Lola. Lola stands up, Jaime follows her lead, they both walked out of her office.
Immediately they got down the hall of Bella’s mansion, Jaime grabs Lola's arm making her face him.
“What the f**k happened here? What did you guys talk about?” The most annoying thing about Jaime’s relationship with Lola is that it’s not a relationship. They have s*x, lots of it and they tell each other everything. Lola knows how he feels about her, he has told her a couple of times but they stick to the best friend title. So at moments like this, he doesn’t feel like he doesn’t have the right to be mad and that makes him madder.
Lola looks down at her arm which is restricted by his hand then back at him, he let’s go immediately.
“I am sorry.” He takes a step back.
“If I play my cards right, I will be living with Fort very soon.” She mutters. Jaime stands there trying to process what she is saying and what he knows.
“Are you crazy?” He yells, “You want to live with an FBI agent, are you forgetting who you are?” His voice booms in the hallway.
“I am a woman who has been r***d, watched her parents die and life taken away from her. I know who the f**k I am.” Her voice matches his.
Jamie takes a step forward, taking her hands into his.
“Not like this, you don’t have to live with the person that denied your parent justice. “ His voice low, “I can help, just say the word. I will put a gun to that that Fort guy’s head and his father will come running from where he is hiding and we kill them both.”
“That I can do myself but it’s too quick. I want them to burn.” She lets go of his hands. “And they are going to.”
Lola stares into nothing as she is slowly realizing that her dad is dead, he left them.
"We called your house but no one is picking." She looks up to see a policeman, already sick of the uniforms. She is sitting in a police station, watching a bunch of killers in uniforms walk around.
"We are going to take a report from you, Is that okay?" She raised my eyebrows at the policeman before me.
"What report do you need to take? That new sheriff killed my dad, he's a murderer." She yells, catching the attention of a few people.
"Your dad was going to bring out a gun." The policeman spoke slowly like she is dumb but she knows what went down.
"My dad didn't even have a gun on him." Diego wore a black polo shirt that barely covered his pocket, if he had a gun in there it would be obvious.
They are lying, Lola knows it.
"A gun was found on him, how do you explain that?"
"Ask the f*****g incompetent Sheriff who killed my dad. He must have kept it there." They are trying to cover this whole thing up.
Typical
"His son who was at the scene confirmed it." Fort? Of course, he is covering for his dad.
"The only thing my dad had on him was a bag of drugs."
"You mean the drugs he stole from the pharmacy, which was reported earlier." It's no use, there’s no convincing them.
They won't believe me anyway.
"I want to go home." She mutters.
"You need..." she cut him off immediately.
"I said I want to f*****g leave," Lola shouts on top of her voice to get her message across, before storming out the stupid police station, ignoring the policeman calls and shadow of Fort calls.
Lola walks down an unknown dark path, trying to get away from Fort. She just kept on walking, soon she hears Fort behind her so she starts running, welcoming the pain. She doesn’t know where she is going to but she just wants to be alone.
She stops as sits down on a pavement, letting the tears flow as images of today flashes through her mind, she buries her hands in her hair as she screams out in frustration.
He's dead, her dad is really dead.
"Lola," She didn't bother looking up. Lola knows who it is and God help her if she doesn’t commit murder.
"Leave." She warns thinking of killing him just as his father did hers.
"I- I'm sorry about..." Lola closed my eyes tight, trying to hold her anger.
"I said leave me alone, Fort." She yells raising her head.
"You heard the lady, leave her alone." Lola turns her heads to where the voices are coming from, soon the blurry figures become clear and she does not like what she is seeing.
These two are the rich white kids from the upper side of town, all Lola knows is that she feels a lot safer with Fort around than being with them.
"No, it is okay, we are just going to leave." Lola stands up from the pavement cleaning her tears, making her attempt to leave.
"Not so fast, hot stuff." One of the guys drags her by her arm. She struggles out of his grasp, her heart beating hard.
"Hey, don't touch her!" Fort yells trying to lung at the guy touching before the other guy drags him away.
"Let me go," Lola shout still struggling out of his grasp, he didn't bulge just kept on staring at her with those devilish eyes and a smirk on his face.
"My dad is the sheriff and he's going…" Fort’s words gain him a punch in his face, he falls on the floor coughing out.
"We just want to have fun with you don't be such a prude." Lola gulps, fear in her eyes as he removes the hair cover my face.
Lola looks at Fort groaning in pain as the other guy held him up, her gaze shifts to the scary guy before her with a grin on his face.
"Let me go." Lola steps on his feet hard with her boots. He yells leaping, letting go off her. Lola attempts to run but he drags her, her back hit a hard wall.
"You shouldn't have done that, b***h!" Lola's breathing becomes rapid as he brings out a gun from his pocket, pointing it at her.
"Now you are going to have it the hard way and your friend here is going to watch. If you try to act smart, I'll kill you and your friend." Lola looks down at Fort who is already being beaten to a bloody pump.
"Please." She whispers as he lets out an evil laugh.
Too terrified to move, Lola just kept on staring at the darkness ahead, she hears him removing his belt as she stands there frozen, her heart racing.
This can't be happening.
"Hey, don't you dare touch her," Fort yells, trying to get the other guy off him but it attempt follow series of punches.
"I'm going to have so much fun with you." Tears dripping from her eyes, falling down her cheeks as he left wet kiss on her neck.
She feels his hands move under her skirt as she closes her eyes in disgust, wanting the whole nightmare to be over.
His hands made contact with her panties. She feels her entire body shaking.
"Please…" she pleas once again.
"Relax you are going to enjoy this." His voice sends fear down her spine. Lola yells as he tears her panties.
"Shut up you little slut." He holds her neck, his cold breath fanning her neck.
"Please stop!" She pleads one last time, as he forcefully spreads her legs apart before slamming into me, her back pressed hard on the wall,
Everything soon become blurry, Lola’s body didn't feel like hers, she wants to crawl out of her body. His moans disgust her, his hands on her felt like fire burning her entire body up.
She feels dirty
Lola's eyes meet with Fort' and remains there, he keeps struggling before the other guy knocks him out. Lola finally looks away as she stares into nothingness as he defiles her.
