Chapter Six
She was caned again on Wednesday evening. This time it really was just stupid. It showed how anything could happen here, at any time, for any or no reason.
Three of the four of them who’d arrived together were involved, Jenny Cal and Alison, and all got the cane. Frankie, whose main fear from the start had been getting the cane, was lucky not to be there, for it happened at the end of Evening Association and she was in a different wing.
Alison, Cal, and a few other girls were larking about. When Jenny joined them Alison was doing imitations of the Governor and various screws. Jenny wasn’t really in the mood, and didn’t even think that Alison’s imitations were funny, but she remained with them. Alison stopped at one point when a screw came near, and the woman probably noticed
