Liyah’s misfortunes

Liyah'S life looked easy to the people outside. With that killer smile, kind words and actions, nobody would ever suspect what the tiny 5’1, short light weight girl goes through at the back of closed doors of her home. Liyah never knew who her father was.She never saw the man who gave her life, not even a peek her entire life. If she ever dared to ask about him, she would be met with the most cruel beating of her life. So to avoid such problems, she kept her thoughts to herself. Besides, it was not just her who remained without a father, her mother was left as a single parent too. So she believed by not asking questions, she was sharing in her mother's pain. Except, she got the worse end of the deal. At a very young age, Liyah knew how it felt to be abandoned and still have a present parent at the same time. Despite not having a busy schedule, she barely got any attention from her mother. And when she managed to salvage even just little bit of it, the consequences were more than she could handle. She often wondered if her mother hated her existence or it was her father’s absence that brought the sever beatings,bad eyes and the intentionally denied attention. They were not rich, but they never lacked or went to bed hungry. So why did her mother hate her this much? But despite all this, her beautiful smile radiated throughout the campus. Her beauty was so radiant even the most nerdy students couldn't escape her charm. She had just finished her first lesson when Her phone rang, the caller ‘her mother’. Immediately her face changed. No more the beautiful smile or charm, but fear and discomfort. They barely spoke or called each other so why was she calling now? Could it be an emergency? But even in doubt, she still went ahead and accepted the call. ‘Hello’ , she spoke in a shaky voice. ‘Get back home quickly,skip the classes’ , and a second later the call was dropped. Without a doubt, even if she wanted to, she couldn’t ignore such a command. Afterall, her education and tuition depended on it. She did not even drop her bag and books back in the dorm, not that she could risk it anyway. Upon reaching her home, she met her mother waiting by the gate. "Hello daughter?” Who👀? She asked. For the little life she had lived, she has never heard or even dreamt of being called ‘daughter’ by her mother. Am I dreaming? Is she ok? She concluded. But it did not en there. ‘Go up to your room and change into something nice and meet me at the dining room. We've got guests’. She said, smiling so wide through my confusion. ‘Ok’. Liyah said with a shaky voice. She immediately had a bad feeling about her mother’s actions. One thing that never failed her, instincts. Using the back door,she went up the stairs quickly but still largely in doubt and highly suspicious of what’s going to happen in the next minutes while she remains under her mother’s roof. Just like she was asked to, Liyah’s went to meet her mother’s guests after changing into something decent. But what she didn’t anticipate was who the so called ‘guest’ was, or were so to say. Her heart dropped right where she stood, tears almost drained away on her cheeks but the consequences of embarrassing her mother came flooding in her mind the moment she faced her mother’s glare.
