Chapter 5: My Catwoman

1114 Words
Mikayla tensed up, getting cautious when the car turned onto a desolate road, before she started seeing a forest-like area. While Mikayla was being cautioned, Mr. Saate was busy along the way to the safe house. She didn’t know or care enough to know about his business, but she had heard him talk in other languages. The car slowly came to a stop in the driveway of a mansion. The house was big enough to be called a mansion. Mr. Saate got out of the car, telling her to also get out of the car. “Am I going to be your servant?” Mikayla asked, looking at the big house in front of her. “Isn’t it your job nature?” He replied. Then, he started to walk to the door to get inside the house. The safe house was one of the properties he owned across the country. As a businessman, properties were something he needed to survive. Mikayla was quiet at his response. She watched him walk into the house, but she stayed at her spot. He hit her at the right spot. She was nothing more than a servant, a woman of service. She heaved out before she followed him into the house. She saw him sitting on the couch in the big living room. The inside felt more like a home than the outside, which looked like an abandoned old building. “Sit down, there’s something you have to sign,” Mr. Saate said, gesturing to the empty space beside his. “What’s there to sign again? Didn’t you have me already?” Mikayla wondered. He took her, so the contract between him and her father should be finished. She was not planning to sign any contract with him. “That’s right. Since you’re mine now, you don’t have room to argue,” he replied and looked at her sternly. “Now, sit and sign,” he repeated. Reluctantly, Mikayla took a seat and grabbed the paper she was supposed to sign. He didn’t stop her when she read the things on it. The first sentence caught her off guard in an instant, but after a long night she had, she didn’t have the energy to glorify her reaction. So instead, she showed no reaction at all. “What if I don’t sign it?” She asked, sighed lightly, and put the paper back on the table. “Curious? Wanna see?” She looked at him, who had a predatory gaze, sharp and focused. “Sure.” He smirked and nodded once. He liked someone who accepted his challenge. Then, he got up and told her to follow him. He walked to the front door, and as he walked, he glanced back to see her quietly follow him. A mysterious smile appeared on his lips after he looked at her. He kept walking until they reached the porch. The sky was dark already, and it was almost midnight. Mr. Saate moved to the side to let her know what was in front of them. A bunch of trees surround the house, and nothing else to see. He turned to her, “Close your eyes.” She was startled when he ordered her to close her eyes. She turned to look at him but didn’t say a word, instead, her eyes were saying it all. She protested, but he didn’t budge. He was firm on his orders. She was in doubt, she didn’t know where he would lead her to. Seeing a jungle in front of her, she was definitely having second thoughts. But she was in this far, and she knew she couldn’t back out. She could hear her heart beating loudly and hard against her chest. He was waiting for her to close her eyes. His gaze didn’t waver. She did, she closed her eyes. And as soon as he saw it, he covered her eyes with his hand. With her height just above his shoulder, it looked like he wrapped his arm around her. They got down the porch, and he walked her towards the forest at the front of the house. It was less dangerous, unlike the back and the sides. He knew how to keep the wild in check, so his properties were all in a safe area. As they started going further in the forest, the ground they walked on made a raffling sound from the dry leaves. She started to take careful steps every time she moved and gulped as she got nervous. Mr. Saate finally stopped walking as he saw how far they were in the forest. They were now at the border between the wild and a safe area, and they were standing in the safe area. Mr. Saate took his hand away from her face and moved two steps backward, leaving her standing alone. Mikayla was still adjusting her sight, and when her face turned to the side, she didn’t see him, and everything was quiet. A shuffling sound was only heard when she moved her feet. “The hell?” She whispered lowly. There were not many light sources where she was standing, and a complete darkness ahead of her. She gulped between nervousness and fear. ‘s**t, did he just leave her all alone here?’ Crack. She got startled and jumped in surprise. Her knees went weak the more she stayed there. Her instinct told her to find a way and get out of the forest. She didn’t care much about the darkness, but she shouldn’t stay in the wild. She moved her legs carefully, and as she retreated, she didn’t see the surrounding branches. The tip of the branch poked her head slowly, and as she kept moving, the branch also moved further on to her scalp. “AAAA….,” she screamed out as she thought it was a snake trying to coil around her head. A shiver ran through her body before she lost consciousness and fell to the ground. “Don’t try to be a catwoman if you are a scaredy-cat.” Mr. Saate, who was watching not far behind, commented after seeing her fall. He clucked his tongue in irritation, but he moved forward to collect her body. He threw her unconscious body onto his shoulder, and then he walked back to the house. He took her to the main bedroom and plopped her down on the bed. He could see her face better now, in the bright light. He got mesmerized by her face. He brought his hand up to her face and pushed the hair off her face. “Catwoman is right,” he said with a smirk on his face.
