Epilogue

Two Months Later Em This can’t be happening. How can I be so stupid? I looked at the test once again hoping I read it wrong, but nope, still positive. “Well?” Lori stood in the bathroom doorway eyeing me. “Still positive, huh?” “Yep. I’m pregnant.” Lori and I have been friends since I started as a killer. Like me, she’s one of the top demanding assassins in the world and, luckily, we aren’t competitive with each other. We actually worked together on some cases. Plus, she works for me. She’s a part of my army. She’s my best friend and one of the four who knows my real name. “Are you going to tell the father?” she asked. Jax. I miss him. I crave for him, but I did the right thing. I kissed him goodbye. “No. He needs to focus on Sara and now that they are getting married…well, I don’t want him to choose.” Jax was marrying Sara. I received their invitation two weeks ago and the ceremony was this weekend. I declined. Sara must be in a rush before she starts to show. “That’s not fair, Em. You can’t sacrifice your own happiness for your sister. You deserve to have someone love you, ever since Javier and Roman…” She trails off about them. I don’t want to remember them. “I’m used to being alone. Sara isn’t. She always had someone with her and I won’t take Jax away. More than likely he’ll choose her. I won’t be a second choice, not again.” No, not again. That’s what Javier did. He chose someone else over me because she had power and that’s what he wanted. Roman was different, but I still got hurt. “You won’t be alone. I’ll be here, and most likely David will too. We’re like the three amigos. We’re going to be here for you and, besides, what do you know about babies?” “Nothing,” I laughed. “Thanks. You and David are the best friends ever.” “I know.” She’s so cocky. Lori and David know that Sara was my sister, and they know about Jax. I feel better knowing that they are here for me. They are the only family I have now, and I know they will watch out for me. “I will tell you one thing though,” she says. “What’s that?” “This baby will be the most protected child in the world. Having an assassin as a mother and other assassins helping to take care of it and if the father finds out, then the hitman turned biker will have the whole club behind him. The kid will be untouchable.” She’s right. No one will lay a hand on my child. If they do, then all hell will break loose. “So, have you picked out names yet?” A big grin crossed my face because I know what names I want. “Yes, I have.”
