“Ma?” Henry said from the front of the room.
Jo stood tall, defending Perry. “We need to listen to him. Please. For your father.”
Of all the things she could have said, asking them to listen for Victor was the last thing Ryan wanted to do. The man made his father insane. He was considered by many people in town to be a liar. They all believed Perry was innocent, but he wasn’t. And of all things, his mom said they needed to listen for his father.
“I know you’re mad,” Jo said. “You have every right to be. But we should listen. We should all listen.”
