72 years ago Tina smiled her way through the rehearsal dinner and kissed Antonio on the cheek when she had to. Her stomach was upset the entire night, so she didn’t eat much. Her mother was beside herself with excitement. Tina couldn’t remember ever seeing her so happy. It made her feel a little guilty, but not guilty enough to change her plans. Her father was welcoming and friendly, acting as though it was his party instead of one for Tina and Antonio. His father hung back and let the party happen. The doors were flung open on the back of the house, letting guests go from outside to inside with ease. The scent of the newly blossoming olive trees filled every inch, making Tina sad.
