Secretary Cheryl Smith

CHAPTER SIX Secretary Cheryl Smith Maud's POV I stared at the man and the lady as they walked out of the room, and then I dragged my legs towards the elevator, the fact that I would continue to live my life as a different person was disheartening and heartbreaking. Although I knew what I signed for when I decided to join the secret agent team, but for some months, I've been hoping to live as the real me. I wanted to live as Maud Brown and not some other person, that was why I was giving it a thought to get a leave, but the new mission I was welcomed with wouldn't let me do that. I just had to complete the mission as fast as I could and get back to the team, I can then take the leave I had always wished for, maybe I would be able to live as the real me by then. I got into the elevator, and while I was waiting to get to the first floor, I began to think about what the CEO could look like, his attitude and appearance, and how I could keep up with him. I knew he was a criminal, there were claims against him, and my main aim of becoming his secretary was to get the evidences we needed against him. The loud sound of the elevator opening alerted me as I stepped out of the elevator, it was still a surprise that the elevator was so different that the one I had been on, they only made a ding song, and this one was a loud and annoying sound. I stepped onto the cold first floor, the warm pale blue color of the walls made me calm, and for some minutes I stopped thinking about what the questions I would be asked might be, and I decided to enjoy the cool atmosphere of the place. There were just two doors on the first floor, I walked to one of the door and peeped it, and it seemed like a conference hall, maybe where the meetings were being done. I walked to the second door, and I didn't have to peep before I could figure out what it was. It was the CEO's office, as right above the door was his name boldly inscribed on it. Aiden Campbell. I wished they could just add the criminal which he was do the front of his name, it would really suit him as a title. I just hoped that I would be able to get the evidences I needed as soon as possible so I can go back to where I belonged. The office was locked, the CEO wasn't on seat yet, to my right was a big and spacious table, it had a chair and the table was filled with files. It seemed like the seat for a secretary, the position I was going to take, but looking at the way the files were set on the table, it seemed like the CEO already had a secretary who was working for him, I walked to the seat and dropped my file on it. Just few minutes after waiting, the loud and annoying sound of the elevator came again and I turned to it, and a man walked in with a lady by his side. I didn't know he was, but he doesn't really seem like the CEO, he doesn't look like the one in the picture I saw. He was no doubt an handsome man, from his Mohican cut and scythe-shaped eyebrows to his Roman nose and his angular cheekbones carved down towards a flinty jaw, everything was so perfect. I had been working as an undercover agent for years, I had worked with several men, but never have I seen a perfect man the man who was walking towards where I was, his head was bent and I guessed that he didn't see me. He had a sea rover blue eyes which were orb round, they shone brightly like sapphires which were dipped inside a pool of milk. He had a titan's shoulder and he moved with a leopard-like grace. He turned to the lady beside him and took his laptop from her, he said something to her which I couldn't really hear, and when he turned towards me, I still couldn't figure out if he was the CEO. I looked around if I could see a picture or anything that could maybe clear my doubt, but there was none. I guessed right by saying the man didn't see me as he walked to the office of the CEO directly, he looked back at the elevator. That looked so suspicious to me, he looked to my side and I quickly hid behind the pillars. What was he trying to do?, he was dressed in a suit but I had seen lots of criminal dressed in them. Was he trying to break into the CEO's office?. He looked around again, and I could see him opening the office, I ran to him and held his hand, and then I twisted it and threw him above my head. He landed right on the floor and held out a loud shout, I also felt it, he was in pain. I released his hand and turned back to him on the floor, he held on to his hand and back as he groaned in pain, "Who the hell are you?," he shouted, "You just destroyed my laptop and you...you broke my hand too," he added, looking at his hand which was dangling, he was right, it hand was broken. I gasped, I didn't mean to hurt him that much, I just wanted to scare him from going into the office which wasn't his, I was only doing my job as the secret agent which I was. He tried his best to stand, and then he began to move closer to me, I stepped back from him, it wasn't because I was scared, but I was just staying at alert, I wouldn't let a mere burglar get the best part of me. "Who the hell are you?," he roared, "How dare you stop me from going into my office," he barked and looked at the floor again, I could see that he was hurt to see his laptop spoilt. "Your...your office?," I asked, "Are..are you the CEO?," I asked as I began to recollect was just happened, I felt like I was too quick with my actions. How could a burglar be with a laptop instead of the usual gun or any other weapon, and he would have been stopped right from the last floor if he was really one. I messed up, I took the CEO for a burglar. What was I supposed to do next?, I had to get the job at all cost. I looked up at him and he was murmuring to himself, he still held on to his broken hand. What should I do?, I wanted to make up for what I did. I quickly ran to him and held on to his hand, he gave me a puzzled look as he couldn't understand what I was trying to do, and that was best, because I knew he wouldn't have allowed me to do it. I twisted back his hand, setting it in the right position and he held out a loud shout again and pushed me away, "Who the hell are you?," he asked for the third time. I felt like that was the right time to finally introduce myself to him, I ran to where my file was and I picked it up, and then I rushed back to him, I stopped right at his front and bent my head, I took that little time to think about what I was going to say to him. I remembered what the man I was told to go meet earlier said, he had told me that the CEO might conduct an interview if he doesn't seem comfortable with me. I knew that I had already messed up and it was obvious that he wouldn't be comfortable to have me as his secretary, but I got an idea, how about I do this?. I looked you at the CEO with a smile, his gaze met mine, he had a horrible look on his face, and his eyebrows were raised, I knew what that meant, and that was because he wanted me to introduce myself. I bent my head again and then I greeted "Good morning sir," I looked up at him, still with a smile which I hoped wasn't obvious that I faked, "My name is Cheryl Smith, and I am your new secretary," I added, and that was the plan. I had planned to introduce myself as his secretary, maybe he wouldn't conduct another interview for me, as I couldn't think about what he could ask during his interview, and I knew he wouldn't even want to make someone so violent like me as his secretary. "My new secretary?," he asked. I found myself staring at him and exploring his whole body, I had never found myself doing that in years. I quickly shook my head to chase away those thoughts, I had to be focused, I shouldn't allow anything to disturb my mission, I had to get it done as soon as possible. And even though the CEO seemed to be my type of man, he was a criminal after all, and I was sure that he would be caught and jailed soon. Looking at him, I wondered how someone who was so complete could be such a hardened criminal. He had everything, the beauty and money, what else could he want from doing that bad business. "You aren't?," his deep voice came at me again. "What?," I asked, as I was so lost in thought, I didn't listen to what he said, and I couldn't tell if he had said something while I was drawn into my thoughts. "You just shook your head," he said, pointing to my head with his stare which had no emotions in them, "That means that you aren't my secretary," he went on, "So who the hell are you?," he shouted. "I am," I replied immediately, "That was just a mistake," I added and gave him the file in my hand, "Here is my file, and this is the appointment letter, I have already been appointed as your personal secretary," I added with the hope that he doesn't get to find out my lie. He stared at the files for minutes, and then he chuckled before looking up at me, "Jason did this right?," he asked with a brow raised, as he twisted his hand. I didn't know what he meant, but I said, "Yes, he directed me to this place," I bent my head. He chuckled again, "And you are going to be my secretary?," he asked pointing to me and looking at me from head to toe, his stare was so horrible that I felt like entering into the ground, but I knew that by the time I finish up with him, he would he the one to enter into the ground whenever he sees me. I looked up at him, looking directly into his eyes, but still, his eyes didn't meet mine, he was still staring at me from head to toe, "Sir?," I called with the hope that he would stop looking at me that way, I could just make him regret doing that, but it wasn't time for that yet. "You couldn't even comprehend a simple question," he stated, "How will someone so dumb as you be my secretary," he added, looking at me with disgust, "And not just dumb, someone who is as violent as you are," he added. And there it was, I knew he would say I was violent, but I only mistook him as someone else. It wasn't really my fault that I got appointed as his secretary, but the way he was gazing at me already planted the seed of hatred in my heart. It would be so tiring to work with him, but I knew how to deal with criminals like him, it wasn't really a big deal. He shook his head and threw the file back to me, and then he dipped his hand into his pocket, "You can't be my secretary," he said and turned to the door, "Just get out of my office," he added. "But I can just make..." "Not a single word from you woman," he cut in, "Just get the hell out of here, how could a woman be so violent," he said with disgust, "You really irritate me," he added and picked up the broken parts of his laptop as he headed towards his office. I knew I already messed up, and I might not get a chance to become his secretary again, the other way to dig out evidence against him would be so hard, but I had no other choice than to do it. I turned to the elevator as I held out a loud sigh, I got to the elevator and clicked on the open button. I was about to go in when I heard him call, "Wait up Cheryl," I turned back to him with the hope that it would be what I was thinking, "You've been appointed," he announced, and there it was, what I wanted.
