Vivienne's POV
Vivienne arrived at the art gallery early, her mind buzzing with the revelations from the previous night. Lucas had shared so much, and while it was overwhelming, she felt more determined than ever to understand her past and their connection. She stepped inside, the familiar scent of paint and canvas greeting her. This gallery had been her sanctuary, but today, an uneasy feeling settled in her stomach.
"Good morning, Vivienne," greeted Claire, her best friend and colleague. Claire's warm smile was a constant source of comfort.
"Morning, Claire. How are things today?" Vivienne asked, setting her bag down.
"Busy as always. Oh, by the way, we have a new staff member starting today. His name is Victor Blackwood. He’s supposed to be really talented," Claire said, a hint of excitement in her voice.
"Victor Blackwood?" Vivienne repeated, the name sending a chill down her spine. She shook off the feeling, attributing it to her overactive imagination. "I look forward to meeting him."
As the morning progressed, Vivienne immersed herself in her work, losing track of time. It wasn't until she heard Claire's voice that she looked up.
"Vivienne, this is Victor. He'll be joining us from today," Claire introduced.
Vivienne turned to see a tall, dark-haired man with piercing blue eyes. He was handsome, almost unnervingly so, and there was something about his presence that made her uneasy.
"Nice to meet you, Vivienne," Victor said, his voice smooth and confident.
"You too, Victor. Welcome to the team," she replied, forcing a smile.
Victor settled in quickly, and Vivienne couldn't help but notice how easily he charmed everyone. Claire was particularly taken with him, and even the usually grumpy Mr. Peterson seemed impressed.
Lucas’s POV
Lucas paced his study, his mind racing with strategies and plans. The Orb of Light had shown Valerius’s movements, and he knew they were running out of time. He needed to keep Vivienne safe, and that meant understanding every aspect of Valerius’s plans.
Ethan Carter, his best friend and business partner, entered the room. "Lucas, any new updates?" he asked.
"Valerius is getting closer. We need to gather our allies and prepare for the worst," Lucas replied, frustration evident in his tone.
"We'll be ready," Ethan assured him. "Have you told Vivienne everything?"
"Not yet. She’s already dealing with so much. I don't want to overwhelm her," Lucas said, rubbing his temples.
Ethan placed a hand on his shoulder. "She’s stronger than you think, Lucas. Trust her."
Lucas nodded, knowing Ethan was right. "I just need to make sure she's safe."
Vivienne's POV
As the day wore on, Vivienne couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Victor was too perfect, too smooth. She found herself watching him, trying to decipher what it was about him that unsettled her.
"Everything okay, Vivienne?" Victor’s voice broke into her thoughts.
"Yes, just a bit tired," she lied, forcing another smile.
"Well, if you need any help, I'm here," he said, his eyes locking onto hers. There was an intensity in his gaze that made her shiver.
"Thank you, Victor. I appreciate it," she replied, turning back to her work.
Later that evening, as the gallery closed, Claire and Vivienne sat down for a cup of coffee. "So, what do you think of Victor?" Claire asked.
"He's... interesting," Vivienne said carefully. "He seems very capable."
"Yeah, he's great, isn't he? It's nice to have someone new around here," Claire said, oblivious to Vivienne's concerns.
"Sure," Vivienne agreed, though she couldn't shake the feeling that Victor was hiding something.
Lucas’s POV
Back at the mansion, Lucas gathered his siblings, Evelyn and James, and Ethan for a meeting. "We need to be prepared for anything," he said, outlining their plan.
Evelyn, ever the skeptic, crossed her arms. "And you trust this Vivienne completely?"
"I do," Lucas replied firmly. "She’s important, not just to me but to all of us."
James, who had been listening quietly, finally spoke up. "If she’s as important as you say, then we need to protect her at all costs."
"We will," Lucas said, determination in his voice. "We’ll face whatever comes together."
Vivienne's POV
The following day, Vivienne found herself working late at the gallery. The building was eerily quiet, and she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. She glanced around, but saw no one.
"Just your imagination," she muttered to herself, trying to focus on her work.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was a message from an unknown number.
"Your destiny is closer than you think."
Vivienne’s heart raced. She looked around the gallery again, but there was no sign of anyone. She quickly gathered her things, deciding it was time to leave.
As she walked to her car, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned, but saw only shadows. Hastening her pace, she reached her car and locked the doors, her hands shaking.
"Get a grip, Vivienne," she told herself, taking deep breaths.
Lucas’s POV
At the same time, Lucas was on high alert. The Orb of Light had shown a disturbance near the gallery. "Ethan, we need to move," he said urgently.
They arrived just as Vivienne was pulling out of the parking lot. Lucas’s heart pounded with fear and relief as he saw her safe.
"Vivienne, are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
"I think so," she replied, her voice trembling. "I just… I felt like I was being watched."
"You're safe now," Lucas assured her. "But we need to be careful. Valerius is closer than we thought"
Vivienne's POV
Back at the mansion, Vivienne sat with Lucas in his study, the warmth of the fire providing some comfort. She recounted the events of the day, her unease growing with each word.
"Lucas, who is Valerius really?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"He’s a dark being, capable of unimaginable cruelty," Lucas replied. "But we will stop him."
Vivienne nodded, feeling a mix of fear and determination. She looked into Lucas’s eyes, finding strength there. "We’ll face whatever comes together," she said, echoing his earlier promise.
Lucas took her hand, his grip firm and reassuring. "Together," he repeated.
As they prepared for the challenges ahead, the bond between them grew stronger. Vivienne knew that with Lucas by her side, she could face anything. But the shadows were closing in, and they had to be ready for whatever Valerius had planned
