Penjani grinned. “Like I said, I’ll have it ready. I might even have time to give the engines an overhaul. Maybe then it’ll have a chance of keeping up with that shuttle of yours!”
“Yeah,” I said, clapping her on the shoulder. “Good luck with that.” I shot her a quick grin to mirror her own before I turned and continued to the Dagger.
But as I walked away, I didn’t feel like grinning.
I hopped in the Dagger and ran some simulations to keep my mind off everything around me, but it didn’t do much to resolve the underlying problem. Even so, the effort helped me to forget for a while.
