1. First look

Adriana

“One whiskey!” a man chortles, grabbing the edge of the bar to steady himself.

I make his drink and place it before him. Before I could release the glass he places his fingers on mine. I snap my head up to look at him and I’m answered with a sloppy grin. Bringing himself closer he murmurs in my ear, “Your place or mine?”

I push him away with my right hand, releasing my left from his grip. He grabs the edge so that he doesn’t fall back. Before he could do anything again, I feel Ted’s hand on my shoulder while he points a finger at the drunk man saying, “Get the f**k out of here before I call the guards.”

Ted is the manager of this club, Sparks. In the past one year our roles changed from good friends to boyfriend-girlfriend. He is average built with sandy blonde hair. His blue eyes are the same as mine but are in the light shade. He is charming, kind and caring. He really is a nice guy and I’m glad we are together.

“Are you alright?”, Ted asked me with concern in his eyes.

“Yeah, It’s alright.”

 I don’t work here. Tonight I’m just filling in for my roommate Claire. She is down with flu so she needed rest. Ted needed every staff member as it is December 23rd and bar is packed with people celebrating, with New Year just around the corner.

And it couldn’t get better than me filling in for Claire as I get to spend time with Ted too.

I even wore my mid-thigh sequin black dress and black pumps. I accentuated my long lashes with mascara, put on my liner and painted my lips maroon red. I kept my long straight brown hair open at back.

I and Ted have been together for six months, and s*x is better with him than was with my college ex. It’s been a month since we spent some time together and I thought tonight might be the night. But all my preparation went in vain. Because Ted has a packed schedule.  

As time passes, we both get busy with work until I’m met with a stranger who is one of the hottest male species I’ve ever laid eyes on.
