2. Flirting with him

1232 Words
Adriana “Single-malt Scotch, neat please,” a man says in a deep husky voice. As I look up, I’m met with the most beautiful hazel eyes I’ve ever seen. As I continue to stare at him I notice his chiseled cheekbones, strong jaw, full lips and the little smirk playing on them. His black hair cut short on sides but longer on top and spiked to perfection. His navy blue suit hugs to him so perfectly that I am sure its custom made, maybe Armani, showing off his broad chest, strong arms and the outlook of his biceps. His presence and built up speaks of wealth and commands attention. He is not steroid bulk build but rightly build with a height of 6’3. He is definitely the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid my eyes on. By the time I am done checking him out, I notice he is looking at me with a smirk playing on his lips. I blushed and placed his glass of scotch in front of him without making any eye contact. Before I could say something, he spoke with a cocky, expectant grin, “I’m Liam Zacharias.” Well isn’t he a bit cocky about himself? Although I’d be a little cocky too if I looked like that. “Nice to meet you, Liam. I’m Adriana Evans.” The expression on his face turned to amused one as if someone cracked a joke here. With that, I started serving the other customers. I noticed Liam sitting at the end of the counter with his gaze fixed on me. His penetrating gaze felt more than the typical stare of a customer. I noticed his scotch was about to end. “Another?” I asked politely without making eye-contact. “No, I’m fine.” “So tell me something about yourself,” he speaks after a beat. “I don’t divulge my personal information to strangers,” I answer politely, not to hurt his feelings. He laughs and then says, “Then let’s go out for dinner and get to know each other better,” which surprises the f**k out of me. “I’m already in a committed relationship.” His smile falls a bit and I feel bad. Why? “Then let’s sit here and chat. At least we can be friends,” why is he so persistent. I’m sure he flirts like this with every woman he comes across. But it’s harmless. “I’m not willing to cross any line, even if it’s innocent.” “So you are beautiful and loyal. Your boyfriend is a lucky man.” “Thanks.” It takes me two minutes to notice he complimented me. He finds me beautiful. It’s not that I doubt myself but the kind of man he seems to be, he has seen much prettier and better girls than me. I knew he was flirting but my heart pounds so loudly that it might explode from my chest with excitement. All of a sudden his face hardens, devoid of any emotion. Not even his signature smirk is present. “Keep the change,” he says while handing me a hundred and left. Well, that felt a little strange. I mean one minute he was talking to me and another he lefts abruptly. Then I notice Ted behind me, his one arm around my waist. He must have noticed that’s why his expression changed. I shake my head out of his thoughts and keep the money in the jar. I was happy that at least he had the decency of tipping generously. As the night passed I got busy and even dealt with some of the assholes who were too drunk to hold back. My shift was over and I wrapped up everything. “I’m leaving; I’m done for today. Anything else you need my help in?” I asked Ted. “Nope. Thanks for saving my ass tonight.” “Don’t say thanks, next time you are paying for my drinks!” I winked. “Sure baby.” We started walking together hand in hand towards the back door. I had already booked my cab and it was about to reach here in five minutes. “Is it really important for you to stay here. Can’t you leave with me?” I asked him hopefully. “Sorry babe but you know I recently got promoted to this manager post. I don’t want to screw it up. And with Christmas and New Year coming it gets crowded so I’m required,” he said apologetically. Ted was the head of the team and just one month ago he got promoted to the manager post. He is serious and very dedicated to his job. “Your ride is here.”, before leaving my hand, he pulled me close and kissed me thoroughly. “Goodnight baby,” and I left. “I was waiting for you to be back!” Claire shouts in excitement, as I enter our apartment. She is blonde with a small curvy body that is worth looking for. She has brown eyes with a dimple on her right cheek. And above all, she is my best friend and one of the two people I’m close to. The other person I’m close to is my mom. She lives with us and works as an agent in the marketing department of a small company. “Hey, how have you been?” “Not good. But better than before. Your mom really cooks the best chicken soup in New York.” Claire is not just my best friend but a second daughter to mom. She regards mom as her own mother. We both were 16 when her parents died in a car accident. She is the only child and had no one except us so mom took her in. Since then we three were inseparable. She is 5’4” with shoulder length hair having light color highlights in between. Her skin tone is just like mine fair and has brown eyes. Her body is a perfect small curvy one. “I know. Is some left for me?” Although knowing Claire, she probably would have wiped off even the last drop from the bowl. “Yes, I kept some for you. It is in thermos. You change and I bring it to you,” mom says while going towards the kitchen. We live in our apartment. It is a three-bedroom house with a small garden in front. It belongs to my grandparents and after the murder of my father, they took her and me in. “I was not expecting you both to be awake.” “You know, I’m habitual to my routine so couldn’t sleep,” Claire sighs giving me look of boredom. We three sit and chat with me having my soup. Then we are off to sleep in our respective rooms. “Goodnight”, and with that I’m off to sleep, dreaming about that sexy man somehow seeming too familiar.
