A Mistake

CLAIRE'S POV: I roamed the pack grounds. The sun still hasn't come up yet. I woke up early to cook for Alpha Jason and ended up with a lot of spare time left. I walked until I came into a stream. It had a stepping stone, that makes me want to cross it. It is still within the pack's borders, but I am supposedly forbidden to roam the grounds other than the packhouse. I inhaled the fresh breeze. It's kinda freezing in here, it made me shudder. When will I be able to taste my freedom? Probably never... After a while, I decided to go back to the packhouse. "Where the f**k have you been?" I was greeted by a loud voice. It made me bow almost instantly, "I went for a walk, a-alpha." I was waiting for his rough hand to meet my cheeks for answering him, but instead, I got nothing. "Make sure you'll look presentable, b***h. Other Alphas are coming over later at night. I don't want them to look low on me for having such an ugly servant." I looked up at him, "All of the Alphas?" He nodded at my question. "Yes, there is gonna be a gathering in search of their mate." "B-but, I don't think-.." he cut me off as he grabbed my collar. "All female wolves are needed, so you have to dress nicely. The Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack is coming, so I need an impression. The nicer you'll look later, the less beating you get." With every word, it struck me like a needle. "...Understood?" I nodded, "Y-yes Alpha." I should be thankful enough for having no beatings from roaming the grounds. The Blood Moon Pack. The most feared and respected pack because of the power they hold to have an alpha with black fur. As I went through the kitchen, the cookers were busy preparing food. While I did so little because they don't trust me in such things. Will I be able to find my mate? I'll probably be rejected. No one would want me as a mate. More men... The thought made me weak. More beatings... ~ After the work they gave me, I went back to my room. Trying to find the fanciest clothes I can find. Grabbing my ripped jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, I put it on. Those are the only ones I have that looked clean, and they helped to cover up the bruises visible on my body. I went to look at myself in the mirror. The bruises were still visible on my face and neck. How would I be able to cover it up? I don't even have any powders or foundation. I sighed... There was a sudden knock on the door and soon it opened to reveal Lexie, also a pack omega. "T-the alpha wanted me to give you this. It's m-make up, try covering your bruises with these." She said, extending her arms with a small bag in her hands. I went to get it, "T-thank you, Lexie." She didn't answer, she just looked down and closed the door. Looking at the only small window -I can barely fit-, it's already sun down, and the gathering should be there in a few minutes. Quickly put on some foundation and make sure the bruises from my face to the neck are covered. I went outside. The whole living room was covered with mostly unfamiliar faces. And I can see other Alpha's on the seats Alpha Jason prepared. "Go mingle bitch." The voice from behind me was very low and I knew it was the Alpha. I guess I did well at dressing up, he didn't scold me for that. He went past me but soon stopped again, "Go get me and the Alphas some drink." I did as he asked, pouring the wine glass with some scotch. I went to their table and overheard their conversation. "...Alpha Blake of Blood Moon Pack will not be coming. Something important arrived that he had to decline the invitation." An alpha said. Slowly putting the glasses one by one, I went to get more for the remaining. I can see many wolf encounters with their mate and they seem very happy with it. I wonder how it feels. In my deep thoughts, I slipped on someone's foot. I let go of the tray I was holding due to falling and the glasses scattered all over the floor and so did my body came in contact with the floor. The attention was on me. "Look where you're going, mutt." I looked up and saw Stephy, a warrior in our pack. I looked down on my lap, tears forming. The way was cleared for Alpha Jason as he approached me. Grabbing my wrist with a death grip, we went inside his office. "What the f**k were you up to?!" He slammed me on a wall. I cried, "I'm so sorry, Alpha. I-I was—.." he slapped me. "After all I have ever done for you, this is how you will repay me?" I stood up and tried apologizing again. "You fat worthless b***h!" I received another slap in the face that made me fall. "A simple task and you cannot even do it right?!" He kicked me in the gut. I grunted in pain, grabbing my stomach. "I am so sorry, Alpha. I will not-.." He pulled my hair, I closed my eyes tightly as tears continued falling. "Did I tell you to speak?!" He threw me on the wall, picking up a knife from his boots. I cried even more as he walked towards me, grabbing my wrist and gliding the cold metal to my skin. I held out the whimper because I knew it would only anger him. Blood dripped from my hand to the oak floor. On my wrist was inscribed an 'X'. My boring blue eyes looked straight at his red ones. "Never ever speak when you are not told to! Understood?!" I nodded as tears went down more. He slapped me again. "Understood?!" I nodded hastily, "Y-yes." I answered. My voice was croaky, it was almost like a whisper. Alpha Jason went out as I slowly stood up. Stumbling straight to my room, I cried more. Why do I have to be so weak? I can't even defend myself, I can't even speak straight without stuttering. I am so worthless!! I sobbed as I closed the door and went to my bed. Looking at the fresh X- wound I had, I cried harder. The pain was tolerable, but my heart has been shattered many times already. I bit my lip and continued crying.
