Getting Along

~Lizzy's pov~ "So what's with that Sam guy?" Dylan asks while taking a sip of his coffee. "Dude, I don't even know. My mom made me take some brownies over to his house as like a 'welcome to the neighborhood' thing I guess." I say leaning against the island with Dylan leaning against the counter across from me. "So why did he want your name?" Man this guy has a lot of questions. "Beacuse I wouldn't tell him when we met. And then he just decides to go with me to the store, then takes me to some abandoned race track and almost got us arrested." I shake my head at the thought. "Damn, you know I have a feeling that, that guy is bad news." He sighs, taking another sip of his coffee. "Yeah? And why do you have that feeling?" I say setting my cup down on the counter behind me. He sets his mug down as well and walks up to me putting both hands on the counter behind me, trapping me between him and the island. He leans down so his lips are barely brushing against my ear. "Lets just say it's a secret" he pulls back and winks at me. So he wants to play that game? Two can play at this. "Oh yeah? Why don't you tell me this secret of yours." I say, pushing myself off the counter and standing in front of him, running my finger up from his lower stomach to the collar of his black t-shirt. I hook my finger on the inside and pull his face closer to mine, our lips almost touching, almost. "I can't." I see him gulp. Satisfied with his reaction I let him go and push him away laughing to myself. I turn around and grab my coffee cup again and take a sip. "You are such a tease." He says laughing. "You know it." I say winking at him then going to the living room to see what's on tv. "Are you going to just stand in there all day, or are going to come sit down?" I yell through the few walls that separated the living room from the kitchen. "I'm comin, I'm comin" he says as he appears in the large door way that leads to the living room. He stops and leans against it, just staring at me. I really hate it when people stare at me. "Why are you looking at me like that?" I say when I notice a hint of something in his eyes, I just don't know what it is. "I know I just met you, but I think you're really pretty." He says smirking, like he's just accomplished something he's been waiting to do. I hate it when people complement me. This is why I'm a b***h to everyone so they can't do this kind of thing. I just squirm under his gaze and clear my throat. "Thanks, I guess" I mumble. "'You guess'? What kind of answer is that?" He laughs, walking towards the couch that I'm sitting on. "Yes. I guess. Now drop it." I say getting little irritated. "Geez sorry." He mumbles and sits next to me on the couch. I decide to also drop it. "So what do you want to watch?" I say leaning against him. What? Laying on some one is the most comfortable thing ever, and if you say it's not, you and I both know you're lying. "Anything you want." He says wrapping his arm around me. I hope he doesn't take this whole thing the wrong way. Because that would really suck. I mean I just met this guy and so far I think of him as just a friend, but I will admit he's pretty cute. I click on the first thing I see; criminal minds. People back at home called me a slut or a girl player or whatever, but that's only 'cause I don't date anymore. Period. No matter how much I want a boyfriend it doesn't last longer than a week so whatever. "What are you thinking about?" I jump at his voice in my ear. And he starts laughing. "That wasn't funny and nothing." I frown, crossing my arms and moving away from him. "C'mon don't be like that" he says as soon as he sobers up from his laughing fit. Before I had a chance to say anything my mom walks through the door and sees us sitting on the couch. She raises her eyebrows as she walks into the living room and sets down her bag on a love seat. "Lizzy, who's your friend." She says slowly. I don't usually have guys over but when I do their usually in my room and not out in the open so to speak. I take a deep breath, "Mom, this is Dylan, he lives across the street." I say avoiding eye contact with her. "Oh really? Lizzy, can I talk to you for a second?" She says heading into the kitchen. "I'll be right back." I say. "Do you want me to leave?" He asks starting to get up. "Only if you want to, but if you want to stay, you can head up to my room, last door on the left. I'll be just a minute." I say walking away. "Why is there a boy in my house and while you're here alone?" Mom puts her hands on her hips. Usually she wouldn't be able to do that but since her gun isn't in her belt she can. "He just came over 'cause Sam and I were arguing and he wanted to see if everything was okay then I invited him in for a cup of coffee and we started watching tv. That's it." I say crossing my arms. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. "Lizzy, the reason we moved up here is because you were acting up and I know that's not the daughter I raised. Especially when it comes to boys in the house when you're here all alone." She whisper yells at me. "Mom, it's not like I haven't had any guys in the house before. Heaven forbid I have my first maybe friend come over and hang out. So if you want him to leave, to freaking bad. He's staying." I say sternly and turn on my heel, heading up to my room. "Is everything okay?" Dylan says as soon as I walk into my room. "Yeah, just Fiji." I say shaking my head and walking over to my bed to sit down next to him. "Do you want to talk about it?" "Not really. Anyways, um, school starts in a week right?" I say changing the subject, I really don't need to talk about my mom right now. "Yeah, it does, are you excited?" He asks raising his eyebrows. "About being the new kid? Not at all." "Awe c'mon you have me to get you through your first day." He winks. I smile and mumble, "Thanks."
