The overhead lights caught on the ring on his hand as he lifted his beer. Shane and Caleb flanked him on either side, both looking a special kind of smug that came from being proven right about something important. “To Lance,” Shane said as he raised his glance. “For somehow convincing Casey that she can do better but choosing not to,” he winked, and we all laughed.
