CHAPTER 2
~DAISY’S POINT OF VIEW~
—Greece:anthes.
A year Later- 8 Days to Christmas.
My life changed a year ago after I agreed to follow my mate Nicholas Grant, who is now my husband,to Greece to start a new life, far away from the packs in the US. Despite being hesitant at the beginning, I’m glad I took the bold step and left with him. My departure was unique.
I didn’t tell anyone I was leaving, not even my stepmom, she doesn't care. So, I didn’t bother to inform people who didn’t give a damn about me. As for my former workplace? I didn’t write to anyone privately. I picked up my things and moved. The night before we left, I left one resignation note on my desk and blocked every pack area code number and never looked back.
The only person I almost told was Ripper.
Ripper-Preston-Grey.—Alpha De-shawn's brother.
Ripper Preston is also a Gamma warrior I look up to so much since I hope to be one,one day. Not for career sakes but just a hobby I've always had.
I found him in the garage that night, cigarette dangling from his hand, staring down at me like he already knew I was running. That night, he didn’t ask where I was going, he just handed me the spare helmet and drove me home on his Harley before De-shawn’s motorcade turned the corner.
After that, I ditched all my gadgets, so no one from back home would be able to reach out to me. I am not within the packs so mind linking me was useless.
But I did write to my Dad. whom I haven’t seen in the last eight years.
I wrote to my father to tell him I’d be getting married in Greece. I told him I hoped he’d make it to Greece and find his way to the silvercrest pack and walk me down the aisle, but even if he doesn’t, I won't hold a grudge.I hope he’s fine.
Dad never made it to Greece for our wedding.
The aisle was empty where my father was supposed to stand.Though our wedding wasn't big, we had no guests except the human priest and two of Nicholas's friends,Mason and Drew and his only sister kiesha.
He said that’s the only family member he has, and honestly, I don’t judge him.Family can be messed up sometimes, just like mine.
Moving to Greece was the best decision. It’s somewhere away from the eyes of Alpha De-Shawn and his family ….not necessarily his wife, who likes me too much, but his brother,Ripper who’s a biker. I feel a little guilty for never telling Ripper Preston Grey that I was leaving,he was my friend. He’d always been nice to me each time I came by the Alpha's house. I thought of finding him on Inst*gram, but I decided against it.Ripper doesn’t have an Instágram account,he's too occupied being a damn biker to keep up with social media!
“Daisy!” A tiny voice screamed from upstairs snapping me out of my thoughts, and I knew at once that it was Kiesha, my sister-in-law.
She’s not just my sister-in-law,she’s the only friend I’ve got in Greece since I moved here with her brother. Mingling with humans in a new country where there's just a few rogues like ourselves is hard.
She helped me find some jobs that I ended up rejecting. Honestly, those jobs were meager. I can’t. I’ve kept the full size of mom’s estates in the human world hidden from everyone, even Dad, who gave it to me. I told Nicholas it was a small trust that paid the mortgage. The truth is, I could have bought the entire street in cash, but I was being conservative. Dad taught me to be cautious and keep to myself.
That was how I got this house. I remembered that weeks after our marriage, Nicholas was fired from his job and fell into crazy debt after crashing a Ferrari sports car—actually, far from that. He lied. It turns out those late nights weren’t overtime, they were high-stakes poker games in Mykonos and I had to pay 1.4 million euros to clear up the debts.
He's the man of the house, his money is mine, and mine is his as well. That’s what I thought,or perhaps what I hoped marriage would look like until this night.
Kiesha—Nicholas's only sister, had flown in from Manila three days ago with some vague story about needing a break from work and wanting to spend Christmas here with us.
It'll be my first Christmas without any of my family or friends from the pack so I need anyone close possible to stop by.I had also asked Nicholas to call his Rogue friends to come join us for Christmas. It must be hard being Rogue and having no official pack in a human country.
For the few days she's here she has turned my husband to her personal driver for dates with men.Kiesha has no limits, she's dated some of her brother's friends and also some human CEO and Hugh profile men of the country.— so I heard, though I doubt Nicholas would be telling lies.
“Girl, how do I look?” Kiesha walked to my front looking gorgeous with her pretty blonde curls.
“ What do you think?” She twirled around, doing a 360 to show me her full outfit.
“Come on, girl, open up the damn coat and let me make sure you look the part!” I yelled in a girly voice, full of attitude.
Kiesha didn’t hesitate to open her coat and flashed me her full outfit. I squealed.
“Girlllll… you look amazing! Very Christmasy if you ask me.”
“Go out there and kill it!” I added.
Kiesha blushed and covered her outfit back up with her coat.
As she moved to walk out, she paused suddenly. “Go to the hospital, Daisy. Perhaps some preggo tests. I’ve been here for only three days, and the moans are deafening, so who knows…”
I glared at her before she finished her words, and she rushed out through the door immediately.
Once she was gone, I let out a deep sigh of relief. Kiesha wasn’t lying though,I had bought some pregnancy test kits yesterday but hadn’t conducted the tests yet.
Going to the hospital would also be quite stressful for me right now.
I was actually too lazy to do so, though I had been busy making meals for my husband.
After a couple of hours, I made my way upstairs to our room. Our house is a duplex with a couple of rooms that we don’t have enough visitors to fill up.
After I got the pregnancy test kits, I quickly took the tests and waited for the results.
It took a few minutes before it came back,I blinked once, twice, and rubbed the dullness from my eyes.
——Positive.
My stomach folded in joy, and my hands instinctively cradled around it.
For a moment, I just stood there, the tiny test stick trembling between my fingers.
The two pink lines stared back at me,bold and undeniable. Finally, it happened.
I couldn’t help it, a small breathy laugh escaped my chest before I could even stop it.
Suddenly, warmth rushed through me, and I sat down on the edge of the bathtub.
I'm going to be a mother and Nicholas is going to be a father.
And Kiesha, an aunt.
My lips stretched into the kind of smile that hurts because it’s too big,the news is too big to share. Christmas came early, and right now, I can't wait for Nico to come back so I can break the news to him.
‘Baby? Where are you? Are you almost done with work? When are you coming back?’ I asked excitedly through the mindlink.
‘No not yet’ he answered me immediately.’ Is anything the problem babe?.....you sound…’
‘Don't worry. Nothing. Just come back I'm waiting for you ‘
Hours later, I paced around the sitting room downstairs, waiting for Nicholas. It was around the time he usually comes home, so I knew he'd be back any minute now.
My heart was beating too fast, I was too excited to see him. We're about to be parents.
I can't believe it.
‘Lord, Nico is going to lose his damn mind when he hears of this news’ a shaky and excited laugh slipped out as I whispered to myself.
The next moment, I heard the horn from outside,it was his.Nicholas is back.
I hastily placed the test on the table, almost ceremoniously, then sank into the couch and waited for him to come in.
It took a few seconds, and finally, he stepped inside the sitting room. As he walked in, I stood up, the first thing he did was grab me and kiss me.
He spanked my ass. “How was your day? Mine was hectic as hell, baby.” He tossed his suitcase onto the couch and moved to remove his jacket.
I didn’t say a word,he hadn’t seen it yet, so I stayed silent. I didn’t want to spoil the fun.
But Nicholas seemed too tired,he stood up to leave when I stopped him. “Baby, I have something I want you to see.”
He stopped and turned to me. I picked up the test and handed it over to him.
I watched as the smile he had earlier suddenly started to vanish, and his excitement dissipated into thin air.
I swallowed hard, searching his face for a reaction. What’s happening?
For a few seconds, Nicholas didn’t say a word.
Just silence, the exact type that creeps into your bones and makes you anxious while your stomach twists.
He stared down at the test kit in his hands, his brows furrowing tighter with each passing second.
His Adam's apple bobbed, and when Nicholas finally narrowed his gaze toward me, the warmth that was usually there was gone, completely wiped away.
My heart skipped, and my stomach twisted but I held on forcing a smile even though my lips trembled. “T—that’s a test kit, baby,” I said to him, in case he didn’t know what it was.
“You're going to be a father soon,” I added, expecting an excited reaction.
But Nicholas didn’t smile, nor did he blink those full lashes of his.
He went perfectly still. The smile died down so completely it was like someone flipped the switch behind his eyes.
“D-d-daisy, I’m sorry.” He exhaled sharply, running his hand over his face.”We can’t have this right now. Not now, please.”
