Chapter five: I already found her

Richard's eyes narrowed, and he stopped in front of her door. "Well, you should learn to trust me, sister," he said, his voice low and mysterious. "Because I'm the only one who can protect you from Father's wrath." "What do you want, Richard?" Casey asked, taking a step back. "Arrange a meeting between Jesse and me," he replied. "Why would you want to meet Jesse?" Casey asked, her curiosity piqued. "Don't worry, just do as I say," Richard said, his tone firm. "Now, go in before Father comes looking for you." Richard pushed Casey into her room and locked the door behind her. "What do you want, Richard?" Casey asked, taking a step back. "Arrange a meeting between Jesse and me," Richard replied. "Why would you want to meet Jesse?" Casey asked. "Don't worry, just do as I say," Richard said. "Now go in before Father comes looking for you." Richard pushed Casey into her room and locked the door. Casey stumbled backward, catching herself on the bedframe. She heard the lock click into place, and she was plunged into darkness. She stood there, her heart racing, wondering what Richard was up to. Why did he want to meet with Jesse? And what did it have to do with her? Casey's mind whirled with questions as she waited in the darkness, her ears straining to hear any sound from outside her door. Casey sat on her small bed, having become so engrossed in the better life she experienced in Ravens Peak that she had forgotten her normal one. Now, life was back to the way it used to be, just her and her tiny little bed, every time. She let out a deep sigh, feeling the familiar weight of loneliness settle in. Her eyes wandered around the small, sparse room, taking in the bare walls and the single, flickering candle that cast eerie shadows on the floor. Casey's thoughts drifted back to Ravens Peak, to the warmth and laughter she had shared with Jesse. She wondered what he was doing now, if he ever thought of her. A pang of longing shot through her chest, and she quickly pushed the feeling aside. She couldn't afford to get sentimental. Not now, not when she was back in this cold, unforgiving world. ******* Moonshadow pack. Caspian Morgan sat in the living room, going through some documents, but he couldn't focus. He hadn't expected to meet his mate the other day. He was actually at the resort for a business meeting, but that day, he had felt a sudden pull, and his wolf had dragged him to the party hall. It was after he found Casey that he knew what that pull was - the mating bond. "Hey, bro, what are you doing?" His thought was interrupted by his sister, Caspian Emma. "Hi, Emma. Where have you been? I arrived about three hours ago, and I didn't see you around." Everybody knew Morgan and Emma were the only children of the late Alpha Caspian. And they all knew how protective Morgan was of his sister. So therefore nobody cares to trifle with his sister, or else that person is willing to court death. Morgan looked up from the documents, a mixture of distraction and concern etched on his face. "Hey, Em. I was starting to worry. Where have you been?" He set the papers aside, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in his sister's disheveled appearance. Emma flopped down onto the couch beside him, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "I was out with some friends. We went on a hike and lost track of time." She tossed her hair over her shoulder, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Morgan raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. "A hike? In those shoes?" He nodded toward Emma's high-heeled boots, which looked more suited to a night out on the town than a rugged hike. Emma giggled, holding up her hands in mock defense. "Okay, okay. Maybe we didn't exactly go hiking. But I'm safe, and that's all that matters, right?" She batted her eyelashes at her brother, who sighed and shook his head. "Just be more careful next time, okay?" Morgan said, his voice softening. He paused, his thoughts drifting back to the mysterious woman he'd met at the resort. Casey. His mate. He couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to change in ways he couldn't even imagine. "Brother, I want to go on a picnic with a friend. Can I?" Emma asked, putting on a puppy-like look to appear pitiful. Her big brown eyes sparkled with hope, and her lips curved into a charming smile. "No, Emma, no! You're not leaving this house with anybody. When I have time, I'll take you on a picnic myself," Morgan replied, his voice firm but laced with a hint of warmth. He couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt for not being able to spend more time with his sister. "But, brother, we both know you rarely have time. You don't even have time to take care of yourself; you're always busy running the company or pack affairs." Emma's voice was tinged with a hint of frustration and disappointment. Morgan's expression softened, and he felt a surge of love for his sister. "Just stay at home; I'll find time for you, I promise. Just stay at home." "It's so boring at home. Maybe it will be more lively when you find a mate." The word "mate" triggered something in Morgan, and his eyes narrowed slightly. A flicker of irritation danced across his face. "Stop, Emma." His voice was low and even, but a hint of warning lurked beneath the surface. "And then you'll have tiny pups running around the house." Emma's eyes sparkled with mischief, and she couldn't help but tease her brother further. "I said stop." Morgan's jaw clenched, and his eyes flashed with annoyance. "And then..." Emma continued, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Emma, enough!" Morgan's voice thundered through the room, and Emma burst out laughing. She knew she had pushed her brother's buttons, but she also knew he would never hurt her. Everybody was always careful when Morgan was angry, but not Emma. She knew her brother's temper, and she knew he would never harm her. A sly grin spread across her face as she teased him further. "Why do you make it look like I mentioned a taboo, bro? You'll find her sooner or later. Imagine your mate is one of my besties; wow, that would be fantastic." Emma's eyes sparkled with amusement, and she couldn't help but poke fun at her brother's obvious discomfort. "Get that thought out of your head; it's never going to be possible." Morgan's voice was firm, but a hint of embarrassment danced across his face. "Why aren't my friends okay?" Emma asked with a pout, her lower lip jutting out in a sulky expression. "They're immature." Morgan's reply was curt, and he couldn't help but feel a hint of irritation at his sister's persistence. "How I pray the moon goddess could just make one of them your mate." Emma's voice was laced with sarcasm, and she rolled her eyes for emphasis. "I said it's impossible." Morgan's voice was firm, but a hint of frustration seeped through. "Why are you so sure, bro?" Emma's eyes narrowed, and she leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. "Because I already found her." Morgan's expression softened, and a hint of a smile played on his lips. A warm glow spread through his chest as he thought of Casey. "Found her... Oh! You mean your mate? Wow, why don't you bring her home, then?" Emma's eyes widened with excitement, and she bounced up and down in her seat. "I'm not bringing her home." Morgan's reply was firm, but a hint of hesitation danced across his face. "Why aren't you bringing her home? Isn't she beautiful, or is she not as hot as your girlfriends?" Emma's voice was laced with teasing, and she raised an eyebrow, her eyes sparkling with amusement. Morgan could hear his sister's words as he left, a mixture of frustration and affection warring within him. He quickly made an excuse, not ready to face his sister's questioning. As Morgan walked away, Emma's laughter echoed through the hallway, followed by her calling out, "I'm going to find out who she is, bro! Mark my words!" Morgan's expression turned stern, and he shook his head, a mixture of annoyance and frustration etched on his face. He knew Emma was a force to be reckoned with, but she knew nothing about the woman he had rejected. Casey, the weak and fragile human who had somehow managed to capture his attention. But he had made it clear to himself that he wouldn't pursue her. She wasn't strong enough to be his mate, and he wouldn't risk putting his pack in danger. A hint of guilt flickered in his eyes, but he pushed it aside, confident in his decision. He had more pressing matters to attend to, like the meeting with the pack's advisors to discuss the recent threats to their territory. As he made his way to the meeting hall, Morgan's thoughts were focused on the task at hand. He was determined to protect his pack and maintain their power. The memory of Casey was pushed to the back of his mind, a distant and forgotten thought. Little did he know, their paths would cross again, and soon. As soon as Morgan left for his meeting, Emma's mind began to wander. She couldn't shake the feeling that her brother's mate was someone special, someone who would bring joy and strength to their pack. Determined to uncover the identity of Morgan's mysterious mate, Emma decided to take matters into her own hands. She would pressure her brother for information, try to get him to slip up and reveal a hint about his mate's identity. And then, she would take it upon herself to find this woman. Emma was convinced that she could help bring her brother and his mate together, and she was willing to do whatever it took to make that happen. A sly grin spread across Emma's face as she thought about her plan. She would start by casually questioning Morgan, trying to get him to open up about his mate. And then, she would use all of her resources and connections to track down the woman and learn more about her. Emma's eyes sparkled with excitement as she anticipated the challenge ahead. She was ready to play detective and help her brother find happiness with his mate. When Morgan walked back into the house, Emma pounced on him, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "So, bro, how was your meeting?" she asked, trying to sound casual. Morgan raised an eyebrow, sensing that his sister was up to something. "It was fine, Emma. Just the usual pack business." Emma nodded, but her eyes never left her brother's face. She was determined to get him to spill the beans about his mate. "And...?" she prompted, her voice trailing off. Morgan sighed, knowing that his sister wouldn't give up easily. "There's nothing to tell, Emma. Just drop it, okay?" But Emma was not one to give up easily. She continued to press her brother for information, trying to wear him down. Morgan, however, was not budging. He was determined to keep his mate's identity a secret, at least for now. As the standoff between the siblings continued, the tension in the room grew thicker. Emma's eyes flashed with determination, while Morgan's jaw clenched in resolve. It was clear that this was a battle that wouldn't be easily won. “Why don't you wanna say anything about her brother, did you get rejected” “Who would dare to reject an outstanding alpha like me?” “Then what's going on say something” “Nothing is going on Emma, nothing!” Morgan angrily grabbed his key and stormed out of the house.
