The killing fear

Toby winced as he tried to pick a pimple out of his face, “ damn pimples" he mutters to himself. he was already late to a college class but he was taking his time, because a lot of his lecturers have been calling in sick lately and the school has bad management. they said it was just a little flu, nothing to worry about, but almost half of the class was turning in sick and he wasn't about to get himself infected so on some days he decided to stay home, but today he will be going late. he stayed with his uncle who was never home, so he had all the time to himself. when he walked out, he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was not right here in this town, but what does he know. he couldn't meet up with his friend james because he too had been infected by the flu. well... he would have to walk solo to class, or ride rather, he took his old rickety bicycle from their barn and off to school he went. he hadn't gotten far when he noticed a little scene ahead of him, so he slowed down a bit to catch a little gist. it was just two policemen wrestling down a middle aged man who seem very aggressive. one of the policemen had bloodstains on his shirt and hands but it was hard to tell if the bloodstains were his or not just then the handcuffed man turned and Toby could see his face, his face made chills ran down Toby's spine, his eyes were kind of white all through with just a little brown spot in them, and he was baring his teeth like an animal, and he never spoke a word just growling. “ what kind of eyes were those " Toby asked himself as he continued riding to school. something wasn't right to Toby today but he couldn't just place his mind on a particular thing. when he got to his school, he met another scene there, it was just like the first, but here had more cops and he could see that a cop had been injured badly but couldn't tell what injured him. he alighted from his bicycle and approached a guy he had seen before in class. “ hey dude, whats happening" he asked “ I don't know but people just started going crazy taking bites at anybody they see" the guy replied, Toby noticed a little bruise on the guys arm and asked him about it, and he said “ this? well my little sister at home was acting a little strange, she tried to bite me and mistakenly fell off the stairs" “ is she alright?" Toby asked “ funny thing is that even when she fell, she stood up with a bent knee still trying to come at me, we had to have taken to the hospital, but not until she did all this to me" he replied “ men you better go check yourself, your face doesn't look right to me" Toby told him. “ yeah, I don't feel so good either" the guy replied. Toby had to leave him and walked towards the school building. he noticed that the school was more scanty compared to the previous day. “have they all caught the flu?" he asked himself. almost everybody he past had their phones in their hands watching something. when he entered his class he was shocked because there was no lecturer and half a dozen of students, and they too were into two groups watching something on their phones. so he joined in to see what they were watching. Strange, they were watching the news... he brought out his phone and logged into a news site. the first headline he saw shocked him, “ southern and middle Europe in panic as an unknown virus continues to spread;causing men to behave irrationally and giving them a taste for human or animal blood." this must be a joke Today said to himself. “ guys are you seeing this" he asked no one in particular “ yeah, we're all watching it, its crazy right?" Vera a nice girl answered him. “ do such viruses exist? stuffs like this only happens in movies" Toby said. “ well... you better believe this is real bro" a guy named max replied. they were still talking and watching the news when they heard gunshots and lots of shouts coming from the school gate. they all rushed to the window to see what was happening. there was a flood of people running into the school, some tripping and falling on others while some were attacking the policemen, but it was hard to tell what was really happening from their far distance. just as they were trying to comprehend the situation outside, shouts began to arise from different classes inside the school. Instinctively Toby ran to the class door to lock it, what he saw in the opposite class shocked him. a girl was on top another girl, the one on top had her mouth covered in blood, the one under was still and she looked dead, her throat had been torn apart. Toby just stood there frozen, watching when the girl on top turned and looked at him, nothing about her eyes were human at all, then she began to crawl towards him.
