*Haylee’s POV*
He want’s a challenge? I’ll give him one. He thinks he’s the best? Oh, I’ll prove him wrong. That boy better watch out, because there is no way in hell I am letting him win this one. He thinks that he can just get a spot without having to put in any effort. There is no way in hell I will let him get off that easy. After all there is a reason, none of the football players mess with me. They all know I can beat their asses into oblivion, both on and off the field.
I think of nothing but the pleasure winning against Cole will bring me as I change. I quickly adjust my black leggings and sports b*a before striding out of the locker room. I walk on to the field and the rest of the students start whispering. I don’t care, I expected them to. I don’t play football often, but when I do I know for a fact that I am better than all of the football players. So, good in fact that the other players have pleaded with my, so-called, father to let me join the team. He didn’t let me join, but it’s not like I wanted to anyway, so I don’t hold a grudge, for that.
“Finally, some good competition.” Cody, a linebacker calls out to the rest of the team as he gestures to me. They all snap their heads around to face me and murmurs of agreement flood through the rest of the players. Once I make my way on to the field, I say hello to some of the football players. I may be a b***h, but some of them are cool.
“I heard you talking about competition. Who’s joining?” My father’s pet, who’s name I discovered is Zach, calls as he walks up to his new football buddies.
“Haylee’s joining today.” Cody says with a small smile, as he waves a hand in my direction.
Zach who apparently has a death wish turns to me with a smirk played on his lips. He tilts his head as If he’s surveying me. “I didn’t realize you were being sarcastic when you said competition. You have a nice poker face for a joke, Cole.” He turns to Cole and pats him on the back before turning to the rest of the team. Apparently, he expected them to be laughing, so when he was faces with nervous faces all contorted into different degrees of fear, his face dropped. He suddenly looked amused as if he just got to be part of an inside joke. He points to me with an exaggerated wave, “Don’t tell me you guys are scared of her.” He deadpanned. The expressions of his teammates got more worried, but this time the fear was for Zach and not themselves. I smirked back at him which made everyone go from worried to terrified. I took slow deliberate steps toward Zach only to stop two feet in front of him. I looked him straight in the eye and smiled before turning to my left and walking away. I looked over my shoulder and gave him a wink.
“If I’m not competition beating me should be nothing for you.” I turned back to the field and walked to grab a football. Once I could feel the cool touch of the leather on my skin, I turned around completely and walked backwards a ways onto the middle of the field.
“What are you waiting for, Zach, don’t tell me you’re scared, of me.”
