Chapter 1
The chains cut into her light white skin, around her wrists and ankles. There were clearly scarring from the chains that had cut into her skin. She had no idea how long she had had them. They usually had her chained for several days. Today was the longest time since she had gone without food or water. They also just used to let her sit there in her own dirt. The scars on her body did not tell her how long it had been since she had been captured and taken to this camp. Even her memories were like a big black hole in her soul. She didn't remember a time before those shackles, any of the blows, and all of the glances from the men in this godforsaken place. She could never remember what they did to her. There must have been a time before all this. All of this pain and the constant feeling of getting lost in this world. A time when happiness had been the most important part of her life, it had to be. This could not be all she knew, could it? She could not even remember her own name. They simply called her by other names that made her feel less like. But again, that was perhaps what they wanted, destroying her in every possible way that they could.   She tried to move from the wooden pole in the middle of the tent where they always chained her. When she started pulling gently at the chains, she felt them begin to dig deeper into her skin. The pain began to pulse down her arms again.  Her eyes began to water, and the feeling of hopelessness began to grow heavier and heavier with each passing day. So weak is what they called her when she could not do what they wanted her to do, but in the end, it was what she was, weak and useless.  A single tear began to fall down her cheek. So she let her mind start wandering around in the dark tent. She was trying to see something, to feel something other than this terrible pain that filled her body faster and faster with each passing day. She did not know what she was looking for, but only something that could help, something else that would make sense of all this pain, something to save her for a little while, just a little simple moment right here, right now.   After a long time, her eyes fell on the small rift in the tent roof where she could always see a small piece of the beautiful night sky, the stars that she always felt like was trying to comfort her. They flickered so strongly tonight. It was as if they were trying to whisper to her and trying to ask her to hang on for a while longer. That something good came in the end if she could hang on for a little while longer. At least they tried to give her some kind of comfort. Maybe her end would finally come and demand her in the end. Maybe that will be tonight.   There was nothing different this evening than any other evening. She was just trying to fool herself by letting the little hope she had left run wild in her mind. She spent her days confined to the wooden pole in the middle of this awful tent on the cold ground. Sometimes they came in to get her out of the tent. She was lucky if they chose to remove the chains before taking her out to the camp. Otherwise, they pulled her out using her hair, legs or they pulled her out using the chains just for fun. It was just so that the men could see, feel her the way they wanted, beat her until she lost consciousness. Then, they could have fun with her against her own will if they wanted to.  When she usually woke up, she remembered nothing, what they did to her. All she knew was that she could not remember it. Part of her was happy about it, but the other hated her for being so weak. But this night, there was a kind of peace in it, something calm, almost unexpected.  Maybe this was exactly the night she finally wanted, the end. The last peaceful endless sleep she was waiting for that she longed for.   Her mind had run wild for a long time when one of the men came into the tent and started unlocking her chains. He was one of the typical men who went into the tent to fetch her. Then drag her out into the cold night some way. "Move human," he spat the words at her. His dark eyes stuck into her, full of hatred for her.  She tried to get up as fast as she could, but before she could, he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out into the cold. She felt her arm bruise quickly. The cold midnight air hit her quickly too. It almost felt like it would relieve some of the pain that was all over her body. She was ready for whatever this was, no matter what end they had in mind for her life. If it was to beat her, use her for hunting that she knows they had used some of the other humans for, or take her into one of their tents to have what they called fun. But this time, he dragged her to one of the other tents she never used to be in, one of the larger tents that was for the commander of this place. She was almost thrown in and fell face down into the muddy blanket that covered the ground.    "This is the one I told you about, my Lord." The leader's hand grabbed the hair and pulled her head so hard that she felt the scalp loosen from her head to force her to look up at the man standing in front of her. The first thing she noticed was the awful smell of the leader hitting her.  She so wanted to throw up. The youngest of them with blonde hair, light blue eyes just smiled at her as he scanned her body with a look that was filled with a kind of lust or joy. A pain in her head began to pound. And it got worse with each passing moment. It was as if her head was trying and screaming at her from the pain and fear that was beginning to build up.   "this one is so young, almost a little innocent if I did not know better" The man who looked at her was much younger than the commander but seemed to have more authority. He crouched down in front of her. His fingertips followed her cheekbone with a gentle touch. "I want to take this one. She wants to do well in my collection of humans." That smile was a terribly scary smile that formed on his face.     "Good, let's talk about price and payment," The man who had taken her into the tent and someone else started pulling her out of the tent again. She could see the smiles on the two men's faces as she was dragged towards the muddy ground and out into the cold night. The panic began to grow bigger and bigger. Combined with the small scream in her head that began to grow louder and louder, she felt that she was getting more and more gone, that she would start bleeding from her ears. She tried to fight them as hard as she could. But they were so much stronger than her, so they dragged her to the open metal carriage cage. The smell of rust hit her so quickly when they threw her into the open cage with all the force they had.  Her head hit the metal rails so hard that she felt her head open, and the blood began to slide into her dark hair. There was a rush of pain that was about to come over her.   Her vision began to blur. She tried to pull herself up inside the back of the metal carriage, trying to squeeze into the metal rails to disappear, but she failed at it. She shook uncontrollably from the pain and felt that her thoughts began to disappear quickly with her consciousness. The tears began to fall down her cheek because of all the pain in her body, and in her mind, she would beg them to kill her right then and there, but no sound came out, no words, there was no sound left in her. She just wanted all this to end quickly, as she could have the end she wanted before she was taken into a new kind of hell.   "I do not think the lady wants to be in there." One of the soldiers who had thrown her into the cage quickly turned to where his voice came from. A tall, dark figure emerge from the darkness of the trees. He had one hand in the pocket of his pants, while on his other hand, it was as if the shadows gently stroked his hand. Shadow seemed almost like a kind of liquid that was wrapping it around his hands as it belonged there like it was a part of him.   "Who the hell are you?" the soldier drew his sword and pointed it at the man who was now more visible. He was tall, with dark hair; his skin was a kind of golden colour. The way he carried himself. There was something about the clothes he was wearing as well. They were different from what the men from this camp used. There was something like a smile on his face as he walked slowly towards them. Hence, the shock of the soldiers' faces as shadows started to wrap around their throats, starting to choke them. The shadows became denser and denser around them. Suddenly she heard the soldiers gasping for breath. Their swords fell to the ground. It was as if the shadows were starting to drown them.   When the silver dagger went straight through the neck and out on the other side of the first soldier, the man from the shadows did an elegant turn, and the other dragged went over the other soldier's throat. The blood from the soldiers splashed all over her. She wanted to scream so badly; this was way too much for her, but nothing came out, there was nothing there, she was completely empty.   His hazel eyes meet hers for a long second. There was something in them. It was like they were glowing. There was something about him. He pulled the carriage door off the hinges with a single pull. The look that came into his eyes as he looked over her body, taking her in, was nothing of pleasure. She was covered only by a small piece of fabric around her breasts and a small piece that was covered her lower body. She was also covered in faeces and dirt. He tried to grab hold of her legs, but she kicked after him to get him to stop. "I am trying to help you" He looked at her with an expression she could not describe, whether it was some anger or annoyance.  But he tried again, and this time he got hold of one of her legs. He pulled her gently but quickly out of the carriage. She slammed into his body. She tried to get away with kicking and hitting him with the little she had left of strength. "Stop, I am trying to save you. But if you'd rather end up wherever you were going than go," She stopped and just looked into his eyes. He held her close to his body to keep her from falling to the moody ground. But when he tried to walk, she was about to fall. So he grabbed her by her hips so she wouldn't fall. Then with a single swipe, he gently lifted her into his arms.   Then it took over, the pain, the fear, then the darkness swallowed her right before she heard the little whisper in her mind, you are safe.
