Chapter 9 Confusion

2054 Words
Daphne's POV We listen to the door slamming shut behind my husband as he doesn't take advantage of a day with the family once again. I know that the silence and alone time means a lot to him.. but I would like to imagine that me and the kids mean just as much, if not more, to him.. but by this reaction, I can conclude that I'm probably wrong. I never wanted to force anyone to be around me.. that's not right and obviously not what he wants, so it's not what I want. "Are you going to get him to come back and spend some time with all of us?" My daughter asks me as I shake my head. "What's his problem?" My son asks as I just shrug my shoulders, not wanting to think about it.. I think I know the answer. There is a part of me that doesn't want to believe it, but I think his problem is me. I can hear a slap as I glance back to see Marley is the one doing the slapping to Andrew's arm as her eyebrows raise, and she gives him a glare that is telling him to shut up.. I think they know why I'm hurt by my husband's reaction, but they don't want to say outloud as to why.. just like me because once it comes out in the open, I feel that it will be real.. too real for my liking. I plate up their food as I do the same for myself before taking a seat at the table next to them. "Thanks mom you really are the best." Andrew declares as Marley vigorously nods her in agreement with him. I smile at them because I really do want to believe this, but there is a part of me that thinks if I'm so great, then why doesn't my husband want to be around me? My phone rings as I look down to see it's my assistant calling me. "Hey D.. what's going on?" I ask her quickly as she states. "Hey, Daph.. I was wondering if we were needed in the office today.. I'm driving around and running errands, but I figured I would make sure of the plans since you said earlier in the week we might have to get together on the weekend." She explains this as I totally forgot that I told her that. But since I had to pick up the slack at work yesterday for her, I was able to finish everything we needed to. "No need to get together today.. We got everything done that we needed to for the week.. so have a nice day off and I'll do the same with my family." I state to her, sharing a small smile with my kids. "Oh, it's so good to hear all four of you get some time together. I know it doesn't happen often.. that amazing husband of yours is always working way too much." She states as I let out a deep breath. "Well, it's just me and the kids.. my husband has to work some today." I explain to her as she hums then states. "Well, whatever makes him happy.. you have to do what you have to do to get things done properly." "Yeah, well, you have a wonderful day, and I'll see you on monday." I state as she excitedly exclaims, "Oh, I will.. you too." I hang up the call as I fake a forced smile with my kids while we eat the food put out, just making small talk. I get along with my kids so well, and they always make me feel better even with this dark cloud hanging over us. I have a bad feeling about all of this, and I can't seem to shake it.. I don't know why. "I have a ton of cleaning stuff to take care of today.. the kitchen, bathroom, vacuuming, and finishing the laundry.. I would appreciate some help as well." I declare as they both nod. I smile at them as I add. "If we get this all done today, then I think we should just lay around not doing anything tomorrow before you have to go right back to school.. and we can order out.. deal?" they both nod at my offer just as much as I am. So we finished our meals, and once we got done cleaning the dishes, we started getting this cleaning day really started. The music flows through the house along with our swaying productive bodies. We clean for hours, getting stuff done way faster than I ever expected, so I couldn't be more thankful for their help. They give me honest confidence in my life and what I do with it.. If there is anything I know I did right, it was having these kids and raising them right. They are good kids and couldn't be more grateful for them. I get lost in my cleaning trance as I realize that hours have passed with no sign of Daniel. I pull my phone out of my pocket to see if there is an update or notifications from my husband, but there is nothing. So I sent him a text to make sure he is ok.. he does this every weekend, but it doesn't hurt for me to check up just in case. 'Hey.. I hope you're having fun.. we are a cleaning up storm over here, so just in case you need anything and call, I might not hear my phone.. but have fun.' I shove the phone back into my pocket to keep this cleaning session going. Keeping myself distracted is helping at the moment. Daniel's POV Delilah smirks over at me and winking as she states in a sexy tone. "Let's do it.. huh? Whatever you want to do.. I'm game." I'm in shock because when I said 'let's do it', I meant for us to go eat.. I didn't mean it like that, but it looks like she obviously does. "No.. um.. I.. well." I stop in my tracks, not knowing how to respond. So I quickly sit down into her sports car that is unlocked by her. She sits down in the driver's seat as I feel her hand land directly on my leg as we get comfortable in the car. She strokes her hand over my leg, making my heart race at the tantalizing feelings she is causing to run through my body with her gentle touch in that sensitive area. I can tell she is leaning in closer to my ear, letting her breath fan off of my ear as she says. "Whatever you want to do that will make you feel better.. to relieve your stress." I nod nervously, feeling my mouth fill with saliva as if I'm getting ready to drool over her sexiness. The undeniable feelings of attraction that she is giving me are making myself get hard at that interaction but not wanting to feel that way.. we are just going out for food, nothing more.. right? Her hand slightly brushes against my bulge that has emerged as she smirks and bites her lip, but I don't know if that's why. As the engine starts, along with the drive, I can feel her hand slowly moving down further.. closer to my member, making my heart do back flips at that thought and the chilling sensations running through my leg at her touch. I try to calm myself down, but I don't think it's going to work. We get to the restaurant and head in without a second thought because I don't want to put too much thought into this. I don't want to overthink this. I need to calm down and not over do things here. -----Couple hours later----- We are laughing and enjoying each other's company like I have never done before.. she makes me feel so wanted, desired, and appreciated.. she also somehow takes the stresses of the outside world away. During the whole duration of our meal, we did nothing but casually talk and joke not dealing with any outside stresses. To say that this interaction made me feel better is a complete understatement. She doesn't know how badly I needed this. We can't stop smiling and laughing with each other, even as we walk back to her car. I go to her door and open it for her as I circle around to the passenger seat to sit down. I can hear a beep to my phone, so I pull out to see it's a message from my wife. 'Hey.. I hope you're having fun.. we are a cleaning up storm over here, so just in case you need anything and call, I might not hear my phone.. but have fun.' "Is everything ok?" Delilah asks as I realize my smile faded when I saw I had a message from my wife. But when I look at Delilah, I feel happy. So I don't answer the text back. I just shove my phone into my pocket and look at her. "Everything is perfect here with you." I declare shyly as her smile grows. She drives us over to a small park I have never seen before, just covered and surrounded by trees and bushes that almost camouflage everything around.. I can barely see the corners of the buildings surrounding this place. it's so secretive. "Where are we?" I ask her as she smiles and states with so much enthusiasm. "This is my little secret place.. like no one comes here, and I do all my yoga and exercises here because no one ever comes here." I nod at her curiously, looking over at this new place I have ever seen. "That's cool." I reply as she softly says. "Want to check it out?" I just nod with her as I open the door and get out to join her in this spot. I walk around the car, not seeing her anymore, so I walk through the trees as I feel her hands grip my shirt and pull me through the trees and my lips straight into hers. This feels better than it should, and I know how wrong this is, but it feels so good for me to think it's anything other than right. I push my lips back into hers as I wrap my arms around her body and pull her in. We kiss for a long, sensual moment until I realize what I am doing. I pry my lips from hers and step back. I am shocked with not just my actions, but hers. I step back, and the horror now fills her features. "I'm so sorry.. I.. I'm sorry." She tries to explain, but not much comes out besides an apology. I shake my head as I finally get some air into my lungs. "It's ok.. it was great.. I'm just married." I declare as she nods sadly. "I'll just give you a ride back to the park, and I won't bother you again." I stare over at her now sad features as I state. "That's probably what is best, I guess." She nods with me as we leave this small park and head straight back to the park where we met. I open the car door and look back at her. She still looks incredibly sad and probably mortified as I softly lay my hand on hers. "I swear it's ok.. I'm not mad at you.. and it was great.. it felt great, and you make me happy when I'm around you.. but once again, I'm married." I declare as she nods. I turn back to leave, but I freeze. "Can I see you again?" I ask her, and the sadness turns to shock. "You would want to see me again?" I nod as she smiles at me. "I would love to." I send her a small smile that she easily matches. "I'll talk to you later tonight, but I don't think we should go out.. maybe just talk for a little tonight, and we can talk about tomorrow." I declare as she smiles and extends her hand to shake mine. I shake it before exiting the car and starting my run back to my house and clear my head.
