The night was in, I was tossing and turning in my sleep. Memories of that same person came flashing in my mind. I couldn’t sleep. What was wrong with me? I woke up to get a drink of water from the table. Now was a good time for me to listen to that message on the phone. It could have some sort of clue. I slowly got up to go towards the kitchen. I could hear something howling in the wind.
“is that a wolf? That’s a weird wolf in these parts of the neighborhood. Never mind that I need to listen to that voice message. While slowing down and not trying to make any noise, I saw a pair of red eyes staring at me through the kitchen window. The eyes seemed to go through my soul, it was trying to say something. I reached out with my hand to touch the figure now standing on all fours. What was it? I want to know. Suddenly, my left hand touches the sink faucet, turning on the water. I snap out of my thoughts. Regaining myself and switching off the water, I looked again to see if I was daydreaming about what I had seen. It seemed like I was indeed daydreaming because the creature, or whatever that was, wasn’t there anymore.
“Ahhh! I collapsed with a sharp pain in my head, memories again came rushing into my head.
“What happened?’ said Emily, rushing out of her bedroom.
“I struggle to get up while holding onto the kitchen counter.
“Let me help you up," she insisted. I held my head. It was beating with pain, images of a lab and tables flashing through me. Why did I kept seeing this? All of a sudden, I was held by Emily as she guided me into the bedroom.
“I need to hear the message," I said to her.
“Not now, young lady, you need to have a rest," she said. She lay me in bed while pulling the covers on me. She then rubbed my forehead, the headache I had slowly disappeared with that.
“Thank you," I looked at her and said.
“I am your mother. "You don’t need to thank me," she replies.
She then walks out of the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts again. What I was seeing. I wish I could have seen it more clearly without having to go through the pieces in my head. Nothing had made sense up to now and I couldn’t even listen to that stupid voice message even though I was so close to the phone. Maybe I could try to get some sleep. As I made a turn to the side, turning off the lamp stood near the bedhead.
The morning sun shined in my face. It was morning already. I looked at the clock on the table. It was almost 10:00 am. Last night was still terrible. I kept tossing and turning with a set of headaches.
“Honey, get up, you need to eat something," said Emily with a plate filled with food.
Here she handed me a glass of orange juice. "You need your energy," she said, looking at me.
“Thank you, I reply.
“So today we are going to the park for a bit of fresh air, so get ready," she said while walking out of the room.
“park, I wanted to listen to that voice message. I needed answers for all these things that were happening to me. While getting ready, I headed to the living room. Sitting on the table, I looked over at the other pictures. It seems like I really did love my father a lot, but I can’t remember him not one bit. It is sad. my heart ached for a moment.
“Ava, he really did love you a lot Emily said, looking at me as I watch the pictures hanging from the wall.
“I am just confused," I said.
“What happened to me? I don’t have the slight idea of my memories. Nothing is coming up.
“It will take some time’ she replies.
“It will eventually come back to you, you will get them back. Don’t worry about your pretty little head, my dear she said while patting my head.
“I hope they come back as I kept on thinking. Last night I swear I was daydreaming a creature. It looks so real, with those red eyes piercing into my soul. It wanted to say something like, but I don’t know what it was. Let me just get to the phone today. Today I need to listen to that voice message. I got up and went into the kitchen. As I went through all the messages, there I heard something, it was my voice. The rain was falling like I could hear raindrops. I was in a booth making a call. As I listen carefully,
“Hello! Hello, mom ……. I need hel…. p . please! I couldn’t hear properly.. The rain was falling more loud.
“At……lab… the phone then hung up with a sound.
So I was at a lab. What was I doing in the lab, questions again. At least I know I was at a lab but where and what was I doing at the lab. Was I working there? My head kept on pounding again.
“Ahhhhh! I held onto my head in pain, memories kept flashing in, people with coats I couldn’t see darkness took me over.
I woke up in my bedroom again. I remembered something, the lab name I rushed up, heading to the laptop, typing in its name, Laboratory Corporation of Technology and Genetics. Did I work here? Staring at the laptop screen as I strolled down finding out more about this place.
‘Here take this," said Emily, as she handed me a glass of water and a pill because my head aches.
“Let’s get a bit of fresh air," she held my hand, moving my focus away from the laptop. But I need to know more about this lab. This lab could hold my memories.
