Ava
As I opened my eyes, I could feel a sudden thirst in my throat. Why was i lying in bed? Why was i in a hospital? I could not remember anything. Questions after questions flow in my mind. I saw a woman lying on a chair. She looked like she was there all night. Suddenly, she got up and came rushing to my bedside with tears in her eyes. " Oh, my dear Ava" I missed you so much.
"Ava? I said. Yes, she replied. Now she was getting confused as well. My name is Ava. But how could I not remember that. " Who was I really? I couldn’t take this anymore. I wanted to get up from this bed. I felt helpless, and my hands were attached to wires. I felt pain, my body was aching all over. I wanted to get out of this place. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. With a big outburst, I hopped out of bed.
“Please Ava, please” said the woman. She was screaming for a nurse. In my ears I was confused. People came rushing in.
“No! no! I shouted leave me alone. I was in so much pain, and yet they kept on poking and holding me down to this bed. I was seeing darkness. My vision was getting slowly blurred. The doctor was putting some kind of medication into my line which was attached to my hands. I didn’t have any strength to pull out the wires from my hand.
“Where was I? I was at a table.
“Are you ready for this?” said a man. He wore a white lab coat and had a grin on his face. I couldn’t see his face. It was a blur, yet I could hear his voice as he was slowly coming towards me. I couldn’t move from the table. I tied down my hands and feet.
“What are you doing? I began shouting at this person.
“I am making you amazing” he replied with a smile. I could see his pearly white teeth shining in the light.
“Please leave me alone”. I was screaming at this person, but he was laughing. The room echoed with his laugher. I was now fighting for my dear life. My hands were paining from the rope as it was strap tight.
“Don’t move”. This was just going to take a while. He said.
“No!” I could feel the intense pain rush in my body as he pushed a sharp needle into my body. Tears fill my eyes.
“No! no! Someone help me please.”
“Ava! Ava! Wake up wake up, I heard a voice.
My eyes were slowly opening. It was the woman again. She was crying. Her eyes and face look so puffy and red. Seems like she was crying a lot.
“Water, please," I ask her. She quickly went out of the room. This was my chance to escape from this place. But why was I feeling so thirsty? I needed to have a drink.
I began to pull out the wires from my hands. Blood came spilling out.
“Ouch, I felt terrible. My head was spinning again. I then try to place my feet on the ground. As they touched the ground, I could feel an instance of sharp pain running through my entire body.
“Bam! I collapsed onto the floor. Why aren’t my feet working?
Seems like I was in this hospital for a very long time and I can’t remember anything. The only thing I do know is that a woman keeps calling my Ava. And that seems to be my name. Suddenly, the woman rushed towards me. She grabbed my hand and helped me up.
“What are you trying to do? She said.
“I was just trying to move these things” I replied, pointing to my feet.
“Well you need to be more careful you are here for almost four months. She said.
‘what! I said. As she placed me gently back on the bed.
“Four months” yes, she said. What happened to me? I looked at her, trying to find some kind of answer from her.
“I don’t know Ava”. I really don’t know. She was crying again.
Then I got the courage to ask her a question “Who are you?" How do you know me? I ask.
‘Honey," she said while rubbing my hand. I am her mother. My name is Emily Johnson and your name is Ava Johnson.
“Don’t you remember me? She said.
“no, I replied back.
I was so lost. This woman was my mother and I don’t have any memories of her.
The doctor said you would have memory loss.
“Memory loss” is what happened to me. Questions kept piling up in my head, which led to a headache. She grabbed the water and I drank it again, but I was still feeling thirsty. My thirst wasn’t yet quenched.
“The doctor said you can leave. We just need to wait for some results back. They said something is wrong with your blood.
“My blood” I said.
“Yes” she said," it’s really weird, your blood is black".
“Black” is my blood. How was my blood black? Isn’t the blood supposed to be red? I was full in my thoughts that I didn’t even see the doctor and nurses walk in the room.
“Hello, Miss Johnson, as he looked through his clipboard in his hand. “It seems like your blood we are running through some tests, as your mother would have updated you on. Your blood is black, which is really rare for our case he spoke.
“Rare” my blood, I said.
“Yes,’ said the doctor.
“But why? "I am pretty sure my blood wasn’t supposed to be red, I said to the doctor as he was checking my medication lines.
“I don’t know," he replied. That is why we want to run some more tests on you.
“But for now you can go home with your mother.
“That’s good news I guess”. My mind was still in the thinking stage.
