CHAPTER 6
THALIA
After Sheila and Daisy helped me pick lavender, we returned to my cabin. I wanted to make my perfume, something I used to do frequently in the Golden Heart Pack. I also wanted to create an ointment.
"Thalia, you know how to make perfume too?" Sheila asked while I organized my materials for making ointments and perfumes.
I smiled at Sheila and nodded.
"I'll make perfumes for you and Daisy so you can put them in your rooms to relax and sleep well," I said with a smile as I continued my plan.
A while later, a woman arrived.
"Good morning, everyone," she greeted us with a haughty tone, looking up and down at me. I was relaxing outside my cabin with Sheila and Daisy. We are taking a break, eating some biscuits I made and a warm chocolate drink. One of the nice things about my cabin is that it has seaters outside to relax and a small flower garden in front.
"Who's this new creature in the Blood Rose Pack?" she asked with raised eyebrows, looking at the two sisters.
"She's-" Sheila started to say, but Daisy covered her mouth.
"She's Thalia. She's the new member of the Blood Rose Pack. Thalia, this is Tamarra, she's from the Blackwood Pack," Daisy introduced us to each other.
"I'm pleased to meet you, Tamarra," I greeted Tarra with a smile when Athena suddenly appeared in my mind.
"Hmph, I smell something fishy about this woman. She doesn't seem trustworthy, Thalia. Don't befriend her," Athena said, staring intently at Tamarra.
I extended my hand to Tamarra for a handshake, but she just raised an eyebrow at my gesture.
"Where's your brother, Aldric?" she asked or rather demanded.
"We don't know where he is. All we know is that he's found his mate," Sheila replied chatily.
Tamarra's face suddenly turned fierce upon hearing Sheila's words.
"What? And who is his mate?" Her eyes widened as she asked the sisters. Daisy glanced slightly at me.
"We don't know who Aldric's mate is. All we know is that he's seen her," Daisy replied.
"No! I don't care! Even if Alpha Aldric sees his mate, I'll still be his Luna," Tamarra said angrily. With that, she turned around and walked away.
Something sharp seemed to pierce my heart when she said she'd still be Aldric's Luna.
"I don't like her. I don't like her for Aldric's mate," Sheila said, her face showing disgust towards Tamarra. It's nice to have an ally in the pack.
"Is she Alpha Aldric's girlfriend?" I asked the sisters sadly.
Daisy nodded slightly in response to my question.
"Don't be sad, Thalia. You'll still be my brother's Luna. Daddy won't allow Aldric to have another Luna," Daisy said to reassure me.
I smiled faintly at them and we decided to enter my cabin to continue my work. Although it's disheartening to think that Alpha Aldric has someone else he loves, I won't lose hope. He's our only chance, Athena's and mine, to live a normal life and break the curse. Once the curse is lifted, I'll be proud to show Athena to all the werewolves.
"No matter what, Thalia, don't let Alpha Aldric give in to that woman. We need him to break the curse," Athena said to me.
I just smiled at her in my mind and mixed the oil and lavender flowers.
A while later, a muscular man approached us from the window of the cabin.
"What are you doing here, Daisy, Sheila? And who's your guest?" He asked the sisters with a smile, looking at me and grinning widely.
Sheila opens the door of the cabin and lets Beta Ryker enter. He looked at my work table with an approving expression.
"Good morning, Beta Ryker. What brings you here?" Daisy asked with a smile. He smiled widely at her.
"I'm just patrolling around to ensure the pack's safety. I saw you all here, so I came over. Is she our guest?" Beta Ryker replied, asking Daisy with a question.
"This is Thalia. She's going to be a new member of our pack. We'll introduce her to the whole pack later as a new member of the Blood Rose Pack," Daisy introduced me to Beta Ryker.
Then Daisy turned to me.
"Thalia, this is our Beta, Beta Ryker. He's a loyal friend and advisor to Aldric," Daisy said proudly, introducing Beta Ryker to me. He extended his hand to me.
"I'm pleased to meet you, Thalia." I shook hands with him and smiled slightly.
"You're handsome and muscular, Beta Ryker. And you seem kind too," I said to Beta Ryker with a hint of shyness and jokingly. I felt at ease with him since Athena didn't comment.
His smile widened and pleased with what I said.
"Ryker is indeed kind, Thalia," Sheila chimed in.
Beta Ryker ruffled Sheila's hair. "Of course, I need to protect all pack members. Don't hesitate to approach me, Thalia. Welcome to the Blood Rose Pack. If you need anything, I'm here."
The pack members of the Blood Rose Pack seem kind, except for their Alpha.
"Don't you guys find me disgusting?" I suddenly asked Beta Ryker.
His brow furrowed in response to my question.
"Why would I find you disgusting?" he asked.
"Most people find me disgusting because of my appearance. Some say I'm just a human," I said to him.
He smiled while looking at what I was doing.
"Your face isn't disgusting, Thalia. What's disgusting are people who only look at physical appearance. Though, I didn't sense your wolf. Don't you have one?" he asked curiously.
Athena suddenly chimed in my mind. 'Hey, I'm just hiding. That's why they can't sense me because of the curse on us. Maybe when they see me, they'll be amazed,' Athena said arrogantly.
'Can you just keep quiet for a while?' I said to her. "Hmph," she replied.
'I want to shift during the full moon and see my reflection in the water,' Athena added.
Demanding she-wolf!
I temporarily blocked her because she wouldn't stop interrupting the conversation, even though no one could hear her.
"It's a long story, Beta Ryker," I said briefly to him. He seemed to understand that I didn't want to discuss it further.
"Alright, I'll leave you all for now," Beta Ryker said, bidding us farewell. We waved at him as he left the cabin.
"I'm going home now, Thalia. I still have an assignment to do," Sheila said after glancing at the wall clock.
"Sure, Sheila. I'll give you your perfume tomorrow," I said with a smile.
"We'll leave you too, Thalia. I have something to do," Daisy said, bidding me farewell.
I nodded at the sisters. It's good that they're so kind to me.
As I worked on the perfume, some werewolves passed by my cabin.
"Who's that? She's ugly," one woman said to her companion. They kept talking about me even though they were far from my cabin, and I could hear their whispers.
But I'm used to being called ugly. I continued working and ignored their hurtful comments. There's nothing I can do about my appearance. And it's not my fault they can't sense Athena. If they think I'm just a normal human, that's their problem. What's important to me is that I have a pack that accepts me, like Elder Imre and his two daughters.
I soaked the lavender in oil and decided to take a walk in the forest. Athena and I love the woods, where no one can see us when we shift. I need a new safe place to shift freely.
I started walking through the forest. The scent of fresh air was wonderful.
"This place is beautiful, Athena. The forest is vast, and there's a stream too. I want to explore more of it," I said to Athena.
"I love places like this too, Thalia. Let's shift so we can explore the forest quickly," Athena replied.
I smiled and looked around, closing my eyes to see if there were any other werewolves within a few miles radius. I made sure there were no werewolves around so no one would see us.
"Alright, Athena, let's shift," I agreed.
In an instant, Athena's true form emerged. We ran through the forest, our speed almost as fast as lightning. We reached the edge of the Blood Rose pack's forest, where a sturdy wire fence surrounded the entire territory to ensure no one could enter.
Athena and I hid behind a large tree. Patrols were guarding the area, making it difficult for even rogues to enter. We shifted back into our human forms, and I walked slowly toward a large tree with branches that reached the other side of the fence.
The trees in this forest were incredibly tall, so I wasn't easily noticeable to the patrolling guards. I climbed the tree I chose and walked along the branch that reached the other fence.
I closed my eyes to relax, then suddenly, I heard a scream outside the fence. I could also smell the foul odor of rogues.
"Thalia, someone is asking for help. Let's help them," Athena said to me.
"But we're already inside the Blood Rose Pack. Who knows what will happen to us out here?" I replied to Athena.
"Why are you afraid? We're strong, both of us. Come on, let's help the one asking for help," she encouraged me.
I sighed. I can't say to my wolf. She's right anyway.
From the top of the tree, we jumped over the tall fence. Due to our swift movements, the guards didn't notice us. We ran towards the direction of the voice.
In a dark forest, we saw a woman surrounded by four rogues. They were about to attack her when I shouted.
"Face me instead!"
They immediately turned towards me, grinning as they looked at me.
"Great! We've got lunch, and maybe dinner too," one of them said.
Without hesitation, they charged at me swiftly. But I dodged their attacks quickly. I grabbed one rogue to use as a shield against another attacker, and accidentally, the rogue's companions killed their friend. The three remaining rogues got angry, enraged that one of their own had been killed.
"Run!" I shouted to the woman, but she was too scared to move from her spot.
The three rogues charged at me again. Using my knowledge of self-defense, I fought them off.
I grabbed two of them when they charged at me with punches, and I kicked the other one. The force of my kick sent him flying far away. I then slammed the two into a tree trunk, breaking one of their necks, and he died instantly.
When I turned to the last rogue, I was surprised to see someone had killed him. A man with a sword in hand was the one who did it.
"I'm Gamma Niel, the Gamma of the Blood Rose Pack. What are you doing here? This place is off-limits to anyone," Gamma Niel said authoritatively to me.
I glanced at the woman who was being chased by the rogue; she was being assisted by Gamma Niel's companions.
"Sorry, but I heard her scream and wanted to help, so I came here. I'm from the other side of the fence too. I'm a new member of the Blood Rose Pack. My name is Thalia," I introduced myself to the Gamma.
He frowns. I can't blame him, only the Alpha family and Beta Ryker just knew my existence in the pack.
"Sorry, Thalia, but we need to take you in. If you're a new pack member, we need to verify it. And it's forbidden to come here without Alpha Aldric's permission," he said, signaling his two companions to apprehend me. I didn't resist, knowing they were just doing their job.
"What is this place? Why is it forbidden to come here?" I curiously asked Gamma Niel.
"There are many rogues here. And when you become a member of our pack, you'll learn more about this place," Gamma Niel replied briefly.
I'm looking forward to learning about this place.
They took me to the gate and brought me to the Blood Rose Pack dungeon, throwing me into a clean cell. I lost track of time, unsure how long I'd been imprisoned. Until I heard footsteps approaching my location.
"Alpha Aldric and the former Alpha are arriving!" a pack warrior announced.
