I stood at the cave entrance, hugging myself as I watched the sky, covered by thick clouds. The breeze was cold—not just because of the weather, but also because of the weight of whatever was coming. The surroundings were silent. It seemed as if even the leaves were holding back their rustling.
King Alex and Nasa were behind me. We were all waiting for Kael's return—the raven observer, King Alex's eyes and ears within the Blood Rose Pack. He was our only connection to the world I had left behind. A world that now seemed to be gradually clinging to me, whether I liked it or not.
