Book Two in the Tanner Trilogy brings you to the tourist town of Durango, Colorado, the home of the middle child, Samantha. Though Durango has a police force of 55, I’ve chosen to write the story as if there is a sheriff and fewer officers.
In 1971, Congress passed the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act, “… wild free-roaming horses and burros are living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West; that they contribute to the diversity of life forms within the Nation and enrich the lives of the American people…” Though there are no wild horses in Durango, the closest designated ones are in Spring Creek Basin in the San Juan Resource Area, specifically Disappointment Valley, northwest of Durango.
